Some Details You May Have Missed Quiz

I will not lie; I am a total television junkie. "NCIS" is one of my favourites because the stories are interesting and the characters are positively phenomenal. If you've been enjoying it as obsessively as I have, you'll probably ace this quiz.

Question 1 of 10
1. The team is often much like a very dysfunctional family, with Gibbs and Director Shepard as the parents, DiNozzo, McGee, Ziva/Kate, and Abby as the children, and Ducky as some sort of more distant relative, like a Scottish uncle or grandfather. We all know parents aren't supposed to show favouritism, but it's stated in multiple episodes that this person is Gibbs' favourite. Hint

Question 2 of 10
2. Tony DiNozzo has a lot of nicknames for Tim McGee, the junior agent on the team. McCranky, McDetail, McEgghead, McFlabby, McFlowerPower, McFreaky, McGarnagle, McGecko, McGeek, McGiggles, McGnome, McGoo, McGoogle, and the ever-popular Probie, to name just a few. Which of the following was McGee never called in seasons 1 through 7? Hint

Question 3 of 10
3. Tony comes from a very interesting family. He is an only child, and his parents were wealthy, although he was cut off for unknown reasons. Gregarious and movie-savvy, he has stated that he was given vampire nightmares as a child during a phase his mother went through named after this monarch. Hint

Question 4 of 10
4. Tim McGee sometimes seems out of place in the squad room; he's a computer genius rather than a streetsmart ex-cop, assassin, or Marine and least at ease with playing the gun-toting tough-guy federal agent. He also has an interesting hobby/moonlight career as a novelist. Everybody knows his first novel was called "Deep Six" but what was his second novel entitled? Hint

Question 5 of 10
5. Mossad officer Ziva David joined NCIS as a liaison after she shot her half-brother and rogue Mossad agent Ari Haswari, saving Gibbs' life. Her father is the deputy director of Mossad and Ziva, like Ari, was groomed by him from childhood for a specific purpose. How many languages (not including the language of love) does Ziva speak? Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. There really is no-one like forensic specialist Abby Sciuto; as Tony has said, she's "a paradox wrapped in an oxymoron smothered in contradictions in terms. Sleeps in a coffin. Really, the happiest goth you'll ever meet." Despite her eccentric tendencies, she is all about the science. She graduated from Louisiana State University with a triple major in these three fields. Hint

Question 7 of 10
7. Dr. Donald Mallard is known to nearly everybody as Ducky, for obvious reasons. He attended the University of Edinburgh in his native Scotland before working all over the world for various agencies. In "Bikini Wax" he tells Palmer that he did not always want to be a pathologist; which vocation did he briefly consider taking up? Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. Jimmy Palmer, "the autopsy gremlin" as Tony calls him, has been a comic sideline character since Ducky's first assistant Gerald lost the full use of one of his arms after Ari Haswari shot him. It's implied that the character based on him in McGee's book has necrophilia, but in "real" life, Palmer has this quirk. Hint

Question 9 of 10
9. Now, finally, we can get to everybody's favourite-- Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs. Terse and nearly infallible, he's the end-all, be-all of NCIS agents we've seen. In "Under Covers" Abby wishes him a happy birthday on 10 November, but what is his astrological sign as mentioned in another episode? Hint

Question 10 of 10
10. We also know Gibbs has had a lot of relationships over the years, but the only truly serious one was with his first wife, Shannon. Besides her, he was married and divorced three times and had relationships with Director Shepard, Colonel Mann, Rose, and the mysterious redheaded woman from the first couple of seasons. All of these probably contributed to his grey hairs, which leads people to believe he is older than he really is. Gibbs' real age has never been revealed but we do know what year he left his hometown of Stillwater, Pennsylvania for the Corps; which was it? Hint

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts

Answer: Abby

Even if you haven't seen the episodes in which either Gibbs or Abby state it, you could probably figure it out from the attitude; Gibbs kisses Abs on the cheek, brings her Caf-Pow, and takes her out to dinner every year for her birthday while he head slaps all the others on the team (except Kate, I believe).

Answer: McGamer

DiNozzo does make a lot of references to McGee's online gaming, where his avatar is an Elf Lord, and he catches a lot of flak from all of the team members for it, but he has never been called McGamer and since the number of times DiNozzo calls him by nickname is winding down, I doubt he ever will.
3. Tony comes from a very interesting family. He is an only child, and his parents were wealthy, although he was cut off for unknown reasons. Gregarious and movie-savvy, he has stated that he was given vampire nightmares as a child during a phase his mother went through named after this monarch.

Answer: Louis XV

The decor of his bedroom during the Louis XV phase included a four-poster bed.

His mother also dressed him as a sailor until he was ten. Tony's father was a Civil War re-enactor who made him carry the poop bucket, causing Tony to detest anything associated with the Civil War, revealed in the season three episode "Silver War."

Answer: Rock Hollow

Interestingly enough, the exposed cover of Tim's first published book reveals that "Deep Six: The Continuing Adventures of L.J. Tibbs" is volume five, begging the question, which were the first four volumes?

Answer: Nine

The languages are (fluent) English, Hebrew, Spanish, Turkish, Arabic, and French and (rudimentary) Russian, German, and Italian.

Ziva remembers having fun as a child in the forests of Israel; her father would carry her in blindfolded to find her way out on her own. In spite of this molding, Ziva claims she was not recruited to Mossad but volunteered after serving her required two-year stint in the Israeli army.

Answer: Sociology, criminology, and psychology

She also has two master's degrees from Georgia State in criminology and forensic science and it is implied she also has a PhD in chemistry. If she weren't already accomplished enough, she also is fluent in sign language since both of her parents are deaf, which probably also led to her penchant for very loud music.

She also has a younger brother, but it is never said whether he is also deaf.

Answer: Teaching

He says he eventually decided against teaching at his alum because he couldn't picture himself giving long, rambling lectures... It is ironic that such an observant and intuitive man does not recognize his own verbosity.

Answer: A foot/shoe fetish

In "About Face" Palmer is hypnotised by Abby to help him remember a killer's face but instead he dreamily recalls Abby and Ziva's footwear. He also has claustrophobia ("Good Wives' Club") but although he had a clandestine sexual relationship with NCIS agent Michelle Lee, it is not indicated that Palmer has any preference for Asian women.

Answer: Virgo

Gibbs mentions this in "Blowback" and places his birthday (probably) between 23 August and 22 September, which does not correspond with when Abby says his birthday is. This, however, is explained by the birthday of the Marine Corps, which is 10 November, and correlates both with his extremely personal personal life (his team would most likely not know his real birthday) and with his statements that Marines are for life and others which indicate his very high opinion of the corps.

Gibbs was a Marine Scout Sniper during the First Gulf War and although he is no longer on active duty, he was mentioned in "Ice Queen" (JAG) to be a reservist.

Answer: 1976

In the flashback in "Heartland" we see Gibbs (played by Mark Harmon's son) waiting at the train station in his uniform, where he meets Shannon. He looks very young, about eighteen to twenty, and from this we can estimate he was born circa 1956-1958 which means in season 1 (2002) he would have been 46 or older. Of course this is all academic; I doubt we'll ever know the whole truth about Gibbs but that's part of his and "NCIS"'s charm.
