Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. One of "Star Trek: The Next Generation's" recurring characters appeared on the station at the same time as an old travelling companion. Shortly afterwards the station was threatened by mysterious power drains. Which "DS9" episode was this?

Answer: Q-Less

"Q-Pid" and "True Q" are episodes from "The Next Generation" and "Q2" is from "Voyager".

One of Q's great lines from this episode was when he recreated a boxing match with Commander Sisko. Sisko thumps him to which a shocked Q said "You hit me, Picard never hit me!". "I'm not Picard" was Sisko's response.

This episode marked Q's only appearance in "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine".
2. The head of the Ferengi Alliance came aboard the station and named Quark as his successor before dying suddenly. Which "Deep Space Nine" episode was this?

Answer: The Nagus

Although Zek initially made Quark think that he was being given the position due to his recent business dealings, it actually turned out to be a test for the Nagus's son, Krax.

After Quark was appointed, Krax and Rom tried to kill Quark. However, before they were able to do so, Zek revealed that he was still alive and chastised Krax for the way he tried to seize power.
3. In this "DS9" episode Kai Opaka came aboard the station and request a trip through the wormhole. Commander Sisko agreed, however the runabout crashed on a moon after being attacked by one of its orbital satellites. Sisko, Kira, Bashir and Opaka find themselves in the middle of a war between the Ennis and the Nol-Ennis.

Answer: Battle Lines

The moon used to be a penal colony and Kai Opaka was killed when the runabout crashed on the surface. There is was a biomechanical agent present on the moon that brought her back to life and also meant that the moon's inhabitants could never die. Doctor Bashir discovered, however, the agent could only exist on the moon so neither the Ennis, the Nol-Ennis nor Kai Opaka could ever leave.
4. Three years after the Battle of Wolf 359, in which his wife died, Benjamin Sisko took up a new posting as commander of a former Cardassian space station. What was the name of this two part "DS9" episode.

Answer: Emissary

Commander Sisko was on the verge of resigning from Starfleet when he was assigned to the Deep Space Nine station. An encounter with the spiritual leader of Bajor and an orb experience led to the discovery of the first stable wormhole known to exist. This was also the home of the Prophets, who were worshiped by the Bajoran people.
5. Bajor's fifth moon, Jerrado, was about to become uninhabitable, however one occupant refused to leave. Major Kira was charged with convincing him to go. Meanwhile, Nog and Jake tried to earn some profit.

Answer: Progress

Major Kira had grown up during the Occupation with the Cardassians telling her what to do. She was therefore uncomfortable about trying to forcibly remove Mullibok from his home on Jerrado.

Back on the station, one of Quark's waiters had ordered too much Yamok sauce for the bar. As it was a Cardassian delicacy, there was little demand for it. Quark was happy for Nog and Jake to dispose of it, so they take the opportunity to try and earn some gold-pressed latinum.
6. In this "DS9" first season episode an attempt was made to forcibly remove one of the senior staff from the station. When this failed, an extradition hearing was held as the accused was charged with murder.

Answer: Dax

Jadzia Dax was put on trial for the murder of General Ardelon Tandro by his son, Ilon. The Trill, however, were a joined species and the allegation of murder was directed against Jadzia's previous host, Curzon Dax. The matter was finally settled when Ilon's mother testified.
7. Chief O'Brien and Doctor Bashir visited Bajor. Whilst they were there, O'Brien was declared to be the new Sirah, with responsibility for protecting the village from the Dal'Rok. Which "DS9" episode was this?

Answer: The Storyteller

The Sirah was dying when O'Brien and Bashir arrived. His apprentice had previously been unable to control the Dal'Rok when he had tried and the villagers were not prepared to let him try again. By naming O'Brien as his replacement, the Sirah knew that the villagers would have to trust Hovath to be his successor when O'Brien could not control the Dal'Rok either.
8. Lwaxana Troi paid a visit to the station in "DS9s" first season and takes an interest in Odo. Does this happen in the episode entitled "The Passenger"?

Answer: No

Lwaxana Troi boarded DS9 in "The Forsaken". She first encountered Odo when her brooch was stolen whilst she was in Quark's playing dabo. She was impressed how quickly he was able to solve the crime and return her missing jewellery. Taking every subsequent opportunity to flirt with him.
9. The first visitor from the Gamma Quadrant arrived at the station and identified himself as Tosk. He was being hunted and O'Brien helped him repair his ship and escape. What was the name of the "DS9" episode being described?

Answer: Captive Pursuit

O'Brien doesn't establish whether Tosk was the alien's name or species, however the role was played by Scott MacDonald, who would go on to play a Romulan in "Star Trek: The Next Generation", a human in "Voyager", a Jem'Hadar soldier in a later season of DS9 as well as Commander Dolim, a Xindi-Reptilian in "Enterprise".

The hunter (Gerrit Graham) would also appear in the "Star Trek" universe again as the suicidal Q (Quinn) in "Voyager".
10. Odo was in Quarks and instructed a man called Ibudan to leave the station within 26 hours. That night, Ibudan was murdered in a holosuite and with no other DNA traces present, Odo was the prime suspect for his murder. Which early "DS9" was this?

Answer: A Man Alone

During the Cardassian occupation of Bajor, Ibudan worked on the station dealing in the black market. Odo viewed him as being an unscrupulous profiteer. Whilst no other DNA traces were ever found, Doctor Bashir was able to prove that Odo was not the killer.
