Siddiq grew up in a Muslim household and is able to recite verses from the Qu'ran. His mother was religious and believed that killing walkers would release their souls, so he made it his mission to kill them as often as possible.

Siddiq is looking for food near a gas station when he comes across Carl. Carl points a gun at him. Siddiq tries to calm him down, but Rick shows up and fires a couple of warning shots, so Siddiq runs away. Later, Carl ends up dying because he is bitten when he joins Siddiq in killing walkers.

When Carl encounters Siddiq again, he throws him a bag of food and begins to ask him the three questions that Rick's group used to use when deciding whether to welcome new members into their camp - How many walkers have you killed? How many people have you killed? Why? Siddiq is able to, amazingly, remember the precise number of walkers he's killed and says he killed only one person "out of mercy."

In season 9, epsidoe 1, "A New Beginning," Siddiq mentions that he's afraid of spiders. The actor who plays Siddiq, Avi Nash, noted on "The Talking Dead" that he, too, is afraid of spiders. Carol suffers from claustrophobia - a fear of tight places - as we learn in "Squeeze." Siddiq would have a hard time, as a doctor, if he suffered from hemophobia - a fear of blood.

Siddiq was a second-year emergency resident doctor prior to the apocalypse. He serves as a medic for Alexandria's militia and for the coalition's soldiers when they band together to fight common enemies. He becomes Alexandria's primary doctor and is assisted by Dante. He also eventually serves on the Alexandria Safe-Zone council, but he never leads the Hilltop.

After Rick slits Negan's throat, he orders Siddiq to save him, which Siddiq somehow manages to do. Rick does this to honor his dead son Carl, who wanted him to seek peace. This scene occurs in season 8, episode 16, "Wrath."

Siddiq is the father of Rosita's child. He helps to raise the child, along with Father Gabriel and Eugene, until he meets his unfortunate end. It seems he and Rosita had a casual sexual relationship offscreen during the time jump, though she ends up settling on Father Gabriel.

Siddiq was made to witness the decapitations because Alpha wanted someone to report back. He suffered PTSD from the event, and blocked it out, but gradually bits and pieces of that night return to him. As they do, he realizes that his assistant, who was given refuge in Alexandria, is in fact a Whisperer spy.

After Dante strangles Siddiq to death for recognizing him, Rosita encounters a reanimated Siddiq. She has to put her baby in the tub to protect it. Siddiq, as a walker, tries to eat his own baby. Rosita stabs him in the head.
