Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What number is given to the studio at CBS Television City where 'The Price Is Right' is taped?

Answer: Studio 33

Renamed in honor of host Bob Barker, Studio 33 was also used to tape 'The Carol Burnett Show'.
2. Which of these 'Price Is Right' announcers was also the announcer for 'The Arsenio Hall Show'?

Answer: Burton Richardson

Regularly filling in for the popular Rod Roddy, who battled breast and colon cancer during the last years of his life, Burton Richardson provided a more mellow counterpoint to Roddy's more outgoing style. Richardson has also done work on other game shows, including 'Family Feud' and 'To Tell The Truth'.
3. In which on-stage car game would a person give true or false answers on item prices?

Answer: Five Price Tags

In 'Five Price Tags', a contestant has to choose the correct price of a new car from one of five different prices. The contestant can win up to four chances to pick the right price from among the five price tags.
4. In the popular 'Cliff Hanger' game, how many steps can the mountain climber take before he falls off the edge of the cliff?

Answer: 25

The mountain climber takes one step for each dollar the contestant misses the price of an item (eg, if the contestant prices a blender at $25 and the item is $30, the mountain climber takes five steps).
5. How much time does a contestant get in the 'Clock Game'?

Answer: 30 seconds

Another oldie-goldie pricing game, 'Clock Game' contestants have 30 seconds to guess the prices of two prizes. A cash bonus is awarded along with the prizes if a contestant guesses both prices correctly before time runs out.
6. In 'Dice Game', what is the highest single digit in the price of any car?

Answer: 6

In 'Dice Game', there are no numbers higher than 6, and there are no zeros. A contestant has to roll a die in order to come up with the number, then guess higher or lower if they didn't roll the number exactly.
7. In a bonus spin on the 'Big Wheel', how much are the two green sections worth?

Answer: $10,000

The two green sections bracket the $1.00 space on the wheel. Hitting either one of those on a bonus spin is worth $10,000. Hitting the $1.00 space on a bonus spin is worth $25,000.
8. During a regular spin of the wheel, what values are assigned to the two green sections, in cents?

Answer: 5 and 15

Those green squares aren't quite worth as much during a regular spin, unless of course they help a contestant get $1.00.
9. In which of the following onstage game do contestants avoid picking an item listed for a specific price?

Answer: Danger Price

Four prizes are involved in 'Danger Price', one of which is worth the target dollar amount. The contestant wins all four prizes if he or she can manage to avoid that prize.
10. From 1998 to 2008, what did 'Price' producers do to make the car game '3 Strikes' easier to play?

Answer: Removed 2 strikes from the game.

Originally, the four (later five) numbers comprising the price of the car were put into a bag along with three strikes. Producers later removed two of the strikes, but the object of the game was still the same--get the price of the car correct before hitting the strike three times. All three strikes were added back to the bag after 2008.
11. Which of the following men did NOT host a syndicated version of 'The Price Is Right'?

Answer: Peter Tomarken

Peter Tomarken is best known as the host of the first incarnation of 'Press Your Luck', which ran on CBS in the mid-1980's. He also hosted 'Hit Man' on NBC and 'Wipeout' in syndication, but he never hosted 'Price'. Tomarken and his second wife, Kathleen, were killed in a small-plane crash near Santa Monica, California, in March, 2006.
12. What game show mastermind created 'The Price Is Right'?

Answer: Mark Goodson

Bob Stewart created the original version of "The Price Is Right" which ran from 1956 until 1965. But by the time the current version of "Price" premiered in 1972, Stewart had left Goodson-Todman Productions and struck out on his own. Bill Carruthers produced the popular "Press Your Luck", and Merrill Heater teamed with Bob Quigley to produce the original "Hollywood Squares".
13. Which of the following games does NOT typically involve winning a car?

Answer: Bullseye

Typically, 'Bullseye' winners go home with home furnishings or a trip. The other three games have a car as the prize.
14. Which international media conglomerate owns 'The Price Is Right'?

Answer: FremantleMedia

FremantleMedia acquired 'The Price Is Right' as part of its acquisition of Pearson Television in 2000. The company has media holdings in North America, Europe and Australia.
15. In the 'Showcase', how close must a contestant be, without going over, in order to win both showcases?

Answer: $250

For many years, contestants had to be within $100 of the price of their showcase to win both showcases. Within the last few years, that has increased to $250.
