Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. On one of the episodes of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show", what did her boss tell her that she had?

Answer: Spunk

Ed Asner that plays Mary's boss, Lou Grant, told her that she had spunk. He then said, "I hate spunk". I believe this was during the pilot episode.
2. In the opening credits of "The Dick Van Dyke Show", what did Dick trip over?

Answer: Ottoman

When the theme song started playing, Dick would come in and see his friends and family, and has he was rushing over to greet them, he would trip over the ottoman. Sometimes though, he wouldn't trip over the ottoman. Did you ever notice that in the opening credits whether or not he tripped over the ottoman, that he would shake Morey Amsterdam's hand twice?
3. On "I Love Lucy", did Lucy ever try to get into Ricky's shows down at the club?

Answer: Yes

Lucy was always trying to get into Ricky's shows. He sometimes pretended he didn't know when one of the shows were going to happen, because he knew that Lucy would want to be in it. Even though he always said no to her, she always ended up sneaking into them anyway.
4. On "Sanford and Son", what did Fred always say when something he didn't like was going to happen?

Answer: "I'm coming to join you Elizabeth"

He always said,"I'm coming to join you Elizabeth". He always pretended he was having a heart attack, but never did. He probably would have liked to kill Esther, because he hated her. He always said that she was ugly. Esther always carried her Bible with her. She was always quoting from the Bible.
5. Which of these shows had John Travolta in it?

Answer: "Welcome Back Kotter"

John Travolta played a Sweathog in "Welcome Back Kotter". He, and all of his other Sweathog buddies all went to class, but never did any work. They always just sat around and talked about everything and anything.
6. On "Gilligan's Island", what was the name of the boat the castaways traveled on?

Answer: S.S. Minnow

The name of the boat was the S.S.Minnow. You could see the name of the ship during the opening credits of the show.
7. What kind of music was heard on "The Beverly Hillbillies"?

Answer: Bluegrass

The theme song "The Ballad of Jed Clampett" was an actual bluegrass song. It was sung by Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs. You actually saw their appearance on the show quite a bit. If Granny was feeling down about something, and they happen to show up, she got happy again real quick. I didn't care for the show at all. I thought all the characters were pretty strange acting.

However, my dad loved the show.
8. What show would you hear this opening line - 'Boy the way Glenn Miller played'?

Answer: "All in the Family"

This was the opening line to "All in the Family". This song was sung by Archie and Edith Bunker. Edith was playing the piano, and they were both singing. They might not have made the top 40, but their song sure was a big hit to millions and millions of viewers.
9. What two shows did Ron Howard star in?

Answer: "The Andy Griffith Show" and "Happy Days"

On "The Andy Griffith Show", he played Andy's son, Opie. This show was on during his younger years in life. However, "Happy Days" was after he was an adult. The show was done in the 1970's, but it had a 1950's theme to it. To me, those were the days of being able to cruise safely with your friends on Friday and Saturday nights and not get in trouble.
10. Talking about Ron Howard, who did his actual brother, Clint, play in "The Andy Griffith Show"?

Answer: Leon

He was in only one or two episodes, but Ron Howard's brother, Clint, played Leon in "The Andy Griffith Show". To help ring a bell, he was the one that was always turned down offers for a bite of his peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
