Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Chronologically, K3 is which of the following stages of the game?

Answer: Fifth

K3 comes fifth in chronological order as it follows Lake Orangutanga and Kremwood Forest in the southeast, then Cotton-Top Cove and Mekanos in the central area of the map. K3, found along the northern mountain range on the world map, is a snowy region containing a variety of mountainous cliffs, glacial streams, and icy pathways. Of course, Kremlings are everywhere, and the Kongs will have to fight their way through, as usual.
2. Which of these is needed to reach K3?

Answer: Turbo Skis

After completing the third and fourth stages of the game (Cotton-Top Cove and Mekanos), Dixie and Kiddy will have received two separate skis which, when brought to Funky's Rentals down south, will result in a brand new vehicle designed to make their way up waterfalls.

This is the only way to get up to K3 and the later stages of the game. In fact, as soon as the Kongs head up the waterfall, K3 is the only possible stage to visit.
3. In Krevice Kreepers, the only enemies faced by the Kongs are Klasps, Kremlings hiding in TNT barrels.

Answer: False

While Klasps are certainly the main 'Kreepers' of the stage by a longshot, there are also Sneeks (rats) and Buzzes (bees) found throughout the level, wreaking havoc just when the Kongs don't need them. This rocky, cliff-based level is wrought with ropes, and with so many Klasps hovering around certain overhangs, the Kongs need to move, jump, and drop quickly to avoid any interaction or else *BOOM*.

Their TNT Barrels will mean a quick end.
4. In Tearaway Toboggan, there is no midway save barrel.

Answer: False

All main platforming levels of the game feature a midpoint (ie. the star barrel) designed to allow players a checkpoint. In this level, the second toboggan level of the game (after Demolition Drain-Pipe in Mekanos), the Kongs head to a snowy town to, essentially, mine cart their way to the end of the level.

The level, like the previous toboggan ride, features a wide array of enemies, all of which can be jumped on to safety, but all of which shouldn't be run into. The real concern here will likely be the narrow pits which spell instant death if dropped into.
5. In Barrel Drop Bounce, what are the barrels dropped down exactly?

Answer: A waterfall

Barrel Drop Bounce brings the Kongs back toward the cliff environment first seen in Cotton-Top Cove. In this one, Dixie and Diddy have to make their way up several waterfall-covered cliffs, mainly by jumping atop wooden barrels careening over the edge and breaking on the rock platforms below.

The real rush here is making it up the barrels before they're too low to make it to the destination. The level is also home to Parry the Parallel Bird, at least in the latter half, if you're looking for bonus items.
6. In Krack-Shot Kroc, you only have the option to play as which animal companion?

Answer: Squitter

In this level, you start off as Squitter early on, and make your way through a factory location dodging a crosshair hovering directly around the character. Controlled by an off-screen foe, the crosshair lobs fireballs when it locks onto its intended target, giving a slight opening for Squitter to get out of the way.

Unfortunately, much of the level requires a bit of web-play to navigate over large vats of dangerous liquids, so being quick is necessary.
7. In Lemguin Lunge, from where do the penguin enemies emerge?

Answer: Holes in the ground

The penguins, known as Lemguins, emerge from small holes in the ground and use their slippery underbellies to slide along the smooth surfaces of the snowy level. While they really only provide a threat if you're too slow, they also allow for the Kongs to jump across them since they aren't spiky.

As such, this can be one of the quickest levels of the game if you move swiftly. Lemguins do not appear in any other location in the game.
8. In Bleak's House, with what do you fight the stage's final boss?

Answer: Snowballs

Bleak's House, the boss battle in the northeast corner of the stage map, brings Diddy and Dixie to the doorstep of an evil snowman who hides behind two snow barriers. The trick behind this battle is very similar to the Swanky's Sideshow matches you can participate in against Cranky Kong. You need to aim snowballs at the Snowman's chest (specifically a blinking light) and hit him six times in total. You can alternate shots between the back barricade and the front quite easily, though later rounds will often take place close-up with the Kongs dodging huge hits.

After the battle, the Kongs win a Bonus Coin.
9. Which of these Bear Brothers appears in a basecamp in K3?

Answer: Blizzard

If you head northwest down an unmarked path from Lemguin Lounge, the area's fifth level, you'll take a route to Blizzard's Basecamp and find a Brother Bear making his way to the top of K3. Here, Blizzard will hand over a gift for his depressed brother in Cotton-Top Cove, Blue. When this is delivered, Blue will regift the item, a Bowling Ball, and the Kongs can take it to Mekanos to access the Sky-High Secret crystal cave (for a Banana Bird).
Completion of K3 also gives the Kongs access to Barter's Swap Shop just outside the area, southwest of the entrance to K3.
10. Does K3 contain a hidden Banana Bird cavern?

Answer: Yes

Although it seems like K3 doesn't, it's actually found near the very end of exploration in the stage. To get to the Glacial Grotto, you need to find the hidden path to Blizzard's Basecamp, then you have to keep going northwest to blow up the cave entrance.

At this point in the game, the cave will require that you match seven crystals to free the Banana Bird inside. It doesn't get easier from here.
