He/she mistakes what Granny says about trying a pickle for thinking it means to eat a sample. She then says she would be out of business if she gave them away. Zidane pays 100 gil to take Quina along with him.

Quan is little help, saying that the entrance might be in "the brush" of the marsh. When Zidane picks up Quina from the frog area, he/she will chase a frog to the entrance, unfortunately never catching it. He/she and Quan are related to Vivi's grandfather, who lived nearby Treno. Vivi can look for his grandfather who Quan hates after leaving Treno and seeing the clock stopped.

As if Alleyway Jack weren't have a bad enough night with his Stellazio scam failing, he bumps into the intimidating Amarant, who talks down to him. He tries to get back at him through kidnapping Eiko, who he realizes is traveling with him. When he sees her in the second floor of the mansion, he looks for a way to get back at him by telling Eiko he has food to lure her away. Quina, also on the lookout for good eats, overhears this and chases him, which scares Alleyway Jack away so much that he runs away dropping a Chimera Armlet.

Zidane says he looks forward to a card with the "sailor chick" he hears about. Erin also travels with Regend Cid transformed and two observers shoo it away. She tells them that Cid is her pet, which Cid takes offense to. He says that nobody realizes it is he who is the champion.

When Captain Adelbert Steiner is looking to round up all his knights in the beginning of the game, he finds Weimar near a side exit unsurprisingly asking a female knight if she want to go on vacation to Treno with him. When Steiner gets an Elixir for finding all his soldiers, he hears about Weimar's being famous for flirting all the time.

Laudo can be found in the library in the beginning of the game saying he wants to take leave. If Steiner refuses, he will run off angrily. He comes back later awaiting Steiner's command when Alexandria is attacked. His best capability then is notifying Lindblum about the attack.

Black Waltz No. 1 casts the spell that puts Vivi, Steiner, Garnet, and Zidane to sleep in that order. When he sees that Zidane has awoken and not frozen to death, he summons Sealion and fights alongside the Tsunami-casting beast. In this fight, Zidane has the opportunity to steal an Icebrand relatively early in the game.
