Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How much experience would you get for defeating a Grand Dragon (without Level Up equipped)?

Answer: 35, 208

The mighty Grand Dragon is one of the harder enemies in the game. You can find them on Popos heights, near Burmecia. They have the ability to kill the entire party in one hit, unless they have at least 2,000 HP, or are wearing armour that defends against lightning attacks (like the Coral Ring).
2. What phantom monster says 'have you met the others'?

Answer: Yan

The Yan has to be the last of the Phantom monsters you befriend. If you see him before, he'll just run away, hence the saying 'Have you met the others?'. You can find the Phantom Yan in the forest on Vile Island, which is normally a problem, because the ordinary Yans are there too, and they're even worse than the Grand Dragon to defeat. If you befriend the Phantom Yan, he will make it a lot easier in your battle against Ozma (should you decide to face it...).
3. What is the Needle Fork's hidden status?

Answer: Petrify

The Needle Fork is very useful for ending battles quickly (providing they're not resistant to petrification). You can get it early in the game by stealing it from the Zaghnol at the Festival of the Hunt.
4. How many people can use a Robe of Lords?

Answer: Four

The four people are the magic wielders: Vivi, Quina, Eiko, and Garnet/Dagger. The Robe of Lords is the best robe you can possibly have. Not only does it teach several rare and valuable abilities, it also provides great defenses and nullifies wind damage.
5. What are the maximum parameters possible on an 'Ultima Weapon' card (including attack type)?

Answer: FA16

The Ultima Weapon Card is one of the most powerful cards in the game. There aren't many that can reach the F parameter in Attack. It isn't too good with defense, but its reasonable magical defense makes up for it.
6. What is the name of the snake like god that the Burmecians worship?

Answer: Gizarmaluke

Master Gizamaluke can be a formidable opponent if you're not prepared. One sneaky tactic is to use a tent on him at the start of the battle. It's very likely to blind and/or poison him. Make sure you use it at the START of the battle, otherwise it could heal him fully and not even give him a status!

Gizamaluke might drop a Mythril Sword Card when you beat him.
7. Attacking someone in the trouble status with a healing weapon (or with the healer ability junctioned) will heal everyone.

Answer: False

Of course it won't! It will heal the person you attack, but everyone else will feel half the pain, as if it was a normal attack! Trouble can be quite a problem, sometimes. Fortunately, only a few monsters have the ability to put you in Trouble.
8. You see Cloud's sword from "Final Fantasy VII" in the weapon shop in Lindblum.

Answer: False

You don't see the actual sword, it's just a replica of the real thing, because Cloud still has his sword! you also hear an excerpt of music from "Final Fantasy VII" while you are in Evil Forest. An ATE comes up, showing the band in the Prima Vista playing Rufus' presidential theme from "Final Fantasy VII"!
9. What is the only item that allows the holder to learn 'Long Reach'?

Answer: Protect Ring

The Protect Ring is arguably the best add-on in the game. Not only does it reduce all elemental damage by 50%, it provides excellent defenses. Unfortunately, they're quite hard to come by...
10. What is the name of the blue moogle who was supposed to deliver all the Mognet letters?

Answer: Artemicion

Artemicion couldn't deliver the Mognet letters, because the machine in Mognet Central that sorted all of them started grinding and malfunctioned. It turns out that Artemicion was part of the reason why the machine started grinding in the first place.
11. What items would I need to synthesize a Pearl Rouge?

Answer: Moonstone, Elixir

A Pearl Rouge is a very useful piece of equipment. Unfortunately, only the girls can equip it. The earliest stage that you can synthesize one is at the start of Disc 3 in Alexandria.
12. What item will a Gimme Cat want from you?

Answer: Diamond

There's not much point in giving it the Diamond, because it will just attack you with Meteor if you do. It's barely even worth killing, because you only get 4 EXP from it, anyway. Gimme Cats only seem to exist to annoy people.
13. The Ultima Weapon is Zidane's most powerful Dagger.

Answer: False

The Ultima Weapon is Zidane's most powerful weapon, but it isn't a Dagger. The most powerful Dagger is the Orihalcon, which can be stolen from Taharka in Ipsen's Castle. The Orihalcon is Zidane's third most powerful weapon, after the 'Ultima Weapon' and 'The Tower'. You can also buy the Orihalcon in Bran Bal on Disc 3.
14. If Vivi uses Firaga followed by Doomsday while in trance, how much MP will it use up (without Half MP equipped)

Answer: 96

Firaga costs 24 MP, and Doomsday costs 72.

24 + 72 = 96 MP. The being in Trance was a Red Herring. If Vivi's in Trance, he can use two black magic spells in a row, but all magic still costs the same amount of MP, Trance or no Trance!
15. Which of these isn't a Sword Magic ability?

Answer: Holy Sword

Steiner can't use Holy Sword, because Vivi can't cast Holy! Only Eiko can do that. Besides, Steiner has weapons with the Holy Element, anyway (namely, the Excalibur, Excalibur II and the Ultima Sword).
16. You're in a battle, and Eiko's the only one left standing. What is the best course of action (assuming that Eiko isn't in Trance)?

Answer: Summon Phoenix

If you Summon Phoenix, it will revive all of your fainted characters and damage the enemy (as long as that enemy doesn't absorb/nullify fire). Phoenix can only be learned by Eiko, when she has equipped a Phoenix Pinion.
17. How much AP does it take for Amarant to learn counter?

Answer: 240

Amarant takes forever to learn counter, but most of his weapons enable him to learn it. Surprisingly, Amarant can also learn Return Magic, an ability that you'd think would be exclusive to Vivi.
18. What color is the Angel Bless (mostly)?

Answer: Green

The Angel Bless is one of Zidane's weapons, and the only only one that lets him learn Thievery. You can first Synthesize it in Alexandria at the start if Disc 3.
19. Dagger's real name is Garnet.

Answer: False

Her real name is Sarah, and this can be found out in an optional detour to the Eidolon Wall on Disc 4. You also find out the true identity of her birth mother...
20. What magic does the Eidolon Atomos represent?

Answer: Demi

Atomos swallows the opponents up, and then they get compressed and regurgitated again. It has a very similar effect to Demi, and can easily inflict 9,999 HP damage on some of the more powerful enemies.
21. You can kill a Yan in one hit. (Note: A Yan has over 20,000 HP.)

Answer: True

A Yan can easily be killed just by having Vivi cast Death or Garnet/Dagger summoning Odin. Death is more likely to work, but it only affects one at a time, while Odin attacks all and is less accurate. You can also have Steiner use Iai Strike, but the unreliability of this move suggests that you shouldn't.
22. What is Freya's most powerful weapon?

Answer: Dragon's Hair

The Dragon's Hair is Freya's most powerful weapon, and it can only be found by a chocobo (red or better).
You need to look really hard to find the Dragon's Hair. Oh, and take some Dead Pepper with you. You're going to need it!
23. What color is a flying chocobo?

Answer: Gold

The five stages of chocobo evolution are:
1. Land Chocobo- Yellow
2. River Chocobo-Light Blue
3. Mountain (and River) Chocobo- Red
4. Ocean Chocobo- Purple
5. Flying Chocobo- Gold

A Flying Chocobo can only take off and land in forests and the Chocobo's Sky Garden.
24. Where can you find the Gulug Stone?

Answer: Oeilvert

Kuja blackmails Zidane and three friends into getting the Gulug Stone for him. He won't go there himself, because there is an anti-magic field around the place.

Once you get it, you'll have to battle a boss called Ark (yes, like the Eidolon). Make sure you equip Clear Headed and steal the Holy Lance from it!
25. There are no actual humans in the whole of "Final Fantasy IX".

Answer: False

There aren't many humans in "Final Fantasy IX", but there are a few. Steiner and Amarant are arguably human, while there are several peasants and villagers that are definitely human. Garnet/Dagger, however, is NOT human. She is a Summoner born in Madain Sari.

Her and her birth mother escaped from Madain Sari in a boat, because the airship, The Invincible, was creating a hurricane over the entire village. Her mother died on the boat near Alexandria, and Queen Brahne, realizing the potential power that Garnet could have, adopted her so she could steal this power from her when she turned sixteen.
