At first, I found the lack of control over heroes to be quite hampering, but it is an interesting feature which introduces new strategies. For example, I at first started to recruit mainly rogues and rangers, which I found I could control more easily by placing reward flags, but I soon found that recruiting rogues is not always a good idea; rogues have the lowest willpower of any hero class, so they will often respond to enemy reward flags, even if they're on your buildings or heroes! Rangers, fortunately, are more reasonable; they have a higher willpower, and do not experience this problem.

Priestesses are very formidable warriors, particularly because they can resurrect dead enemies as skeletons. If the player recruits several priestesses and help them survive to high levels, he will be rewarded with a vast army of skeletons. The main drawback to priestesses is that they have very few hit points, and so they die relatively quickly, especially at lower levels.

Actually, in order to recruit Warriors of Discord, a Temple to Fervus is required. This is because the creation of Warriors of Discord involves chaotic Cultist rituals.

A temple to Dauros, on the other hand, will allow the creation Paladins, which are not as strong as Warriors of Discord, but a lot smarter.

Answer: Worship to Krypta

A strict system of temples is established, so that at most three temples can be built.
A temple to Krolm is incompatible with any other temple, and a temple to Helia is incompatible with a temple to Lunord, and vice versa. Temples to Dauros and Agrela are compatible with each other, but not with temples to Krypta or Fervus, and vice versa. Note that temples to Fervus/Krypta or Agrela/Dauros can be combined with a temple to Helia or Lunord, but no temples can be combined with a temple to Krolm.

One interesting feature of the game is that the player can customize the landscape of freestyle games according to that of a specified location on the map. This doesn't really do anything, but it looks better if creatures such as ice dragons and yeti are somewhere to the north, such as Krolm's Anvil, than somewhere warm, such as Valmorgen.

Rangers are strong archers and some of the most reliable heroes available. They're also cheap, they complement Barbarians very nicely, explore the map early and efficiently and they won't betray you like rogues or go berserk like Warriors of Discord.
All in all, Rangers don't pack as powerful a punch as some hero classes, but along with dwarves, they're a class that always seems to do what the player wants and, generally, help out.

Loyalty is very important in multiplayer games, where your heroes (particularly rogues) might respond to enemy reward flags on your buildings or heroes. This also applies in some scenarios with multiple monarchs.

An extra difficulty level, Master, was added to two campaigns in the expansion set to give an extra challenge to advanced players. Unfortunately, I'm still stuck on two of the expansion scenarios, so I can't play the Master difficulty level (except in freestyle), nor do I know what the levels are.
The other three difficulty levels are Beginner, Advanced, and Expert.

The Sorcerer's Abode is an interesting beast because there is a significant cool down time between spells, the length of which depends on exactly which spell was cast. For this reason I think that the Sorcerer's Abode is best for emergencies, which makes it sort of useless given the types of spells it contains.

The one possible exception is the spell Change of Heart, which can be incredibly useful if you've got the money to use it on a couple heroes/monsters at a time.

Some dwellings, like the Broken Sewer Main, are naturally produced by the expansion of the city. While the Broken Sewer Main can be destroyed, other dwellings, such as sewers or graveyards (which are instead created by the death of a specific number of heroes), are indestructible. They simply continue to produce rats or skeletons throughout the course of the game.
