Answer: Halo

The original "Halo" was perhaps the crown jewel of the original Xbox, releasing in 2001 as "Halo: Combat Evolved" and becoming a staple FPS series for decades to follow. As the franchise expanded, so too did its game types and stories with "ODST" and "Reach" following the original trilogy and landing on consoles (specifically the Xbox 360) at some point at the end of the 2000s.

In addition to the general campaigns, "Halo" games are known for robust multiplayer competitive modes. The series also resulted in a TV adaptation debuting on Paramount+ in 2022.

Answer: HeartGold

While the original "Pokemon Gold" (and "Silver") hit Game Boy Color handhelds in 1999, Nintendo made a point of revisiting older series games and upscaling them for later handhelds as time went on, so after "FireRed" and "LeafGreen" saw their release, "Gold" and "Silver" got their revisions as "HeartGold" and "SoulSilver" for the Nintendo DS, hitting stores in 2009 (in Japan).

The games bring players back to the land of Johto to catch 'em all and, eventually, head into Kanto to revisit that region as well. Because of their playability on the later handheld, players could also bring Pokemon from other DS games into these ones, at long last. On the remake track, they were followed by "Omega Ruby" and "Alpha Sapphire" for the 3DS.

Answer: Hedgehog

Sonic would eventually become the mascot for Sega as his game series proved to be one of the more popular offerings that their home consoles would provide, so much so that "Sonic" would appear in games well after the company got out of the console market and shifted solely to game development. "Sonic & Knuckles" would first appear together in 1994.

The "Sonic" series has since grown exponentially with the hedgehog protagonist even starring in his own well-received major motion pictures.

Answer: Half-Life

Originally released on PC in 1998, the "Half-Life" series from Valve has evolved to become something much bigger than a sci-fi FPS from their early catalogue, especially with the series growing to include a well-regarded sequel, the side-stories of "Portal", the popular multiplayer game of "Team Fortress 2", and the highly-regarded early VR game "Half-Life: Alyx".

Headcrabs are one of the unique foes found in the series as these small creatures leap through the air, aiming to attach to a human host and zombify it.

Answer: Handsome

Releasing in 2012, "Borderlands 2" brought players back into the hyper-violent world created by Gearbox Software and made it a bigger, broader, and more insane experience by creating a more open world and following a compelling story in which the four main characters must face off against the charismatic, but cruel Handsome Jack before he can open a new Vault.

In the end of the game, Jack will undoubtedly be defeated, but he'll manage to open the Vault and spark the arrival of a bigger foe.

Answer: Hyrule

First appearing in the original "Legend of Zelda" for the NES way back in 1986, Hyrule has grown to be one of the most recognizable video game destinations of all-time, having reappeared in different forms across decades of the series including in "Ocarina of Time", "Twilight Princess", and "Breath of the Wild". Often, adventures will find Link navigating through temples, dungeons, and all manner of hidden nooks to collect weapons and magical items that will help him on his quest to save the land from whatever evil's cropped up.

Answer: Heartless

The chief generic foe found in the original "Kingdom Hearts", the Heartless would be accompanied by other creatures, like Nobodies, in subsequent games. This said, these evergreen enemies would be exceedingly common in the hack-and-slash adventure through Disney's most famous settings, often standing in the way of Sora and company as they attempted to save King Mickey and prevent Disney's villains (and worse) from wreaking havoc.

Answer: Harmonix

Formed in the 1990s, Harmonix made it big with rhythm and music games in the 2000s, helping Activision launch "Guitar Hero" before splitting off to elaborate on the formula with "Rock Band", a game with on-and-off popularity into the 2020s. Based in Massachusetts, the developers there have been involved in a number of the most innovative music-based games in the industry including the physical card/app game "DropMix", the music mixing game "Fuser", and the Kinect motion game "Fantasia: Music Evolved".

Answer: Harvest Moon

A farming simulation series, "Harvest Moon" is comparatively lo-fi when held up against the more adventurous Nintendo franchises out there. Most of the games in the set involve starting a farm in a pastoral location and continuing to tend to it through the seasons while living a life in the community. Successive entries in the series increased the amount of things to do, allowing you to tend to animals, date and marry locals, renovate your house, and engage with side-hobbies and professions.

Answer: Heather

Heather Mason, the daughter of "Silent Hill 1's" Harry Mason, is led to investigate the odd and dangerous realm of Silent Hill to discover that its past is intrinsically linked to hers. It's revealed that she's actually a reincarnated figure from the town, brought forth as part of Silent Hill's cult activities.

Heather has since become one of the series' key characters, reappearing in the film adaptations of the game as well as in "Dead by Daylight" as a playable Survivor (matched up with The Executioner/Pyramid Head as a Killer).
