Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. One of the most loved characters was a strong-willed young man belonging to a military academy where he was known as a SEED. Once being a loner, love and friendship beings out the caring man inside that leaves his heart open for one special girl. Who is this character?

Answer: Squall

Squall joins the military group Garder when he is seventeen and is a SEED along with Quistis, Zell, Selphie, and Irvine, whom he soon befriends. He is, at first, known as the 'lone wolf' whom always keeps his feelings to himself and never lets anyone else into his heart. Once becoming partnered up with a young woman known as Rinoa, he begins to feel romantically towards her, and as he is pulled unwillingly into the hero spotlight, she gives him all of the help she can muster.
2. In the 'Final Fantasy' world there are many animals that take up the character positions, some of them wacky and some of them relatively normal. One of these characters starred in a number of the games in the 'Final Fantasy' universe. It was known as a 'leonine', was 48 years old, and was nicknamed by the feared and loathed Hojo. What is this strange creature?

Answer: Red XIII

Red XIII, or Nanaki, is a leonine with a flaming tail and bright red fur. He has an extremely long life and when he is found by Cloud and friends he is only an adolescent in his species at the age of 48. He was a test subject in Hojo's experiments when he was found and rescued by the group, being forced to breed with Aerith to save the two species. he becomes a loyal friend and asset to the group and gains courage as he travels with them.
3. Trommel is one of those background characters, and his presence tends to fade out more than many others. Being a quiet and sorrowful character two years after the death of his leader, he hates himself and wishes to simply disappear from the world to be free of the hatred that is now directed at him and his people. Which game does this Trommel belong to?

Answer: 'Final Fantasy X-2'

'Final Fantasy X' was full of 'interesting' characters, and one of these was Seymour, the psychopathic summoner whom tried to marry dear Yuna. He was a liar from the beginning, and after taking his life from his betrayal, Tidus and friends are attacked by Trommel and the other guado. Two years later in 'Final Fantasy X-2', the life for this man is very different.

He no longer feels hate once he finds out the truth of Seymour and the murders he committed, and therefore he hates the actions he himself took and falls into a state of depression and regret.
4. A race of odd looking creatures took their place in a wooden village sitting amongst the trees of a giant forest. The male and female species of this race live apart and are very strict with the 'word of the wood'. Breaking this is exactly what our poor character does and is thus exiled from their home. What is this character's name?

Answer: Fran

In the Eurypt Village live the viera, a 'rabbit' like race with bunny ears and little clothing. In the game you rarely come into contact with the males, but Fran finds her female 'sisters' and begs for their forgiveness for when she turned her back on them and left the village.

Not receiving this forgiveness she leaves them again to travel with the 'humes' in a quest much greater than any faced by her caged viera family.
5. One of the 'Final Fantasy' games held more evil events than many others, and even the main character started off as an evil man indeed. A ruthless king, blinded by greed and insanity, longed for those famous crystals, and the betrayal of a best friend broke the heart of our leading man, but he soon gained the help of many friends of different races including a summoner and a ninja. What game was this?

Answer: 'Final Fantasy IV'

'Final Fantasy IV' was, as the number suggests, one of the first games, and was therefore very popular when it came out. The main character, Cecil, takes many innocent lives as a dark knight searching for the crystals for his power hungry king. After realizing his king's insanity, Cecil could no longer complete his missions because of his conscience.

He turns his back on the kingdom, and sadly for him, his best friend Kain the dragoon, betrays him and takes to the side of the game 'baddie' Golbez.
6. Isn't it annoying when you die in the first few minutes of a game? Well, Square Enix decided that 'Final Fantasy II' would deliver this rude beginning, but the storyline that followed was full of excitement. The main character, Firion, is a close friend to Maria, Guy, and Leon, but one of these characters disappears from the group at the beginning after the 'unbeatable' battle. Who is this character?

Answer: Leon

After awakening in Fynn from the battle, Firion, Guy, and Maria are struck by the fact that their fourth friend (brother to Maria) is missing, and set out to find him. Upon finding him, they realize that he is a 'dark knight' and the same one that is being hunted for wreaking havoc across the land.

He is trying to gain power from a 'fell emperor', but Firion and friends convince him to return to their side to seal away the source of his power lust.
7. Bartz was the hero of one specific game after investigating a meteor strike sight. He was fairly young main character at the age of twenty with a tremendous fear of heights that affects him later in the game. He was born in a small town called Lix. After the death of his mother, his father takes him beneath his wing, but then died only fourteen years later, leaving Bartz alone at a young age. What game does Bartz belong to?

Answer: 'Final Fantasy V'

On an uneasy day, a meteorite plunges into the earth, and Bartz is left to investigate the strange happening. Upon doing this he meets a young woman named Lenna whom is being attacked, so Bartz, being the nice young man he is, rescues her. He seems to be the protector, saving his friends that gather as the game progresses from quiet a number of enemies.

As the game progresses we learn it is another crystal saving game, and that elements play a big part. Bartz himself is connected to 'wind', and therefore the game seems to truly begin around that factor, the main area being the Wind Shrine.
8. This next character has shown their true colours in previous games, but they finally get their own to shine in when it reached 2006. The game was not as successful as people had hoped it would be, but it was a lot of fun with guns and bullets everywhere! With different fighting, weapons, views, and characters, this was a 'darker' game, focusing on death and a psychopathic group that longs to bring the world to an end. What was this game called?

Answer: 'Final Fantasy VII - Dirge of Cerberus'

'Dirge of Cerberus' was an excitement-starter when it was released, but the smiles did not last as people became disappointed with the lack of gameplay other than shooting. It was a step away from the normal game tactics with the gun being the primary weapon and battle becoming as real-time as it can get with no waiting.

There was only one main character, Vincent, whom had finally taken the leading role for himself, and boy did he take it! We found out about his past love, Lucrecia, whom had strong ties with Sephiroth's beginning, and we realize that Chaos lies within Vincent, begging to take away his control.
9. Yes, 'Final Fantasy VII' was the leading game as soon as it was released, and because of this, other games were created, taking place at different times before or after the famous adventure of 'Final Fantasy VII', but in which of these games did Aerith find her true love? It was a male, I'll give you that tip, and he was a SOLDIER. In what game did the pair fall for each other?

Answer: 'Crisis Core'

Aerith Gainborough fell for the cocky SOLDIER Zack Fair after he fell through the roof of the church where she spent most of her time tending to flowers. Crisis Core was a touching game as their relationship progressed (very awkwardly might I add). It was released for the PSP in 2008, and it was quiet a hit! Many people loved the main character of Zack Fair, being a compelling, acrobatic, amusing guy, and that seems to be what pulled Aerith in.

Many characters began their 'Final Fantasy VII' adventure here as well as this pair, such as Cloud Strife and Tifa Lockheart, but most eyes were on the cute little pair that blossomed in the game.
10. Last question, and I think it is time to bring in another couple. This relationship ended many years before in the game, but it is because of the pair being torn apart all that time ago that the game has a plot. The man of the pair was blinded by insanity of not being able to protect his girlfriend, and she had the power to possess. What couple was this?

Answer: Shuyin and Lenne

'Final Fantasy X-2' was about friendship and couples. With the three main girls being as close as sisters almost, they were all there for each other when it came to crushes and heartaches. Yuna longed for Tidus, and mistaking him for Shuyin in a sphere, she searches for him relentlessly.

They all find out though, that it is indeed Shuyin whom is threatening Spira with his evil machine Vegnagun, and all because of the death of him and his girl Lenne. She too played a major role in this, possessing Yuna through a dressphere and leading her to Shuyin to put a stop to his wild actions and pass on with him.
