Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In this game, normal Zombies can not be killed with headshots.

Answer: False

Okay, okay. This one's a little bit incorrect. One thing you'll note going into this game is that unlike the original games where proper aim (as if there was an easy way) would create a direct headshot to save your ammunition, the remake of "Resident Evil 2" doesn't hold your hand quite so much. Since this game uses the over-the-shoulder third-person view, you need to aim and fire properly, and sometimes that will mean that headshots equal an instant KO and sometimes that will mean you'll unload tons of ammunition into a Zombie.

There's no guarantee. That said, the zombies this time around are resilient...and can die to headshots.
2. Lickers are especially susceptible to which of these secondary weapons?

Answer: Flash Grenades

There are only three types of Secondary Weapons in the game and two are Grenades. It just so happens that Lickers-- awful creatures with exposed brains, long tongues, and sharp teeth and claws-- struggle with light. First encountered in the halls of the RPD Building, Lickers can often be avoided by taking calm, quiet steps instead of by running and kiting, but that won't necessarily be possible if you're being pursued or overwhelmed by other foes.

The best policy is avoidance, but if you're unlucky, heavy firearms and Flash Grenades should give you a better jump...to avoid theirs.
3. Zombie Dogs are found in two spots: the basement of the RPD Building and what other spot, but only if you're Claire?

Answer: The streets of Raccoon City

Known as Cerberus in earlier games, the Zombie Dogs of "Resident Evil 2" don't have any special designation. They still function the same, however. Their fierce leaps and clamping bites cause an inordinate amount of damage for a fast-moving target. Fortunately, the Parking Garage (located next to the Kennel for the RPD building) is the only place Leon will face them. Claire, on the other hand, will also have to deal with them out in the streets as she proceeds to the Orphanage to save Sherry Birkin.
4. Known by a single letter (that's 'Mr. that-letter' to you), this foe stalks the halls of the RPD building in search of you, even in the early game. What letter is he known by?

Answer: X

Mr. X is as vague as they come name-wise, but you'll know him best by the codename Tyrant as well. First appearing when the fire is put out on the crashed helicopter, he'll stomp around the RPD map searching for you until you manage to get into a safe room or far enough away for him to lose track. Within arm's reach he's deadly, but if you stay back you can hopefully kite around him in larger rooms (definitely not in hallways). Unbeatable, he can technically be stunned temporarily (at the cost of a hefty amount of ammo.

In the second story, he'll appear much earlier in the adventure, showing up when you leave the S.T.A.R.S. Office for the first time.
5. The G-Virus, spread into the Sewers, has unique effects. Fighting the Adult G Monsters in the waters there, you'd be wise to hit their weak point. It's which of these?

Answer: Its eye

You won't catch these until you're out of the RPD building, but Raccoon City's sewers seem to be teeming with a little more than infected people and dogs. These bulky, amorphous blobs pack a mean and poisonous punch/bite/vomit, so if you've been stocking up on Blue Herbs, you're finally in the right spot to use them.

The aim with these awful creatures is to shoot their shoulder to reveal a hidden eye. This will be the weak spot to aim for. Besides this, there's no harm in using either fire or electricity to humble these awful spawn.
6. In the "Resident Evil 2" remake, it's possible to be killed by infected cockroaches.

Answer: False

While this was the case in the original N64 version of "Resident Evil 2", it's no longer the case in the remake. The original had a handful of awful creepy crawlies to hate (including gigantic mutant spiders) in the Sewers specifically, but fortunately the only odd denizens of this area are Zombie city workers and G-Adults.

At the worst, Lesser G Monsters can still spawn, birthed from the mouthtube of the G-Adults or, worse, from the body of a living person (like Chief Irons).
7. Who's the only person who faces off against the Alligator in the Raccoon City Sewers?

Answer: Leon

After leaving the Police Department and heading into the streets, Leon will need to follow Ada Wong into the Sewer Entrance so that they can proceed to get away (but only by going deeper). While Claire finds this route through an elevator beneath the Orphanage, Leon will stumble into the waters beneath the city and nearly into the jaws of a mutated gator. To survive the encounter he'll need to navigate the tunnels and blow up the creature with an explosive blast.
8. There are Zombies found in the NEST Laboratory's East Area made of what type of plant?

Answer: Ivy

Ivy Zombies are new to "Resident Evil 2" as they were never in the originals, but they do pose an interesting threat to players that forces them to minimize retracing their steps. In and around the Greenhouse occupied by Plant 43, these G-Virus-infected plants are just as hungry as normal Zombies. To beat them you have to shoot out the three red orbs inside their body (it's not that easy). Alternatively you can blast them with grenades or weapons that do fire, acid, or electrical damage.

They will regenerate, however, if you don't burn them to a complete crisp, and they will kill you outright if they grab you and you lack a Secondary Weapon.
9. Both Leon and Claire will face off against William Birkin in the Bioreactor Room of the NEST labs.

Answer: True

After a couple of earlier encounters with this fearsome foe of the game, Birkin will reemerge once Leon nabs the G-Virus Sample or Claire gets Sherry the antidote. Though Annette will show up to help, it'll all result in a semi-final battle against Birkin in the bottom of the Bioreactor Room, an area which is large enough to suit a battle, but which seems to be convenient for an empowered Birkin (especially since he can lift and throw parts of it around).

The aim here is to shoot his eyes and dodge his blows.

After enough damage he'll collapse to the ground. Certainly that's not it though.
10. The fifth and final form of William Birkin only appears in which location?

Answer: Freight Car

The final boss battle for Leon and Claire will vary in the first story (it's Birkin in his fourth G-form in Claire's and it's the Super Tyrant, Mr. X, in Leon's), but in the second playthrough, regardless of our character, you'll make an escape on the train only to have to face off against William Birkin one last time in his fifth and final form.

As always, damage and dodging is the key as you'll have to avoid the fleshy mass of teeth and claws while unloading ammunition on its typical weak spot-- its eyes. Once the other character (Leon or Claire) can uncouple the train car and send Birkin hurtling off into the explosions detonating in the NEST, they can finally leave all this Raccoon City stuff behind them.
