Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who developed the game?

Answer: Bungie

Bungie is an American video game developer, founded in 1991. It is responsible for such games as "Operation: Desert Storm" (1991), the "Marathon" series (from 1994), and the "Halo" series (from 2001). It was bought by Microsoft in 2000 and then split off again in 2007.
2. What kind of game is it?

Answer: Online first-person shooter

It has been described as a first-person shooter with some MMO (massively multiplayer online) characteristics. It is intended to provide a dynamic playing environment in which in-game events are not necessarily determined by the developer.
3. Which Beatles-connected musician was involved in producing the soundtrack?

Answer: Paul McCartney

McCartney worked with Martin O'Donnell and Michael Salvatori on the game's soundtrack. He also wrote and sang the theme song "Hope for the Future".
4. When is the game set?

Answer: 700 years in the future

The discovery of the Traveler on Mars led to human colonisation of the Solar system and the start of the Golden Age. Some centuries later the appearance an age-old enemy of the Traveler leads to the Collapse. This is followed by the Dark Age and then establishment of the City. Humanity continues to be threatened with extinction, which is where the player comes in.
5. What is the name of the Traveler's enemy which brought on the Collapse?

Answer: The Darkness

Not much is known about the Darkness or what it is as few survived the Collapse. It was the Traveler who saved humanity from being wiped out the last time. The Traveler however is a shadow of its former self and so it falls to the Guardians to battle with the forces of the Darkness.
6. The Guardians consist of three races: Humans, Awoken and which other?

Answer: Exo

The storyline goes that Exos are complex humanoid machines created to defend their creators at some point during the Golden Age. There are three classes of Guardian (Hunters, Warlocks and Titans), each with different abilities. Each class has two subclasses. The player's choice of subclass determines what abilities they have.
7. Where in the City do the Guardians gather when not on missions?

Answer: The Tower

Being under the shadow of the Traveler, the Tower provides a safe haven for the Guardians. It is possible to purchase weapons, decrypt Engrams (encoded crystals), and carry out a variety of other such activities within the Tower. The Tower also houses a spaceship hangar.
8. What is the floating drone which accompanies the Guardians called?

Answer: Ghost

Ghosts appear to have been created by the Traveler after the Golden Age ended. During the game, players can find dead Ghosts in various places and revive them for a Grimoire card.
9. What is the Grimoire?

Answer: Database

Entries to the Grimoire database are unlocked during the game by obtaining Grimoire cards. Cards can be earned in various ways such as reviving dead Ghosts or completing missions. The database is organised into six main categories.
10. There are a few aggressive aliens to battle, each on different planets. Which ones are the insectoids?

Answer: The Fallen

A race of nomadic pirates who were once organised into noble houses, they pillage the remnant of humans, despise the Hive but get along okay with the Vex. They have two pairs of arms and can regenerate them if necessary.
