Released in 1998, for the Japanese market and 1999 for the rest of the world, the Dreamcast became the first home console to have a built-in modem for internet use. The home console also benefited by having support for online gaming. The Dreamcast was short-lived as the Sony PlayStation PS1 would be launched in 2000.
