Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many resources did a team need in Arathi Basin to win?

Answer: 1600

Resources increased in Arathi Basin based upon how many areas on the field, represented by flags, your team actively controlled. The more flags you controlled, the faster your resources increased, and the first team to 1600 resources won.
2. If a Warsong Gulch player accused you of "turtling the flag," which of these did he/she most likely accuse you of?

Answer: Grouping up with healers, making yourself hard to kill and playing with more defense than offense.

Although turtles move slowly, walking slowly would not cause you to be accused of "turtling" unless you were also accompanied by a large number of people/healers. Hiding by yourself has no slang term associated with it, nor does dropping and picking up a flag in rapid succession, unless you were also exploiting somehow in doing those things. "Turtling" in games refers to putting yourself in a unfair defensive position where it's nearly impossible to get killed that usually also forces the game to go on for much longer than is necessary.
3. The abuse of a certain piece of armor worn by flag carriers in Warsong Gulch lead to Blizzard Entertainment changing the level requirements for the armor. What did this armor do?

Answer: Put enemies who hit the wearer to sleep.

This item was widely viewed as cheap tactics at higher levels, especially when used by druids who are fast in travel form. Any melee that hit the bearer of this item would almost always get put to sleep and stay asleep for what seemed like ages.
4. Which of these statements is correct?

Answer: The honor system came before battlegrounds.

For a while after the honor system was released, people were fighting each other in the real world, especially in places with lots of ambush locations such as Western Plaguelands. This brief moment in time made "World of Warcraft" cause players to be constantly watching their backs and it had a much more chaotic war-like feeling of never feeling safe than what it turned into: the majority of PvP being instanced content.
5. Before the dishonorable kill system was removed, which of these actions would result in giving you a dishonorable kill?

Answer: Killing an NPC with a "civilian" tag.

This is what destroyed the town raiding aspect of world PvP. Luckily, battlegrounds are also fun, but it was a sigh of relief to see the dishonorable kill system bite the dust. That sounds like a personal opinion, but it's a view widely shared by most if not all of the game's community. Killing a player over ten levels lower and killing a player with low health each had no effect, and killing an NPC leader actually gave you honor and was originally supposed to be a good source for honor gain.
6. Which of these didn't cause you to drop the enemy's flag if you were carrying it in Warsong Gulch?

Answer: Using Blink as a Mage.

This is what caused the Mage to be one of the better flag runners, and some even claim they were the best (especially if they were also gnomes with escape artist), while most share the view that druids were the best at running the flag. All classes were pretty capable of getting the job done in one way or another, however.
7. Which of these most accurately describes what the berserker buff pick-up did in battlegrounds?

Answer: Increased your damage on enemy targets but increased the damage you took as well.

It's a common misconception that the berserker buff only beneficially buffed you. Although it wasn't a game breaker by any means, the berserker buff did indeed have a negative aspect as well. However, its beneficial aspect increased damage by a higher percentage than its negative.
8. What was the best profession to choose if you wanted to be able to use skills in PvP similar to other class' skills that your class didn't have?

Answer: Engineering

As an engineer, a player could use moves with effects similar to sprint, sap, mind control, vanish, spell reflect, etc, although these effects didn't all work exactly like their class ability counterparts. Alchemy, enchanting, and blacksmithing did not give players these types of abilities, but were definitely useful in their own right.
9. The last PvP rank for Alliance and Horde was Grand Marshal and High Warlord respectively. How many ranks total was there for one side?

Answer: Fourteen

The ranks for alliance progressed as follows: Private > Corporal > Sergeant > Master Sergeant > Sergeant Major > Knight > Knight-Lieutenant > Knight-Captain > Knight-Champion > Lieutenant Commander > Commander > Marshal > Field Marshal > Grand Marshal. The horde ranks worked in exactly the same way, but had different names.
10. PvP rank-based armor sets came from special vendors in instanced areas inside Orgrimmar and Stormwind. In what other way could a player get equipment from participating in PvP?

Answer: Battleground reputation faction rewards.

Each time you increased in a tier of reputation (such as revered > exalted), you could get new reputation-based equipment from a vendor located near the game world location (actual location of the battleground instance entrance) of whatever battleground's reputation you had increased. All the other choices gave you nothing beneficial whatsoever besides something to talk about with your online friends - "Wow, you've gotten 100,000+ honorable kills?!" - not that that wasn't fun as well!
