Apologies everyone, I was still on the I Will Always Love You comparison.

Jolene is a great song. I think Olivia Newton John covered it. But once again, Dolly wins.

And speaking of Nancy....
Nancy and her daddy singing Something Stupid versus Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers singing Island In The Stream. I'm going for the former because I'm a Frank Sinatra obsessive and I can't judge this objectively. And besides, Nancy's vocal is gorgeous on that song. I always find when it's a Frank duet with a female, I tend to concentrate more on the female vocal. Especially the duets he did with Keely Smith.

No, sorry.....there's just something too creepy about a father and daughter singing a love duet. It doesn't matter how well they sing it, it's just not right!

And I love Dolly, so Islands In the Stream for me.

Well they did call it The Incest Song, so I guess you have a point.

When they did the first take, Frank deliberately sang it in a Sylvester The Cat voice. Maybe they should have gone with that take.

Yeah you're right, it's a dumb song, sorry for even mentioning it.

I think I'll let you guys pick the duels.

Hit The Road Jack by Ray Charles Vs Jumpin Jack Flash by The Rolling Stones.

Hit The Road Jack on a technical knockout. In round five. In Madison Square Gardens. On a sunny day in June. Sometime in the 20th Century. Before funtrivia began.

Nancy and Frank singing that song together is SO creepy. Did he sing "Strangers In The Night" with her, too.

I go for the Rolling Stones on this next one.

Jumping Jack Flash Is A Gas, Gas, Gas!

No, Strangers In The Night wasn't a duet. And it's not worthy of Frank who only recorded that song to try to get a hit record. He was up against the youth market in the mid 60's, Beatles etc. and wasn't charting much, if at all. He hated that song but was almost forced to record it in an effort to match it with Rock and Pop music's dominance. Same with another song he hated, My Way. Blame Paul Anka for that one, he wrote new lyrics to an already existing European tune. A total abomination!

I LOVE “Sound of Silence” by Simon and Garfunkel, but I have to agree, Disturbed’s version is great! I got that almost two years ago, still not sick of that one.

I adore “Hit the Road Jack” by Ray Charles. Loved it since I was a kid. In band in high school, one of our programs was based on Ray Charles, and my sister had a solo in that song, so that just made it more special for me! “Hit the Road Jack” in a landslide for me. Nice comparison, Jack! (haha)

It’s regrettable that duet was seen as creepy; too bad it wasn’t a different song. I’d like to think it’d have been great.

How about Boston songs: More Than a Feeling VS Peace of Mind?

I like both Jack songs, so it's really difficult to choose, but I have to go for Jumpin Jack Flash just because it always reminds me of the movie of the same name, specifically the scenes where Whoopi Goldberg is trying to decipher the lyrics (before Google was a thing) and then when she's being dragged along the road in a telephone booth, trying to tell the police she needs rescuing.
"I'm a small black woman in a big silver box!"
Classic.

More Than A Feeling.
It's one of those tracks that gets everybody singing along at parties and nights out, so evokes memories of drunken revelry.
Me watching other people drunk, usually, as I can get wasted on one double Jack and Coke do I don't drink much. I'm a total lightweight.

Watching your friends drunk is way more fun than being drunk.

More Than A Feeling is one of the songs that radio stations have been playing ever since its release and is still fantastic. I can never tire of that song plus every guy has had a Mary Ann at some point in their life. Gilligan, for one!

No honestly, it's timeless and it was Rolling Stone's 500th greatest song of all time. Just a bit of useless trivia there, those polls are dicey at the best of times but the fact they put it on the list must mean something.

Peace Of Mind is also great, in fact that entire debut album is great.

Yeah, sectant, when I see lists like that I'm divided... they hold weight just in the fact that it may be based on a large number's opinion, whereas I, and only I, decide what I consider the best/worst!

Peace of Mind for me... amazing song. I heard it a few days while brushing my teeth and I'm not embarrassed to say I almost choked because I was banging my head a little!

What about Jackson Browne... The Pretender or Running on Empty?

Running On Empty for me. The opening track to a great album.

I enjoy both! But for me it's The Pretender.
Random side note, my favorite from him is probably Doctor My Eyes.

"Running On Empty" for me, although I don't personally like Jackson Browne. I don't personally like a lot of front men, mostly because of the way they treat or treated women. I don't like Axl Rose, either, but I love his music. It's a dilemma.

I know what you mean. Sinatra and John Lennon were utter jerks at times, yet somehow they're my heroes, musically speaking.

I guess you just need to separate the art from the man.

Elle, you make a great point. I feel like I could compose an essay just discussing separating careers VS personal lives.

I will never like Kobe Bryant, Ben Roethlisberger, Jameis Winston, etc. These are all American sports figures who have all been accused of sexual assault… rape. I can’t root for rapists.
Nobody is a saint. Everyone has faults.
One of my favorite bands… their lead singer was accused of arguably the worst crime ever. He plead guilty to attempt but not the act. He’s a monster. I really struggled with that. He is a horrible person, but his music inspired me, moved me! What am I supposed to do about it? What if he wasn’t that way during some of the band’s early work? Was he always like that?
FACT: he’s a monster
FACT: I love so many of his songs.
I am obsessed with music. I can’t make myself stop loving music either. What does that make me?
It’s easier for me to dislike sports figures when I haven’t been following their careers and don’t know them that well. But if I learned one of my favorite bands was one of the bad guys, it would devastate me. So much to think about.

Jen..Best thing to do is not think about it. Or to remember that fame means a sense of entitlement to a lot of celebrities and they become twisted in their view of what they can and can't do. They seem to believe they're above the law and can get away with anything. Weinstein, Cosby, such a long list. Inexcusable but a sad fact nevertheless.

Every Little Thing Is Magic is my choice. Every Breath You Take is very popular at weddings, chosen by the bride and groom themselves, which is extraordinary because it's not a love song, it's a stalker song! "Yep, good luck with that marriage!"
