I was a Benatar junkie when she was at her peak. Had all her albums from debut to her live album. That was a double vinyl and one side had new studio recordings including the longer, never played on the radio version of Love Is A Battlefield. I'll go for Heartbreaker because it kicks off her debut album, In The Heat Of The Night. Reply #241. Sep 05 18, 4:52 PM |

Yeah, I choose Heartbreaker too. That's another one that's fun to play on Guitar Hero, the game where I can pretend I'm master of guitars! Reply #242. Sep 06 18, 9:57 AM |

So Jen, do you play the main riff or some of the lead guitar? Two more by Pat: Love Is A Battlefield vs We Live For Love The pleasing thing about Battlefield is it got a lot of anti Benatar people here onside. They all loved it. We Live For Love is very atypical early Benatar. Not one of her finest moments. Reply #243. Sep 06 18, 2:16 PM |

All lead guitar, baby! I love the solo near the end. It's just a lot of fun! I'll go with Love Is A Battlefield... you're totally right, I haven't really met anyone (Benatar fan or not!) who dislikes that one! This one might be hard... it's a three-fer! Avril Lavigne Complicated VS Sk8er Boi VS I'm With You I have allegiance to Sk8er Boi for introducing me to her music... I'm With You is a great one, one my cousin and I sang together all the time when it was out... but I gotta go with Complicated. That might be my favorite of hers. Lots of wisdom coming from a young girl. Reply #244. Sep 07 18, 10:00 AM |

Neil Geraldo on lead, Pat's hubby. Fantastic you play those solos, can only imagine the fun you have. Okay, Avril now...those three songs are on her debut album Let Go. That's a great debut album. One of the best of this century. I'm With You is the standout ballad, Sk8er Boi is fun, Complicated is what drew me to her initially via Weird Al Yankovic's parody, Constipated. I've always told people she's like Alanis Morrisette with maybe a better voice and not as harsh an attitude or lyricist compared to Jagged Little Pill. Both Canadian too. I'll go for I'm With You, it's so poignant. Let's go to Alanis now...You Learn vs Right Through You (from Jagged Little Pill) Reply #245. Sep 07 18, 1:35 PM |

Jagged Little Pill is great! I forgot both Alanis and Avril are Canadian. I think Alanis, at least in her own respective debut, was much angrier. Interesting comparison! My vote, Right Through You juuuust edges You Learn. Another Alanis Morrissette? Head Over Feet VS Ironic Ironic is arguably her biggest hit and the song that drew me to her. I remember singing it with my friends, takes me back! Ironically, haha, I choose Head Over Feet, my favorite song of hers. The way she describes herself is so reminiscent of characters I have written. It was only years and years later I realized this! Love it. Reply #246. Sep 10 18, 11:19 AM |

Yep, Head Over Feet. Ironic is a good song but a few of her examples of irony aren't really irony. 'Rain on your wedding day' isn't irony. Rain on your wedding day in a city where it hasn't rained for fifty years is irony. Sort of. Rain On The Scarecrow versus Lonely Ol' Night by John Mellencamp Reply #247. Sep 11 18, 1:01 AM |

Rain On The Scarecrow for me. I know Lonely Ol' Night a little better, but Rain is low and moody, and I like that. Same artist... Pink Houses VS Small Town Small Town was one of my senior class songs. But I'm not too big a fan of it. Pink Houses is dang catchy, that's my choice. Reply #248. Sep 11 18, 11:00 AM |

Don't know Pink Houses. Do know Small Town. So I'll have to pick that. Boys Of Summer by Don Henley versus Life's Been Good To Me by Joe Walsh. Dead heat again. Reply #249. Sep 11 18, 10:41 PM |

Dang! Well, I get the weird guitar section of Life’s Been Good To Me stuck in my head, so I’ll narrowly go with Boys Of Summer. Let’s go with some more Don Henley: The End Of The Innocence VS The Last Worthless Evening While I enjoy the piano of Innocence my pick goes to The Last Worthless Evening. I like the romance of it. End of Innocence maybe. Been a while since I've heard either of the two. Don't Come Around Here No More versus Breakdown by Tom Petty. Reply #251. Sep 13 18, 10:29 PM |

I'll go with Breakdown. Was he talented or what? Tom Petty Part 2. Refugee VS Free Fallin' Free Fallin' is one of his bigger hits, but I love that chorus of Refugee. Don't have to be a refugeeeeee... Reply #252. Sep 14 18, 9:40 AM |

Yeah, Refugee for mee. But Full Moon Fever album, with Free Fallin', is terrific. I absolutely love Don't Come Around Here No More. One of my favourite Petty songs. Shall we do John Lennon? Instant Karma v Happy Xmas (War Is Over) Big contribution from Yoko in the latter, and just such a great song. You can never tire of it and it doesn't need to be Xmas to play it. Reply #253. Oh, I've got to go with Happy Xmas. That one's a staple for me! How about some Beatles: Blackbird VS Imagine Don't kill me passionate Beatles fans, I'm just curious what's preferred! (For me, that is Blackbird) Reply #254. Sep 17 18, 10:46 AM |

Has to be Blackbird Jen, Imagine isn't the Beatles. It's an ex Beatle. Which I'm sure you knew. Maybe you had a music version of a typo. Blackbird (Beatles) versus Bluebird (the other ex Beatle) Blackbird wins again. Reply #255. Sep 17 18, 2:15 PM |

Haha, sorry about the loose criteria for the last VS! Definitely casual there. I pick Blackbird too! That one is on a roll! Let’s stick with the black theme for a moment, with Black Sabbath: Paranoid VS The Wizard Reply #256. Sep 18 18, 10:19 AM |

The Wizard. I like the harmonica. Sabbath again. Fairies Wear Boots v Sabbath Bloody Sabbath Both among my favourite Sabbath tracks. Boots has very funny lyrics and Ozzy sings them with perfect Ozzyness. Reply #257. Sep 18 18, 4:52 PM |

I have to go with Sabbath Bloody Sabbath! Those are some serious lyrics there. Randomly, how about some Aerosmith: Walk This Way VS Dream On Dream On for me. Have I done this one before? My memory, I tell you... Reply #258. Sep 19 18, 10:40 AM |
