Haha, wow! What are the odds?!? I hope you enjoy your CD :)

I choose Fading Fast, it was smooth (I know, I use odd adjectives).

Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison
VS
Green Eyed Lady by Sugarloaf

(this VS is dedicated to a certain Lily out there)

I'm sure the CD will bring back a few memories. Go Go's went on to all sorts of solo careers and new band lineups. Bangles etc.

I forgot to pick Synchronicity 2 and Our Lips Are Sealed earlier.

Have to go for Brown Eyed Girl, have no idea who Sugarloaf are.

Two from The B52's:
Dance This Mess Around vs Private Idaho.
I can't pick, love both of them equally and Kate Pierson on any song is good enough for me.

(I'm sure Lily and co. will return soon)

Haha, I too don’t know Sugarloaf at all, just Green-Eyed Lady (Green-eyed lady, ocean lady! Child of natuuuuure, friend of man)!

I’m picking Private Idaho. I listened to both songs and was impressed by the guitar in each. It reminded me of Franz Ferdinand, ever heard of them?

How about some Bonnie Raitt:
Something to Talk About
VS
I Can’t Make You Love Me

I love both! Something to Talk About is so cute and unique, but I Can’t Make You Love Me hits me hard every time I listen to it. I feel like it’s very relatable.

Early B52's had Ricky Wilson, Cindy's brother, on guitar. He died very young in 1985. It may account for their different sound on later songs.

Don't know any Bonnie Raitt. I know she's Country but that's about it. I know very few Country songs. Walking After Midnight v Crazy by Patsy Cline maybe? Those two I really like. And the better known Dolly Parton songs. And a sprinkling of other artists here and there. I remember as a kid, my sister who is much older than me, had a couple of Marty Robbins singles on 45. More Western than Country. Is Glen Campbell considered Country? Wichita Lineman is fantastic.

Huh… I’ve never considered Bonnie Raitt country, but I only know a few of her songs. Those two I mentioned definitely don’t sound country (to me at least, but that’s just an opinion). I don’t know much country, either.

The Patsy Cline songs were so charming. Such nice, gentle, beautiful sounds. Dang, which to choose?!? I guess Walkin’ After Midnight. Hard one.
How about Patsy VS Peggy?
Walkin’ After Midnight by Patsy Cline
VS
Fever by Peggy Lee

Maybe she's Blues then. So many artists out there I know nothing about. I do know she's a Grammy winner. I'll get around to listening to those two songs you picked to see what Bonnie's music is.

I have a soft spot for Walking After Midnight after it was used in a fantastic half hour drama called Sapphire Man. It was part of a series called Next Stop Hollywood.

Fever is classic Peggy Lee.

I'm choosing Nina Simone for the next duel.
Feeling Good vs My Baby Just Cares For Me. Probably Feeling Good by a whisker.

I like how shows can sometimes expose us to music like that. Maybe you’ve already heard it, but added in with a dramatic scene makes it special, or it really shows us something new. That’s always a happy, unexpected delight when something catches your ear!

Oh, you put Feeling Good against any song and I have to say Feeling Good is going to win most of the time! I love that song, seriously!

I have two random VS:
Another Nina Simone:
I Put a Spell on You
VS
Sinnerman

I… am at a loss. I’ve known I Put a Spell on You for longer but Sinnerman is unique and so easy to listen to.

And, for your own enjoyment, which of these remakes do you like better for Feeling Good?
Michael Buble
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Edwsf-8F3sI
VS
Muse
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CmwRQqJsegw

Michael Buble has a great voice. The real winner for his version is that amazing brass sound! It has such power, and so much swagger.

Muse’s version rocks! I perhaps like their beginning better. I appreciate their take on this awesome song.

Nina makes any song unique. I'll pick a cross between the two....I Put A Spell On Sinnerman.

There are certain words that do not get mentioned in this household. One of them is Buble. Sorry Jen, persona non grata. Nothing personal, but....Frank, remember? (Accept no substitutes)

Nah, he's okay. Sort of.

Better go back to rock music and play it safe:
Astronomy, studio version vs Astronomy live version by Blue Oyster Cult.

Astronomy from the Some Enchanted Evening live album has a guitar solo that I wish would never end. One of my favourite ever solos. So I'll opt for that version.

This song also has the weirdest of weird lyrics. One example:
"Come Suzy dear, let's take a walk, just down there along the beach
I know you'll soon be married, and you'll want to know where wind comes from."

Why?

Another example:
"And don't forget my dog, fixed and consequent."

No, I certainly won't forget.

Just typical Blue Oyster Cult I guess.

Okay, seems like Astronomy has been lost in the stars somewhere. Let's play really safe.

Hey Jude vs Let It Be. (Beatles) and/or:

Let It Be (from Let It Be album) or Let It Be (from Let It Be..Naked album)

The latter is without the Phil Spector additions, stripped down to how Paul McCartney originally wanted it. And it totally blows the better known version away.

.....and I'm back!

I too pick the live version of Astronomy. It seems like the only people in the world who appreciate BOC are on this board!

I have to go with Hey Jude. I have fond memories of it growing up.

I definitely must listen to Paul McCartney's preferred version of Let It Be. Interesting...

Really prominent crunchy guitar on the original Let It Be and none of Spector's excesses.

Stealing from the one-hit wonders record:

Counting The Beat by The Swingers
VS
My Sharona by The Knack

Boy, that Swingers singer is hideous, isn’t he? That’s a joke, by the way!

Two irresistibly catchy songs. My Sharona maybe. With long version of guitar solo.

Not sure if I've ever seen a vid of The Swingers. All I know is they were from New Zealand. Had a big hit with Counting The Beat in Australia and then vanished.

Typically I don't know what artists look like, but I didn't own that Swingers song so I watched them on Youtube.
It's fun sometimes to see what an artist looks like!

Awww, I enjoyed Time After Time the very first time I heard it. It's one of those songs I never seem to get sick of!

I'm hungry. Bananas sound good. How about:
Bananarama

Cruel Summer
VS
Venus?

Umm...what can I say apart from I don't know them that well. I know they had a big hit here but I can't remember what it was. Possibly deliberately.

Go again Jen. And sorry.

Bananarama. Did John Peel give them that name?

(Peel was an English DJ who helped break a lot of new bands.)

Hey Jennifer Juniper, where are you?

Okay, I'll pick...

Kodachrome vs Loves Me Like A Rock by Paul Simon. K Chrome for me.

Sorry! Long weekend then of course had to play catch-up at work.

I’ll go with Kodachrome too, but that one is a toss-up for me!
How about some Pat Benatar:

Hit Me With Your Best Shot
VS
Heartbreaker
