Laura (my fiancee) has been my hero since I first met her. She has helped me through the bad times and the days that I have felt lousy. Homer Simpson is a hero also. I just love him. He is so funny. I have watched The Simpsons since I was 3 and have loved it ever since. Reply #1. Mar 28 09, 11:04 AM |

My Grandpa. He died in 2003, but that means nothing - still my hero. The hardest working, kindest, etc. person I've ever met. Gregory House is quite a hero of mine. I mean, I can whip out the clever comments rather quickly, but nothing like he does. Of course, Jesus. And anyone who has gotten a badge for Word Wizards - I salute you. Reply #2. Likewise from pages of history:- Hector (Troy),Octavian, Boadicea, Raedwald (Saxon King), Hereward the Wake, Watt Tyler, John de la Pole, Prince Rupert,Admiral Cochrane, Jefferson Davis, General John Hood, Admiral Jellicoe, Winston Churchill, Margaret Thatcher. No idea what that list may reveal about me! Reply #3. Mar 28 09, 3:19 PM |

Historically it would have to be Eleanor of Aquitaine. She was just the most amazing strong, intelligent, determined woman in a time when most women simply weren't able to take control of their own lives. In "real life" it would have to be my hubby for reasons too many to state. Reply #4. Mar 28 09, 4:45 PM |

Like you Cym, I too am fond of the radicals!:-) Nelson Mandela was the one who sprung to mind as I looked at the Title of this thread. Che Guevara. Kate Sheppard. Jesus. Sir Ed Hillary. Martin Luther. Mother Teresa. Rosa Parks. Martin Luther King Jnr. Dame Whina Cooper. Te Whiti O Rongomai.[The first person in history (as far as I know) to use peaceful protest as a means of rebellion against the invading colonial forces.] And for personal reasons: My Nana (From my Dad's side) even though she passed away two years ago, I still feel her close by. God Bless you Nan xox Reply #5. Mar 28 09, 10:53 PM |

Since I am first and foremost a Christian, Jesus is my role model and I suppose you would say hero. My real life hero would most definitely be my husband who was raised by an abusive alcoholic mother along with 6 other brothers and sisters. At the age of 18 he joined the Marine Corps and was sent to Viet Nam. He came home at 19 with a bullet in the side of his head. He has NEVER allowed that injury to prevent him from leading a full life, including working at the same dealership service department for thirty years. And because of that, the VA chooses not to allow him 100% disability. He has provided a more than adequate life for me and our two sons. We own our own home and have absolutely no debts. He never asked for sympathy, he just handled what was given him. Reply #10. Apr 05 09, 7:21 PM |

Ooops - should have said - I never have to look far for inspiration. I am the spiritual and emotional support - he is the financial support. It's worked for 32 years - and counting. Reply #13. Apr 06 09, 6:22 AM |

Yes Daver don’t pull my leg. Che Guevara? That doesn’t raise a an eyebrow but Joe McCathy now that’s going overboard. Reply #16. Apr 07 09, 8:40 PM |

First of all, my Mum: I don't know anybody stronger, kinder or more gifted than her and she has constantly supported me through life and always been there when others haven't, no matter what. Secondly: Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. As a person, I admire him and the fact that he has good morals and stands out as one of the "better" celebrities of our time and someone who deserves to be a role model for kids. And Thirdly: My dog, Barney. No matter what happens to him, being attacked by another dog or having the life scared out of him, he's back to his normal, happy self in 5mins - probably a lot to do with "living in the moment", but I think there's a lesson to be learned there! :-) Reply #17.
