As we anticipated from previous experience, a few authors were able to complete this challenge while using all available templates. Three authors achieved that UNIVERSAL goal: • JanIQ (who successfully strategised the first 14 quizzes so that only 6 more were required) • wellenbrecher (who needed an extra 6 quizzes) • Ponycargirl (who had the biggest output in the month, with an extra 8 quizzes needed to cover the categories. None of these chose the crossword option – maybe next year. Reply #301. Dec 10 23, 1:42 AM |

The following players also contributed to the cause: • BigTriviaDawg • Jennifer5 • psnz Special mention should be made of the contributions of psnz, who wrote 20 crosswords, one in each FT category. Those of use who are still struggling with our first crossword template are full of admiration! Reply #305. Dec 10 23, 1:50 AM |

QuiWriMo is all about setting yourself personal goals, and a number of authors surprised themselves by covering more criteria than they had originally stated was their target. Some did not write as much as they expected, for one reason or another. But everyone mentioned here wrote something for the site, helping to keep this the best trivia site around. The new templates make it difficult to count questions in the traditional way, so all quizzes, no matter how many questions they included, were counted as 10 points in order to make a number to describe this year’s total that was of the same magnitude as in previous years when we counted questions. At the start of the month authors had set a total target among themselves of 1960 points; the final tally was 2380, which compares favourably to last year’s total of 2188. Despite (I sensed) some initial trepidation at the changed parameters, once again our authoring community has come through, and produced both quality and quantity! With the introduction of yet another template during November, who knows what will be in store for next year’s QuiWriMo challenge. Reply #306. Dec 10 23, 1:51 AM |

Now that QuiWriMo has gone and gone, anyone who is feeling writing withdrawal symptoms may find inspiration from the push to complete the 2023 Limited Edition challenge (stickied to the top of the board). It would be fantastic to get all the lyrics used in quiz titles by the end of the month. Reply #307. Dec 10 23, 1:51 AM |

Thanks for all your hard work keeping track of this L_T. I over-achieved and wrote more than initially planned. I found having to use the new formats actually gave me more of an incentive to come up with ideas. Reply #308. Dec 10 23, 3:15 AM |

Thank you so much for setting up this challenge and keeping track of all our efforts! For me, this was a particularly prolific year - my most prolific since I joined FT - and the new QuiWriMo requirements helped me to achieve this important milestone. Already looking forward to next year! Reply #309. Dec 10 23, 6:36 AM |

I wish to echo those sentiments LT... that was a wonderful amendment to format, and a joy to participate in. So much so, that I got my writing mojo back. Than you for all your work in putting this together. Reply #312. Dec 10 23, 5:59 PM |

Much the same regards from my end as well. Work seemed to crop up for me in the biggest way over the past few weeks, so I wasn't able to get to as much as I wanted. :) Reply #314. Dec 11 23, 7:52 AM |

While I am happy to take the credit for what felt to me like the most enjoyable QuiWriMo for a long time, a lot of the credit should go to kyleisalive, who gave me the idea for the facelift. The change was as much for me as it was for everyone else - I realised that I was anticipating November as a chore to get on with, not as a chance to reinvigorate my writing. And that, after all, is the point of the project. Reply #315. Dec 11 23, 12:44 PM |

I really dislike the label quiz, I wish we had an option to do that or something else next year as finding something to label I find very difficult, and frustrating, so that is my only request perhaps more alternates not only in the things like adopt a quiz but also in quiz types so that we can all achieve universal if we want without having to do quizzes that we cannot do well. I mean, on something like this, Fun Fill-It is something I generally have zero interest in completing because I don't have solid applications for it up my sleeve. Part of the challenge is overcoming said challenge, and if we start removing methods or substituting alternatives, it kind of takes away from the point. Reply #318. Dec 12 23, 5:01 PM |

Thanks LT - I thought the new format has a great re-imagination of a popular part of the the FT canon. Reply #319. Dec 12 23, 7:16 PM |

As Kyle said, the point of the Universal level is to push authors to their limits. I admire those who reach it and have never achieved it myself. I don't find label quizzes easy either and avoided creating one this time, but maybe next November I'll be braver. Reply #320. Dec 13 23, 4:13 AM |
