Apparently, Bach LOVES Halford. In another live video, he talked about how excited he was to be on stage with this guy he has always admired from... Phoenix. Phoenix??? Isn't Halford British?

But Bach was a little *too* excited and he used Very Bad Words, so I didn't post that one.

Live videos are so much more fun than the "sculpted" ones. Especially the old videos, before autotune, which basically ruined everything. Anyone can sing with autotune.

I know you will be shocked, Kebbin, but I don't like that song. Sorry!

In other football news, that fumble Paxton Lynch just made was the craziest thing I have ever seen, resulting in a Chiefs touchdown. I think 5 people must have touched that ball before someone actually picked it up and ran with it.

This was the craziest football day I've seen in a long time, Mark. It really hosed up my trivia, too!

Yeah, Rockin' Rob moved to Phoenix when he formed the band Fight right after he left the Priest Beast. That's been like 25 years ago now. Might still be there to this day, I don't know.

Yes, Rob is very much British. Grew up in the Birmingham area the same as Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden and God knows how many other British metalheads.

Like my new icon? My teammies decided to get new ones to bring in the new year - at least the small handful who actually communicate to each other - and I went along with them.

Gonna watch those Oklahoma Sooner boys in the Rose Bowl today, Elle? Man, I am all fired up for this one. Should be a total war. Should be a lot of running and passing and tackling and cheering going on. That's my prediction and I'm sticking to it! :-)

Hmmmmm..... I do like Oklahoma, but football messes up my trivia.

Kebbin, I saw you post something somewhere about TV series you like.

I found and started watching "Sons Of Anarchy" a couple of weeks ago. At first, they released all of Season 7, the last season, so I just grabbed it and let it sit there.

Then, they started releasing one episode from Season 1, every night at my midnight, so I set my DVR to record all of it, one episode at a time.

I am nearing the end of Season 3, so I went to look just one more time to make sure it's all set to record, and...

Seasons 4, 5 and 6 are missing! They're not there, at all. I've searched and searched, and they're just gone. They removed them as an option to record.

No way am I going to skip three years and three seasons and then blast into the last one, so what the heck am I going to do?

I loved "Bachman" played by Stephen King. I didn't see that coming, at all, but the name should have given him away. Talk about a series with an all-star cast. Yow.

This happened with "Breaking Bad," too and also with "The Walking Dead." "Breaking Bad" is now doing a full-on marathon of all episodes from every season, but I finally had to break down and buy all of it on DVD because I needed to watch all of it, in order.

"The Walking Dead" has never released all of it, in order, that I know of, so I finally caved and bought that entire set, through Season 5 since I have everything else recorded, and it won't play on my Blu-Ray player!

So, I've seen 4 episodes from Season 1, not in order, and 4 from Season 2, not in order, none from Season 3, all of Season 4, and then it went to pieces again so I just caved and bought it.

I stopped watching "LOST" when it really went off the rails on a crazy train, and never did finish it. So when I moved, I bought all of that on DVD, too, and just binge-watched all of it. When they turned Sayid into a zombie and Claire was running around with a dead raccoon on her head, it made me mad all over again, but I powered through it, and the ending was just bizarre. Just as I suspected, they LIED to Stephen King when he made them swear they had a plot, they knew where they were going, and they weren't going to end it with a) And then one of them woke up and it was all a nightmare!; or b) They're all dead!; or c) We have no clue where we're going with this, so... The End!

I may have to contact Uncle Stevie on his website, where he is very interactive with his fans, and ask what he thought of those lying writers and that wonky ending.

The only series ending I've ever seen that worse was the ending of "Seinfeld." What the heck were they thinking???

And because it's the Rose Bowl, yeah, I'm going to watch it. Playing football in 75 degrees -- what a concept.

Was it a bird? Was it a plane?

I had quite an eye-opening experience involving the Sons of Anarchy show. I never believed that the stuff we see on TV and the movies would actually cause us to have nightmares, not until that show ended. I had been having some bad dreams for quite some time, I mean really horrible, violent dreams. Well, they all suddenly came to a screeching halt like immediately after the last season of SOA ended. I never would have believed it if I hadn't experienced it for myself. I told myself I was going to try to just watch comedy shows or at least shows that were not nearly as violent, and it has pretty much been that way ever since. I'm not kidding, Elle, some of the dreams I had during those SOA seasons were very, very disturbing and upsetting to me. I can't even remember the last time I had a bad dream now. I just hope that stuff doesn't have the same effect on you as it evidently had on me.

Okay, back to the game! Go Sooners! :-)

That might be the wrong year for that Stealth, but wow...

Bad dreams. Hmmm... The only bad dreams I've been having involve moving and feeling "abandoned." It's not a good feeling, and the dreams are pretty awful. Some of them involve saving my kitties. Those are the worst.

I think I'll sleep better tonight after seeing that Stealth Bomber, though.

Do you have a thing for the Wright brothers by any chance, Elle? :-p

Or how about that studly Robert Conrad guy when he did that Baa Baa Black Sheep show? Remember that one, or are you too much of a young whippersnapper for that one?

By the way, when you mentioned that you didn't like the song Delivering the Goods, it's probably because that live version was the first time you ever heard it, and in this particular case, the studio version sounds a lot better. I mean, you can't understand what the hell either one of them are saying on that live one. A lot of times live versions aren't the best first impressions.

The thing is, even if you went and listened to the studio, you already have this mental block in place from hearing the live video that you didn't like, and that's on top of the mental block already there that you have had about Priest your whole life. Just keep in mind that the song was never meant to please everyone right from the very beginning, and it wasn't like Skid Row got together and voted on which Priest tune sucked the most. Anyway, it's no biggie if you can't see the same light that everyone else sees. It definitely doesn't take anything away from me. :-)

Gawd, I can't believe that Rose Bowl game, girlfriend. Oh well, there is always next year.

No, I've never met the Wright Brothers, and I have no clue what Baa Baa Black Sheep is, other than the nursery rhyme.

Okay, okay, I'm going to go listen to "Delivering The Goods" that isn't a live version with anyone, just to make a fair decision about it. But you know I'm not a Priest fan, right? I just don't like them! I don't quite "get" them, at all. And I really don't get Halford. At all.

Okay, I can't dispute that's a great song off the album. He's really hell bent for leather. Maybe it was seeing Flannel Halford that didn't work for me. I listened to him singing with Skid Row again, and it wasn't terrible the second time.

Here's a handy tidbit to know and tell:

Someone paid $1,000 for a pair of Sebastian Bach's boots in Ebay. They were completely worn out and they have to be about a Size 16, but someone really wanted them. They looked like something the cat dragged in! Speaking of hell bent for leather...

I, on the other hand, bought a Skid Row concert t-shirt in Ebay for $5.00, and when it arrived, I realized it's signed by MY very own Bach! And it smells like heaven. Seriously. I can't fully describe the scent, but it's just luscious.

So I put it in a plastic ziplock bag and now it's hermetically sealed. I take it out every once in awhile, just to smell it! But I don't think I'll ever wear it. It's too beautiful!

So Elle finally listens to a whole Priest tune! Woo-hoo! Unbelievable. Was that your first one? I mean from start to finish? No, wait, there is probably the Holy Triad of Priest Radio Tunes - You've Got Another Thing Comin', Breaking the Law and Livin' After Midnight - the only three Priest tunes that will ever be played on any rock station on the face of the earth, forever and ever, amen. Yet they have still sold 50 million records and counting. Wonder how they managed that? Hmmm.

Yeah, the flannel look was kind of freaky on Rob. You should check out his duds in the video Nailed to the Gun by Fight. Don't think he had the flannel shirt but he had the long shorts. I think all of them had the long shorts. Be careful with that one, it will punch you square in the grill hard enough to knock you right through the wall. Harder than anything Skid Row ever even thought about.

Baa Baa Black Sheep was a 70s TV show about a fighter squadron in WWII that starred studly Robert Conrad. If you don't remember that one, I guess there is no way you remember the Wild, Wild West, do you? That one also starred Robert Conrad as the macho Federal agent James West. That was one of my fave shows when I was growing up and on my way to becoming a hairy-chested man. He was like the James Bond of the old west. Had all these gadgets all over him that would enable him to escape all these countless traps and confinements that he was always in.

Anyway, there is really nothing to "get" about Halford other than he is one of the most talented vocalists in the history of rock and roll. You will never find a single professional rocker in any genre of rock music who will dispute that. Anyone who does dispute it is just simply someone who has no idea what they are talking about. I mean, Rob's nickname of "The Voice" wasn't exactly given to him by me or by Rob's mom and dad.

It's the same thing with Priest as a band. You'll never find one soul anywhere in the professional, legitimate music industry who will disagree with the fact that Priest have been one of the most influential bands in the history of rock. The doors that were opened by people like Sabbath and Zeppelin are the same doors that Priest and Maiden splintered into a misty vapor cloud. My personal opinion has absolutely nothing to do with that.

If you liked Halford's Christmas tune, you should check this one out.........

www.youtube.com/watch?v=KTZZBdhtLGg

Talk about a song that will carry you away, I can't really even describe how cool this tune is. Not only that, there is a verse in this song that goes.........

And when the world becomes too much for me
That's when I know that I can't stay
I'm searching for my own serenity
I know I have to get away.......

Let me know when you have listened to that and I will show you a MUCH more fun and entertaining version of that verse for you to sing along to. I'm not steering you wrong here, Elle, you'll see. :-)

Kevin,

I watched "sun" and parts of "she". I didn't see his lips move. One of the vids gave me an image of Rob Halford(I guess it was him) and the other gave me an album cover image. For me, I like to see someone sing and entertain me or the audience, isn't that why they call it entertainment? I like to see the whole band perform, if it's a singer, I'd like to see the singer actually sing and perform the song. He had a nice pleasing voice. It wasn't what I expected.
That's what makes the world go round.
Elvis Presley, Neil Diamond, Karen Carpenter, and Frank Sinatra

No offense intended!

I have no idea what you mean by the "no offense intended", Mark, you didn't say anything the least bit offensive.

I am the same way, I like to see things performed but I also like to just listen to things and allow it to take me to faraway places.

Yes, Rob Halford does indeed have a very pleasant voice. He was an avid student of the opera before he got into metal, and he landed his job fronting Judas Priest after he was overheard singing in the shower, and guess who he was singing? Frank Sinatra. No joke.

Talk about not what you would expect, if you would like to be quite pleasantly surprised when you have the time, you should check out Last Rose of Summer, Before the Dawn and Dying to Meet You, all of them by Priest. None of them are videos, sorry to say, but if you listen to this stuff, you would never in a million years ever guess that it was Priest. I can't even begin to count how many times I have floored people with this stuff and left them with their mouths hanging wide open. People who thought they had Priest all figured out and pigeonholed. These are a few of the songs I tried to get Elle to check out many months ago, but maybe you will actually take the time to do it. I guarantee you won't be disappointed. Oh, and there's one more you really should check out if you do those other three. It's a tune called Epitaph and it's nothing but Rob's voice and a piano. It's from an album called Sad Wings of Destiny, which is where I got my silly username. :-p

By the way, Dying to Meet You is one of those songs that have several different parts, like a song that comes to a complete end with several seconds of total silence, and then another song starts up that is just completely different like it is another song but it's actually all the same song. There are three of them that cover like 8 or 9 minutes, but the part I'm talking about is the very first part. Rob is actually singing in a very low key and he carries a couple of notes out that are just unbelievably long. I have sucked in all the air my lungs can possibly hold and then exhaled at a normal rate until I have pushed out every last bit of it, and I can't do it for as long as Rob carries these notes. No possible way.

By the way, Priest also did a cover of Diamonds and Rust by Joan Baez that you might like. They have a studio version from Sin After Sin - the same album that Last Rose of Summer is on - and there is a live version on Unleashed in the East, but the latter has quite a bit more electricity going on, so you might want to make sure you are listening to the studio version.

These rock and roll outlaws also did a cover of Johnny B. Goode by Chuck Berry, if you can believe that, and this one happens to be an awesome video with stage-diving maniacs and all that, but this one will punch you in the mouth plenty hard enough to knock you off your feet, so just be careful about that one, it plays no games and takes no prisoners. An interesting little tidbit about this Johnny B. Goode tune: it is part of a movie soundtrack. I never saw the movie and can't even tell you the name of it, but it's out there somewhere. Priest are far, far away from being a one-dimensional band, there is no mistake about that, like millions have made over the last 40 years. Their music is not all just a screaming, yelling, hellhammer satanic onslaught, just most of it. :-p

Well, of course I know Wild, Wild West! I wasn't born yesterday...

"She's so mean but I don't care
I love her eyes and her wild wild hair
Dance to the beat that we love best
Heading for the nineties
Living in the wild wild west
The wild wild west"

Kebbin, you assume I don't know what I'm talking about when I tell you I don't LIKE Judas Priest and I don't LIKE Iron Maiden. I'm sure I like a lot of music you don't like. That's what makes the world go 'round.

"Round and around and around we go!"

You haven't noticed there are a lot of bands only the guys love? Sure, you have. I think they're probably more raw. When girls and the guys love the band, something magical is happening. When only the girls love the band... I'm not sure what that is, and I can't think of anyone like that other than maybe One Direction, and do boy bands even count?

I like music before autotune, though, that's for certain. And I love live music, to include videos. The professional grade are great, mind you, but if you can't sing it live, then you probably can't really sing it.

Led Zep never did "When The Levee Breaks" live because they couldn't reproduce that sound of the drums without the staircase. I'm not saying they're not great -- they are and I love them. They plagiarized a lot of songs, though, but that's a topic maybe for another day. And Led Zep was awesome live. Obviously, they could sing and play.

Show me one person who doesn't love The Stones!

Elle,

I watched an interview on a Sunday Morning TV show about a year ago, where Keith Richards was interviewed at his country estate. He is a very interesting old man(any man older than me is an old man). You probably already know this but here goes, he snorted his father's ashes, he didn't explain why. The fact that he did that is strange, but the facts that he remembered doing it and admitted doing it, is a wholly different level of strange.
There are a few people still alive that I would like to spend an afternoon with just talking about stuff. He is one of those people.

Mark
