What prompted my post was a set I had recently in the 'Point Tree' game, where time is very limited. Every questions was 8-10 lines long, so I ended up just passing on every one, which of course scored ok, but that doesn't seem to be the objective. M Reply #41. Jul 02 13, 2:48 AM |

I do not know where else to ask this so here goes! How do quizzes get selected for official quizzes IE Quiz of the Hour, Daily Challenges, ordinary Challenges etc. What can authors do to get their quizzes selected? Reply #42. Jul 02 13, 2:54 AM |

Only Terry knows for sure, zippolover. It's probably mostly random, with the selected quizzes most likely having to meet a certain standard in order to be in the pool. Reply #43. Jul 02 13, 8:18 AM |

It is indeed (as far as I've been told) random, all pulled from pools depending on popularity, rating, difficulty, etc. Reply #44. Jul 02 13, 9:00 AM |

Thank you. Where can I suggest that he tightens the rules, please. I had a 5 question quiz in the QOTH a while back and did not think that it ought to have been there. Reply #45. Jul 03 13, 3:29 PM |

Me again, butting in, but I would appreciate clarification. I've had two conflicting messages recently from editors regarding allowable photos, so can someone please clarify... Here are the relevant parts of the two messages: "...only "recognizable pictures" of living people are disallowed. The pictures in this quiz are all public domain images of dead people, which I believe is ok. I remember I had to leave out a few more recent poets because the images were too recent. I'd certainly allow images of this sort in quizzes I edit..." and "as I understand it no recognisable faces are to be in photos unless the subject even if the subject has been dead 100 years, 300 years, or is a painting or sculpture (seriously, you can't put in a pic of a sculpture of Queen Vic, for example, even if by definition, it was meant to be seen!) I reckon the best place to ask for a definitive answer is in the Authoring Chat boards..." Can someone clarify, since being allowed to use photos of historic people would certainly make writing photo quizzes both easier and a lot more interesting for both the writers and the readers. Thanks Marc Reply #47. Jul 08 13, 9:05 PM |

Yup-- Feedback Forum for this one. I've amended the title to this thread. Although many editors do frequent the Lounge, not all of them may step in to answer your query, so it's best posted to the Forums. :) Reply #51. Jul 10 13, 8:51 AM |

OK. Maybe I'm being dense, but... Followed the link you posted to the Forum, logged in and then went to the Quiz Authoring link where it now told me at the top to log in. Logged in again, but it put me back in the main forum page, where it showed me logged in still. Tried going to the actual thread in the author's section on photo quizzes, but it again showed me as logged out. Logged in and again found myself back at the main forum menu. Hmmm While on the thread, I did also look for something that said 'post reply' or 'start new thread' but couldn't see that either, so assume I had to be logged on to post... any suggestions? Thanks M Reply #52. Jul 10 13, 11:58 AM |

Probably you did not register yourself in the forums. It is necessary to create a forums account to be able to post there. I don't know why anything else would happen. Reply #53. Jul 10 13, 12:45 PM |

Not dense at all, it just does not sense until after you have done it. The Discussion Forums are treated as a separate entity. You need to register on there. Use the same name and details as for the Quiz side of FT and away you go. Reply #54. Jul 12 13, 1:25 AM |

What browser are you using, EnglishJedi? My Forum account doesn't convene with Internet Explorer 10: if I use IE10, the computer keeps telling me I'm logged out - even after I log in. Reply #56. Jul 13 13, 9:15 AM |

Have all the EDQs been done or is there more? If there is more, then I'm curious to know why the wait is longer than usual. Reply #60. Jul 28 13, 3:25 PM |
