When I am in the Ocean or large body of salt water, I feel at home, I have no fear whatsoever. When we go to the beach, I swim way out, like maybe a mile or more out. I always let the lifeguard know what's going on, so he doesn't try to whistle me in. I have had chats with dolphins when I was out in their lanes. I've had dolphins chase away sharks when I was way out there, it's as if I was one of them. I know, it all seems contrived and unbelievable, but to me it's all real. Reply #1121. It doesn't seem either contrived or unbelievable to me, Mark. There are some things in this world that can't be explained, and I've seen plenty of them. I don't usually make a point of telling people that I've seen ghosts, for example, because it invites ridicule, which I can handle, but sometimes just can't be bothered with. Occasionally I enjoy a debate about it, (so feel free, anyone who's listening!) but I feel no need to persuade anyone to believe in the things I do. That's how wars are started... Reply #1123. I also used to enjoy swimming in the sea, although the waters off our little coast probably aren't anything like your vast shores. I have seen wild dolphins and porpoises while swimming, but at a distance, and each time I forgot how to swim properly and scrambled my way back to the beach like a crazy drowning dog. I have a phobia of sharks (you're so brave!), so when I saw crowning fins, my forebrain was exclaiming delightedly that I was actually seeing real wild cetaceans, but my hindbrain was yelling 'shark!!!!!' much more loudly and insistently lol. Once I even freaked because a fish jumped out of the water two feet away from me, and all I could think was, what's he trying to get away from? He knows something I dont! That ended in another frantic paddle to the faraway beach. I got shivers when I read about the dolphins saving you. Reply #1124. Mar 16 18, 12:10 PM |

We believe theyre really intelligent and quite fascinating to watch, Mark. Unfortunately, we have only what weve heard and read and our imagination cos body's eyes nonfunctional since age 3 or younger due to a rare disease. We enjoy learning what we can of critters, but most if not all of us are terrified... mostly due to lack of vision through those outside eyes. Most of us can see inside; not all. Until recently, we tried to write as "I/me" in every blog but our own. We found... that we kept making mistakes. So we gave up trying. Fitting in is hopeless if its impossible in the first place. Our pronouns are confused enough without us adding to that. Having said that, though, depending on whats going on (and maybe whose typing/replying), we will make an attempt to be just one person. We miss talking to many of you; thanks to Jo for making us feel a bit less lonely. We arent always replying in this thread or others than our own due to technology deciding to suddenly freeze after we make a reply... Currently reading about sustainability so should go read more. There was a guy in TV talking about interviewing old folks, and he said the best thing he'd learnt was that there's no such thing as an ordinary life. All of them would start by saying they were just normal people who'd had dull, ordinary lives, then bust out stories about being Keith Moon's pool cleaner, or the owner of a dog that dug up a backyard dinosaur, or an Olympic gold medalist and record setter. Then I'm here, and there's tales of Buddy Rich's drumsticks, houses floating down rivers, streaking students, and being rescued from sharks by dolphins. Wow. Did any of us know we were so extraordinary? B-) Reply #1126. Mar 16 18, 1:27 PM |

Thanks, Friends, I love talking with you, you're very interesting. You don't have to worry, you fit in here just fine. No-one is judging you, we've all got quirks and problems, some more, some less severe than others. What we like about each other is the interesting stories we tell, the poetry and songs we share, and you are definitely just like us on that score. :-) Reply #1127. Mar 16 18, 1:37 PM |

Jaz, I took a class last year that focused on sustainability. The class was called Environmental Ethics. It was a senior level class, and I needed special permission from my advisor because I am not a senior academically. Senior citizen yes, senior in school no. It was the hardest I've had to work so far, but completely worth it. How long can we stay on this planet if we continue to abuse our natural resources at the present rate? Mark Reply #1129. Thanks, Kev. I hope you know I wasn't trying to browbeat you, or anything, I just wanted to help fix things. How brave is Mark, swimming out so far where the sharks roam?!? God, the very thought makes me feel sick with anxiety! I've seen movies where all kinds of animals eat people, even dogs, but I'm not scared of anything but sharks, so I guess Peter Benchley and Steven Spielberg can't take ALL the blame. It's the eyes... "Dead eyes, lifeless eyes, like a doll's eyes...". (Quint, Jaws) Reply #1130. Mar 16 18, 3:25 PM |

I don't consider myself brave at all. I consider it my natural habitat. Reply #1131. Mar 16 18, 3:30 PM |

I'm not caught up, because I haven't been near this place since I said I was gone, but Kevin and I have decided to let this go and hug and make up. Well, I hugged him. He probably hugged me back. We did that privately, where it should have all played out in the first place. I apologize for my part in this, and for bleeding emotions all over the place. That wasn't my best or brightest moment(s.) I'm sorry this affected so many of our friends. That hurt more than anything. We're all friends, and we had a nasty little brother and sister argument, and it went on too long, but it's over now. I have to play everything I can for my team before this day ends for me, but let's all just let this go and start having fun again. Mark is on Spring Break and I'm sure he needs some fun, with zero drama. We all hate drama, right? That's why we're in here, where it's all fun, all the time. I can't see out of my right eye, at all. It's all just a big blur. If that isn't better tomorrow, I'll cave and get myself in to get my bonked head checked out. I have such a funny story to tell you about Little Timmy Tebow. Oh. My. God. I even captured it on video, or as much as I could, but this guy should be making me millions on YouTube. As much as I love kitty videos, no one is as funny as my 28-pound barrel of fun. But he's about to land on my chest if I don't get out of here, soon, and feed him, even though he could easily live a month on just his body weight alone. He's all muscle, but that is One Big Cat. Who loves his Roomba a little too much. I also need to tell you, or go find Brian and tell him, about my glowing electric blue double helix that woke me up, hovering at the foot of my bed. Note to Self -- 3:33 a.m. and Glowing Double Helix That Began To Move Toward Me, But Didn't Scare Me. I had forgotten about it, but I wrote it all down in an email so I wouldn't forget it, and just found it again. "Heard it in a love song Can't be wrong" Reply #1137. Mar 16 18, 5:21 PM |

Oh, varnish, a man after my own heart! "... the idea was the shark come to the nearest man, that man he starts poundin’ and hollerin’ and sometimes that shark he go away… but sometimes he wouldn’t go away." The way he delivers those lines... Unforgettable. Reply #1139. Mar 16 18, 5:39 PM |

Did somebody say Jaws?!? Yeah Kev, I'm a huge Jaws fan. There's a little Jaws blurb on my profile that I put up there 1-1/2 - 2 years ago, and I have a couple FT questions floating around here. So Umber, are you a Jaws fan as well? That's gotta be one of the best screenplays in movie history, just awesome dialog, I mean, come on, there's gotta be 700 great quotes in there!;) Boo yeah!! you're not gonna believe this but I literally just got off the phone with Mustaine bro, and he's bringing his angel of Deth Flying V, and told me that as long as Hetfield is in another room, he can come!;) Reply #1140.
