My cazzy pal on my Buddy blog! :-) Very nice to see you here, Caz.
Very interesting little list of particular likes you have in the music arena. I was kind of surprised at some of them, considering when you were born, but I know that doesn't always mean one's interest is going to be limited to any given eras. Our friend Cat is another good example of that. I believe she is right around the middle between you and myself in age, and she likes lots of stuff that goes back way before I was even born.
I have an older sister by 6 years who is a big Bee Gees fan. She really liked them and The Carpenters when she was in high school. Those were the years that I was all into Motown and Three Dog Night. Back before unholy terrors like Judas Priest came along and completely ruined my good taste in music. :-(
Even my mom likes some of the stuff on your list, like CCR and the Everly Brothers, and I'm sure she probably likes a lot of the Beatles and the Beach Boys, as do I, of course. I had developed a fascination for music at quite an early age and I'm really not sure why, I mean, nobody in my family has ever been musicians or been involved with music professionally in any way, and while they do like music probably pretty much the same as most people, none of them ever took a liking to it to the same degree that I did. Not even remotely close, actually.
Anyway, by the time I was old enough to be alone in the house without a baby sitter, which I'm not exactly sure when that would have been - 8, 9, 10 years old, I really can't remember - I used to love to listen to the records that belonged to my mom and sister and brother, who is 5 years older than me. Loved to do that pretty much every chance I got, and I remember one of the albums I loved to listen to was from CCR. I can't remember the name of it but it had Green River on it. Just loved that twangy guitar and Fogerty's bluesy voice. Woops, I hope I spelled his name right just now.
Here I am naming this blog after Buddy Holly and you probably know more about the guy's music than I do. I just wanted this thing to be kind of a tribute to all rock and roll from its very beginning, and its title was just the first thing that popped into my mind. Obviously nobody can take credit for single-handedly inventing rock and roll, but from the rather large handful of artists who got the ball rolling, Mr. Holly probably comes closer to leading that wild, out of control pack than anyone else. Thank God for Buddy Holly indeed! :-)
So you were into those boy bands for a while, were ya, caz? Hee hee! You stop that, you ex-teenager, you! :-p I'll tell you a little secret. Just remember that I am a gargantuan rivet head straight from the mean streets of Metalville, so don't tell anyone this as I have that serious metalhead reputation to maintain, but, well, I am a pretty big fan of Justin Timberlake. Go, Justin, go! :-) Actually, it's not because of his music, I am a big fan of his comedy work over the years, namely the stuff he did on Saturday Night Live and a few hilarious videos he made with other SNL guys. I know he is a great singer with some pretty good dance moves, as I have seen him perform quite a number of songs, but he really has a lot of talent in the comedy department as well. A lot of people are talented in both areas, but for one to be exceptionally talented in both areas at the same time is pretty rare, in my opinion.
Well, it looks like time is kind of getting away from me, caz. This has been so much fun talking to you. Do stop by again soon! :-) |
