Like our previous Globetrot Trivia Challenges, we will be stopping off at fifteen different locations and go exploring with quizzes inspired by the destinations selected. This trip should stretch participants to several new destinations. We have a few repeat countries, but completely different spots within them just to mix things up.
A destination will be posted here on this thread. Sometimes that destination will be very specific and sometimes it will be very vague, but either way, we’ll need to have two quizzes queued up before we move on to the next location. When those quizzes are queued, the next one will show. You can, of course, write for any listed destination, even if we move on from it, until the challenge is closed (usually a couple months after we reach the end.
So if we use an example: ‘The Eiffel Tower, Paris'. This means we need to queue two quizzes— anyone can submit them— before we continue on. The quizzes can be about the tower or about World's Fairs or about steel structures or Parisian landmarks or Paris itself or Gustave Eiffel, etc. As long as you can justifiably link the quiz's subject matter/content to the locations, it’s good! I would like to encourage authors to think outside the box. Use these prompts as an opportunity to spread yourself to parts of the site you may never have thought of before. Since players will be looking at these quizzes from a different angle in the future, it will be very helpful to avoid repetition!
Once we make our trip around the world, we’ll return to our starting location in some way. Last time, we started in Mexico and ended the route in Mexico again.
All you need to do is post when your quiz is submitted, and when there’s two we’ll move along. The quiz doesn't even need to be online yet! Think of it as a teaser for the players. ;)
Oh yeah-- and all quizzes submitted for the Globetrot challenges will play a strong part in a future game for the site. Just to put that out there. So the more, the better!

It's time to take a quick train ride through the Alps and onward to eastern Austria. We're checking in for a stop-over in the capital city of Vienna. This city, filled with palaces and royal structures, was the former home of Sigmund Freud, Johann Strauss II, and Wolfgang Mozart. I'm planning to look at Swiss cheeses once I swim past the lakes of Lombardy. But it's slow work, since I am working crazy hours right now with timetable construction and helping students change their subjects in the last few days of the school year. Wouldn't be a problem, Joe - there are plenty of cheeses to go around! Not to mention lots of different ways to structure a quiz and its questions, even with overlapping ingredients. So, think outside the box you said, but the question is, how far out of the box do you want us? I've submitted "Vienna. The Life and Music of Midge Ure" to music, but will that qualify for our destination or is that a whole different stationery store? I wrote a Donkey Kong quiz for Hong Kong a couple tours ago. As long as you're writing with the location specified in mind instead of another location, you're pretty safe. Seeing Vancouver and then saying, "oh, they have earthquakes there, but Los Angeles is a bigger earthquake city" and then writing a quiz about L.A. isn't going to work. Writing a quiz about cities with earthquakes will. If we opened a page-- and I'm not saying I have expansive plans for these GT tours or anything wink wink nudge nudge-- about Vienna, then your Vienna-made quiz should make sense there. A quiz about Cardi B when it's supposed to be about Vienna, even if you say "Cardi B always reminds me of Vienna because she's opulent", isn't going to have a link that makes sense to people. Well, then that means it's time to shift gears a little bit and take a cruise on up to Amsterdam, the capital city of the Netherlands, specifically to do some maritime research at the Nederlands Scheepvaartmuseum. Found along the central canals of this city, the National Maritime Museum is one of the nation's most visited and could easily lead you to write quizzes on seafaring, Amsterdam/Dutch landmarks, naval history, or places with names that don't sound like what they are.
