I have seen a trend that Zorba usually posts here after the quiz is online. Anyway, let's wait for her. (I hope I got the gender right) Reply #81. Feb 15 19, 12:49 PM |

Re: "Anyway, let's wait for her." ...unless she doesn't intend to post the quiz. Unless there's a note left or someone notes their intent, I avoid making assumptions on quizzes that go online. Reply #82. Feb 15 19, 1:07 PM |

That quiz was written for the Sprint. It doesn’t fit for either of the GT clues for the India legs. Reply #83. Feb 15 19, 2:58 PM |

Thought so. Still a great quiz either way. :) (Wes will still be using the Sprint quizzes for other things, so double-dipping isn't really imperative anyways.) Reply #84. Feb 15 19, 2:59 PM |

The reason I wrote another India quiz for Task 9 in Sprint. Quiz was 'Heroic'. Kerala plus plus! Reply #85. Feb 24 19, 8:55 AM |

I might not be seeing it, but is there a connection between the quiz questions/info and the Kerala region specifically? Reply #86. Feb 24 19, 1:24 PM |

Yeah, so both the Empires quiz and the Heroic quiz have a pan-India basis. There's this one question in the Heroic quiz about the Chalukyas vs the Pallavas battle, and both of these kingdoms were fighting over the Kerala region as well as the Tamil Nadu region. I took care to include at least one question with a direct connection! And, to be honest, both my two quizzes listed and zorbas quiz are pan-India. Focussed, rather than Kerala-focussed. My third quiz shouldn't be a problem. And bigger link: For a person who claimed a 45 min bonus and a 75 min bonus in 2 tasks, I chose to write a quiz with 0 bonus in Task 9 simply because I wanted to write something I can use for Globetrotter! India has kind of a north south division, and I used one question to link the quiz with the Globetrotter theme, like I did in Glibetrotter 1 Alaska. Arguably, the exact battle did not take place in modern-day Kerala, but the Pallavas certainly controlled Kerala! I could have chosen to link 'Heroic' with Mumbai, given the abundance of Maratha empire questions in the quiz. But very weirdly, Mumbai has this cosmopolitan culture which is totally alien to the rest of Maratha region. Kerala has more of the traditional ancient culture rooted in it, I feel (when I visited), hence the Religion quizzes went to Kerala, not a 'Film City'. Reply #88. Feb 25 19, 12:46 AM |

I only asked because I didn't see any mention of Kerala or the cities therein (or really, the region at first glance), so I wanted to avoid posting something that didn't have any link to the topic besides "It's India". Earlier quizzes were definitely pan-India, but take Zorba's Kerala quiz-- there's a question in there very specifically about sites in the Kerala region. In an ideal situation, all Globetrot quizzes should be linked to the destinations, and I do encourage anyone writing along to think outside the box-- I've definitely taken liberties in some locations, myself-- but when all is said and done, pretend that you're going to a webpage specifically about that destination, Kerala, for instance. The quizzes associated with that destination should reasonably evoke, to the player, some local flavor or, at the very least, a link to the goings-on there specifically. This is why a quiz about Sydney, AUS could be about (or have questions about) the city, the sights, major AUS cities in general, the bridge, or even people named Sydney. The end goal should be quizzes representative of their specific destinations, for better or worse, and the more specific they are and more tenuously-linked they are to said locations, the better-received they're going to be for the plan being set in place for these quizzes. If they don't have that link, it'll show. Which is why I asked. Re: Sprint/Globetrot crossover It's your own prerogative-- just as it was mine for a couple of tasks-- but there's no obligation to double dip, and while it may have been applicable to the task at hand, I always advise authors to avoid stacking challenges where possible, otherwise (and I've seen it before) the requirements can make for a fairly convoluted quiz. Our ninth destination will be taking us north to the capital city of South Korea: Seoul. High-tech and super-modern, this metropolitan area is one of the largest in the entire world and home to nearly ten million people. Its history stretches back more than six thousand years, and there's no shortage of topics you could dig into to get to the heart of...Seoul. This could be your opportunity to talk about the Olympic Games or how to cook (or absolutely not cook) San-nakji or delve into the world of eSports. Or maybe your interests lie in modern technology and internet advancement? Reply #100. Apr 18 19, 9:42 AM |
