Subject: The Dusty Trail

Posted by: sadwings
Date: Jul 18 19

Any of you cowboys and cowgirls ever seen a dusty, unshaven bronco-buster nail the inside of a spittoon from 20 feet? Probably not all that impressive with all the tobacco-chewin' range bums we've got around these parts, but check this out - pppt….pppt….pppt….Ting! Tang! Ting! Three for three! :-)

Anyway, that's just a small part of the rip-roaring, wild west adventure just waiting for those of you who would like to saddle up and ride with us out on the Dusty Trail. We've got plenty of horses and trail gear for all comers, and we've even got a friendly, loyal, dependable dog named Happy who will take good care of us as we sleep beneath the stars and experience exciting wild west adventures every day. So whenever you'd like to take a little break from quizzing, just saddle up and ride along with us for a spell, partners! We'd love to have you along one and all! :-)

Well, I love the way you described yourself there… “demented in a quite harmless way”
That sounds like someone I want to be friends with, since that sounds a little bit like me!

Heheh, I like how the main character in that Rifleman used his brains to get out of his predicament, making the bad guys try to turn on one another.

Yeah, I'm proud to say that of all the crazy stuff I ever did in my life for a laugh, none of it ever resulted in anything being destroyed or damaged or anyone being hurt or shamed or anything of the kind. It has always made me feel great to make others laugh, and I have always known when to step aside and let others do their clowning without trying to upstage them, but when things result in someone being hurt in some way, or something gets damaged that someone else out there somewhere is going to have to pay for, that's when things are not so funny any more, at least not to me. Laughs and good times are things that should go around to everyone equally.

Yeah, that Rifleman guy really knew how to use his head, in addition to being all big and tough and fast on the draw. What a stud! :-p

You guys remember what a fine performance Kurt Russell delivered as Wyatt Earp in Tombstone, right. Anyone remember when he was a little kid on Gilligan's Island? Check this out.....

Hi! Doc Holliday here. You may remember me from such classics as Gunfight at the OK Corral, Wyatt Earp, and Tombstone. Well, here's something for you:

I'm sure you cowpokes are familiar with Lee Van Cleef, right? Always the big tough gunslinger who would stand against any man. Not exactly the kind of gunman that one would want to mess around with. Well, I was just over in North Fork for a spell, payin' ol' Luke McCain a visit when Lee came into ridin' into town with one of his gunslingin' outlaw buddies. Would you believe that both o' them fellers standin' together backed down from Buddy Hackett? Yeah, I'm talkin' about Buddy Hackett the comedian. Reckon y'all probably think I'm just funnin' about, don't ya? Well, it's a good thing I had my handy video camera with me. Got videotaped proof of the whole incident right here. All ya gotta do is just fast forward this thing right up to exactly 21 minutes and play it from there. Y'all will see for yourselves that I ain't funnin'....

In case any of y'all might get the crazy notion to laugh at Clint Eastwood's mule, well, I'd advise you to just calmly walk away from it. Just got me some film footage of some ol' boys in town who just made that mistake. Y'all take a look see....

Nice ending: "My mistake, four coffins." Clint knew how to get things done without a whole lot of words.

Yeah, he was never much on doin' a whole lot of useless gabbin'. Usually let his pistols or his fists do most of his talkin'.

Sure wish I was more educated on the way it really was back in the wild west days as far as shootouts are concerned, especially the one-on-one shootouts. There were probably not nearly as many of them as Hollywood tries to make us believe, for one thing, but out of all the shootouts that really did happen, seems to me that there would be a lot of cases where both shooters wound up getting shot. I mean, just because a guy gets hit with a bullet doesn't mean he can't still raise his gun and fire it before he goes down. It's also kind of funny how in the movies and TV shows, the guy who goes for his gun first is almost always the one who gets shot, and naturally gets killed every time. Let's get real here!

Any of you cowpokes remember the time the Skipper from Gilligan's Island went to tanglin' with Matt Dillon? Got the live film footage of the whole thing right here....

Any of y'all ready for a few laughs? Just discovered more classic Matt Dillon stuff. No violence at all, mind you, just Matt doin' a bunch of high class articulatin'.

Reckon it ain't nothin' but a ghost town around here any more. Pppt….TING! Well, still got my horse and my guns and this here magic picture box to keep me company. Sure is a funny thing, this magic picture box. Just aim and pull the trigger like it was a gun and somehow the dadgum thing takes movin' pictures of whatever yer aimin' at. Sure got lots of 'em built up in there about now. Reckon I'll take me another look see at that ol' boy a-learnin' his young un how to swim over there at Meanderin' Creek. Feller kinda reminds me of an ol' boy we used to call Duke.....

Howdy, ma'am! Yeah, I reckon I'm about ready to bed down for a while myself, then get up and do a few camp chores around here and git the horses fed. Done got me a rootin' tootin' list of most of the clips here, complete with the post #, a short description and the runnin' time on all of 'em. All I gotta do now is type it out and pm it to ya.

Well, doggone it! It just dawned on me that I somehow missed the big showdown between Bugs Bunny and Yosemite Sam. I know it's on here somewhere. I'm gonna see iffen I can hunt that thing down on the net and post it again. Probably be faster that way than huntin' it down in here. Of all the ones to miss! You gotta see that one. Ol' Bugs is a pretty rootin' tootin' pistol shootin' hombre, lemme tell ya, pilgrim! I'll get that clip list over to ya sometime today!

Here's ol' Bugs and Sam in action. Bugs is such a big tough gunslinger, he makes John Wayne, Clint Eastwood and Henry Fonda look like the Three Stooges! :-p

Let's keep Sadwing's Dusty Trail open for business. The world is in a sucky situation with no end in sight. In my world toilet paper is in full stock....food is now in short supply. Go figure.

I just watched two episodes of Gun Smoke. I did not realize that the early years of the show were only half hour shows.

Sometimes when the old 30 minute episodes are shown they title them "Marshall Dillion" to distinguish them from the hour long episodes.
