The movie was chock-full of scenes where one's emotions were triggered. Lt Dan struggled for years to overcome his disability, even blaming Forrest for his misery. Tom's reaction doesn't surprise me when Forrest shows delight that Lt Dan has "new legs" - definitely happiness tears.

Tom jumped the gun a bit - when Forrest and Susan were introduced at the wedding, Susan was still Lt Dan's fiancee.

As he was dashing through the crowd to reach Jenny, on the right-hand side was a man in a dark coat, cap, and glasses. A few seconds later as Forrest breaks through the crowd, the same man appears in a split-second camera shot.

At first, the three bullies just taunt Forrest and he slowly walks away, encumbered by his leg braces. But after the bullies get on their bicycles, Forrest must move away more quickly to escape them. Somehow, he doesn't think of running until Jenny tells him to (or doesn't think he can, but Jenny is always his inspiration). When she does, he can then run so swiftly that the braces on his legs 'magically' fall off and he runs ten times faster than any bicycle!

"Run, Forrest, run" is probably one of the most quoted lines from the film. Jenny also gives Forrest similar advice later in the film, when she learns Forrest is going to Viet Nam. He heeds that advice and would not have been shot but for the fact that he cannot leave his buddy, Bubba, and goes back to find him.

The necklace was a rosary with a Saint Christopher medal (patron of travelers) that was inscribed "Protect Us In Combat". Gary Sinise, the actor who played Lt Dan, wore his brother-in-law's personal rosary that Jack had with him while serving in Vietnam during 1967-68. Gary's brother-in-law is Jack Treese.

Lt Dan's dog tags can be seen attached to the rosary.

Gump began his run thru his little town, deciding to run through the entire Greenbow County & then continuing through the State of Alabama into Mississippi where we see the sign "Mississippi Welcomes You"; Forrest could be seen running down the boardwalk of the Santa Monica Beach entering the walkway into the Yacht Club; he then ran down San Francisco St in Flagstaff, AZ and then on through the now abandoned truck stop.
Three more points of interest that were captured as part of his journey: (1) Marshall Point Lighthouse; (2) North Carolina Grandfather Mountain; (3) Utah's Monument Valley.

Although we're not sure that Forrest ever totally understood what had happened to Jenny, he must have had some inkling, because after she dies, he sees to it that Jenny's old house is demolished.
