Answer: Rambo: First Blood

In the events leading up to this scene, ex-Green Beret John Rambo (Sylvester Stallone) walks into a small Washington town to look up a buddy from the Vietnam War, only to learn that he is the last surviving member of his unit. Local sheriff Will Teasle (Brian Dennehy) doesn't like his drifter look and gives him a ride out of town.

However, Rambo gets his back up over being forced to do something and he walks back to town in search of something to eat. Sheriff Teasle then arrests him for vagrancy and brings him to the local jail, where his deputies try to force-shave him. Sight of the razor causes Rambo to flash back to memories of Communist torture in a prison camp in Vietnam.

He goes berserk, breaks free, commandeers a motorcycle and flees into the nearby mountain.

As the police force try to capture him, Rambo uses his well-honed survival and combat skills to cripple them and warn Teasle to leave him alone. Rambo's former commanding officer Colonel Samuel Trautman (Richard Crenna) arrives, trying to negotiate a truce by radio.

In this scene Trautman says line one and Rambo replies with line two. This movie had several sequels, which put Sylvester Stallone in the unusual position of having two mega-hit series at the same time (his "Rocky" movie sequels were occurring during this same time period).
2. "My father is no different than any powerful man, any man with power, like a president or senator." "Do you know how naive you sound, Michael? Presidents and senators don't have men killed." Choose the movie these quotes are in, from these multiple choices.

Answer: The Godfather

In this scene Michael Corleone (Al Pacino) is talking to his girlfriend, Kay Adams (Diane Keaton) near Kay's New Hampshire school after Michael's return from Sicily. He is trying to persuade her to marry him. When Michael tells Kay, "I'm working for my father now, Kay. He's been sick -- very sick," she says, "But you're not like him, Michael. I thought you weren't going to become a man like your father. That's what you told me." Then Michael says line one and Kay responds with line two. Michael then says, "Oh. who's being naive, Kay?"

In the 1973 Academy Awards "The Godfather" won three Oscars, including Best Picture, and Marlon Brando for Best Actor in a Leading Role. Al Pacino, James Caan, and Robert Duvall were all nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role, but didn't win. Some of the other actors who were considered for or who wanted the role of Michael (Al Pacino's role) included Warren Beatty, Jack Nicholson, Dustin Hoffman, Robert De Niro, Martin Sheen, Rod Steiger, Alain Delon, Burt Reynolds, and Robert Redford.
3. "You're a wizard, ______." "I'm a what?" Choose the movie these quotes are in, from these multiple choices.

Answer: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (a.k.a. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone)

After his parents are killed by the evil wizard Voldemort (Richard Bremmer), baby Harry Potter is raised by his Aunt Petunia (Fiona Shaw) and Uncle Vernon (Richard Griffiths), who treat him poorly. When he turns 11 he is invited to attend the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, with the invitation delivered personally by gentle giant Rubeus Hagrid (Robbie Coltrane).

In this scene Hagrid says the first line when the invitation is delivered and a surprised Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) exclaims the second.

In the 2002 Academy Awards "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" was nominated in three categories but didn't win any Oscars. Many of the impressive special effects in this movie were created by George Lucas' company Industrial Light and Magic. Richard Harris at first turned down the part of Albus Dumbledore, but after his eleven-year-old granddaughter heard her grandfather had turned down the part she threatened never to speak to him again if he didn't reconsider.

He wound up taking it.
4. "I told you not to pick up the phone." "Then stop calling me." Choose the movie these quotes are in, from these multiple choices.

Answer: Pretty Woman

In the events leading up to this scene, rich businessman Edward Lewis (Richard Gere) needs an escort in Hollywood, California for some social functions and he hires prostitute Vivian Ward (Julia Roberts). He takes a liking to her and negotiates for her full time day and night.

The interaction of Vivian's street-savy mannerisms with Edward's rarified level of society leads to some pretty funny situations. In one scene, Edward takes her to an opera and an old woman asks her how she liked it. She says, "It was so good, I almost peed my pants!" The old woman is surprised at this response and Edward quickly adds, "She said she liked it better than Pirates of Penzance." In this scene, Edward lets her stay in their suite at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel during the day while he's gone but instructs her not to answer the phone. To test her he calls their room and she answers.

He repeats the instruction and calls again as a test. She answers again and he says line one. She replies with line two.

In the 1991 Academy Awards, Julia Roberts was nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role but lost the Oscar to Kathy Bates in "Misery." In the scene where Edward is shown playing the piano in the empty hotel lounge, Richard Gere is playing the piano himself.
5. "Muriel said the ________ have landed, whatever that means, Chief. And she said they were attacking her personally." "Remember last time, when she called about that peeping Tom -- you know who that was, don't you? It was that Luther Grilk's horse." (Hint: The cast of this hilarious comedy includes Carl Reiner, Alan Arkin, Jonathan Winters and Paul Ford.) Choose the movie these quotes are in, from these multiple choices.

Answer: The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming

In the events leading up to this scene, Walt Whittaker (Carl Reiner) and his family are vacationing in a rented house on Gloucester Island off the coast of New England, during the Cold War. A Russian submarine captain, trying to get a glimpse of America through the sub's periscope, gets too close to land and runs aground.

A small party of Russian sailors, headed by Lieutenant Rozanov (Alan Arkin), then head to land to try and commandeer some motorboats, to pull them free. However, the sailors with their broken English and heavy pea coats don't exactly blend in! In this scene the town telephone operator (Tessie O'Shea) calls Police Chief Link Mattocks (Brian Keith) at home to report line one.

He responds skeptically with line two. In the 1967 Academy Awards, "The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming" was nominated in four categories, including Best Picture (but lost to "A Man for All Seasons"). "The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming" is one of my favorites.
6. "Your son has a very great talent. I don't think you are aware how great it is. That he is attempting to use that very talent against your will." "He is a very willful boy." (Hint: Jack Nicholson is in this movie.) Choose the movie these quotes are in, from these multiple choices.

Answer: The Shining

In the events leading up to this scene, Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson) has accepted the job of being the winter caretaker for an isolated Colorado resort hotel, despite hearing a grisly story about a previous caretaker going stir crazy and killing his family. Jack, his wife Wendy (Shelley Duvall) and son Danny (Danny Lloyd) arrive at the Overlook hotel just as the staff is getting ready to leave.

They are shown the kitchen by the resort's chef Dick Hallorann (Scatman Crothers), who realizes Danny has the special power of mental telepathy his grandmother used to call "shining." In this scene a delusional Jack is having a conversation with Delbert Grady (Philip Stone), a butler he thinks is the caretaker who killed his family. Grady says line one and Jack replies with line two. Grady then adds, "Indeed he is, Mr. Torrance.

A very willful boy. A rather naughty boy, if I may be so bold, sir." When Jack replies, "It's his mother. She, uh, interferes" Grady says, "Perhaps they need a good talking to, if you don't mind my saying so. Perhaps a bit more. My girls, sir, they didn't care for the Overlook at first. One of them actually stole a pack of matches, and tried to burn it down.

But I "corrected" them sir. And when my wife tried to prevent me from doing my duty, I "corrected" her." The ominous-sounding music in the opening scene is just wonderful. "The Shining" is one my favorites.
7. "Why do you want this so badly?" "Because they said I couldn't have it." Choose the movie these quotes are in, from these multiple choices.

Answer: Men of Honor

This movie tells the true story of Carl Brashear (Cuba Gooding Jr.), who endured racial prejudice and unfairness to become the U.S. Navy's first African-American diver and later the first amputee Master Diver. Although U.S. President Harry S. Truman officially ordered an end to racial segregation in all branches of the U.S. armed forces in 1948, his order permitted local commanders to implement desegregation at such time they deemed appropriate. Unfortunately for Carl, commander Mr. Pappy at the Bayonne, N.J. divers' training school (Hal Holbrook) is an avid racist.

The famous quote from this movie is by Robert De Niro's character (he plays diving instructor Chief Leslie "Billy" Sunday). When he is addressing a new class of recruits he points out there was an old-time preacher named Billy Sunday and then says, "The only difference between me and that old preacher is that he worked for God, and I AM God!" In this scene, medical student Jo (Aunjanue Ellis) is asked by Carl to tutor him so he can pass the written tests in his training and she asks the question in line one.

He replies with line two. The real Carl Brashear was on the movie set to give advice during filming.
8. "We're the first team." "Yeah, and we're not gonna fall for a banana in the tailpipe." Choose the movie these quotes are in, from these multiple choices.

Answer: Beverly Hills Cop

In the events leading up to this scene, a friend visiting from California is killed right before the eyes of Detroit cop Detective Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy). Foley follows the killer to Beverly Hills, California, where Lieutenant Andrew Bogomil (Ronny Cox) in the Beverly Hills police department assigns Detective Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and Rosewood's partner, Sergeant John Taggart (John Ashton), to keep an eye on him.

In order to slip away from them to do some investigating of the murder of his friend, he manages to slip a banana into the tailpipe of their car while they are parked.

When he takes off by car and they try to follow, the banana makes their car stall. In this scene, Rosewood and Taggart have been replaced by the "A" team. Detective McCabe (Joel Bailey) says the first line to Foley and his partner Detective Foster (Art Kimbro) adds line two.

In the 1985 Academy Awards, "Beverly Hills Cop" was nominated for an Oscar in the category of Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen but lost to "Places in the Heart." Many of the comic lines in this movie were improvised and hundreds of takes were ruined by actors or the director himself who laughed during filming.
9. "Tell me I'm a good man." "You ARE." (Hint: Tom Hanks is in this movie.) Choose the movie these quotes are in, from these multiple choices.

Answer: Saving Private Ryan

In the events leading up to this scene, Captain John Miller (Tom Hanks) and a squad of soldiers in World War II are sent to try and locate Private James Ryan (Matt Damon) after a clerk notices his three brothers have recently been killed. However, Ryan does not want to abandon his fellow soldiers when he is told by Captain Miller that he is going home.

As he says when informed of the deaths of his brothers, "You can tell her [his mother] that when you found me, I was with the only brothers I had left. And that there was no way I was deserting them. I think she'd understand that." In this scene, an old James Ryan is looking at Captain Miller's gravestone in the American Cemetery in Normandy and remembering his dying words, "James, earn this... earn it." He turns to his wife and says line one.

She replies back with line two. In the 1999 Academy Awards "Saving Private Ryan" won five Oscars and was nominated for six more, including Best Picture (but lost to "Shakespeare in Love"). This movie was based on the true story of the Niland brothers.
10. "You're going into the men's room." "Huh? Oh, so I am. I do need new glasses." (Hint: Robin Williams is in this movie.) Choose the movie these quotes are in, from these multiple choices.

Answer: Mrs. Doubtfire

When Daniel Hillard (Robin Williams) loses his job, his irresponsibility makes life impossible for his wife Miranda (Sally Field) and she reluctantly decides to divorce him. A judge decrees that in order to help Daniel to get his life in order, he can see his children just one day a week.

He can't bear this, and when Miranda advertises for a housekeeper to help her, Daniel decides to don a disguise and apply for the job as a British nanny named Mrs. Doubtfire. In this scene, Mrs. Doubtfire joins the family at a restaurant and has to use the restroom. Miranda observes Mrs. Doubtfire going into the men's room and says line one. Daniel as Mrs. Doubtfire laughs it off with line two.

In the 1994 Academy Awards "Mrs. Doubtfire" won the Oscar for Best Makeup.

It took Robin Williams about 4 1/2 hours each day to be made up as Mrs. Doubtfire.
