Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. From "Star Trek: The Next Generation" who said: "Captain, we're receiving two hundred and eighty-five thousand hails"?

Answer: Wesley Crusher

In the episode "Parallels", Worf was returning from a bat'leth tournament and found himself switching among parallel universes. In one, Wesley Crusher was back onboard the Enterprise and voiced this quote as the universes began to converge.
2. In which "Star Trek" movie did we hear the following quote: "Ad-mee-ral, we have found the nuclear wessel"?

Answer: The Voyage Home

"And Ad-mee-ral it is the Enterprise" said Chekov in "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home". As the dilithium crystals in the stolen Bird-of-Prey were drained, making the crew unable to leave San Francisco, Chekov and Uhura were sent to the U.S. Naval yard in Alameda with a device to collect some photons to recrystallize the Klingon dilithium.

They found their way to the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier Enterprise.
3. Which "Next Generation" character said in one of the movies: "You're 'blended', all right"?

Answer: Riker

In a humorous scene from the movie "Star Trek: First Contact", Riker came upon Deanna Troi, drunk from having consumed a considerable amount of tequila with Zephram Cochrane. When she slurred that she only did it to blend in, Riker laughingly gave her his opinion of her success.
4. Which "Star Trek: Enterprise" character said: "So if anyone has a suggestion, I'm all ears. No offense."?

Answer: Archer

Captain Archer said that after some of the Enterprise crew and the Vulcans in the P'Jem monastery were taken prisoner by Andorians in "The Andorian Incident". Archer couldn't immediately think of a way for them to escape.
5. In which "Star Trek" movie featuring the original cast do we hear: "Fly her apart, then!"?

Answer: The Undiscovered Country

Captain Sulu said the quote in "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country". As his ship, the Excelsior, was heading for Khitomer at highest-possible speed, helmsman Lojur told him if they continued at that speed the ship would fly apart. Sulu was thinking only of helping his former crewmates.
6. On "Deep Space Nine" a character said: "Earth. Oh, don't get me wrong, a thousand years ago it had character: the Crusades, the Spanish Inquisition, Watergate. Now it's just mind-numbingly dull." Who would say that?

Answer: Q

Who else but Q? In the episode "Q-Less", Q and Vash arrive at Deep Space 9 after being in the Gamma quadrant. At one point Vash mentions that she may return to Earth, which she hadn't seen in a dozen years.
7. Which character from the original series said in a "Star Trek" movie: "What does God need with a starship?"

Answer: Kirk

The Captain himself, James T. Kirk, said that after encountering a being posing as God in the movie "Star Trek V: The Final Frontier". Spock's half-brother, Sybok, took the Enterprise and its crew to a planet where he expected to find the Vulcan equivalent of Heaven and God.

The "God" turned out to be a being imprisoned there who wanted to trick them into helping him escape. Kirk quickly caught on to the ruse.
8. "I am my own beginning, my own ending." Which character said that in "Star Trek: The Original Series"?

Answer: Guardian of Forever

Waiting for eons to answer a question was the Guardian of Forever in the episode "The City on the Edge of Forever". The device, which looked like a poor rock carving, knew each race's history and could send anyone anywhere in time. It sent Doctor McCoy to Earth's 1930s, causing a change in the flow of history.

More trivia: the Guardian was voiced by Bart LaRue, not James Doohan, who voiced many of the alien voices during the series.
9. Which "Star Trek" movie character said: "Your father was captain of a starship for twelve minutes - he saved eight hundred lives. Including yours."?

Answer: Capt. Christopher Pike

In "Star Trek" (often called "Star Trek (2009)"), a young Jim Kirk gets beaten up in a bar by some Starfleet recruits. Captain Christopher Pike, who stopped the fight, knew about Kirk's father taking over command of the USS Kelvin after it was attacked by Romulans, saving the lives of most of its crew. Pike was trying to convince Kirk to do something good with his life.
10. In a "Star Trek: Voyager" episode a character said: "Nobody will see us back here. It's dark, it's private." But which character said it?

Answer: Janeway

Torres and Tuvok were captured by the Mokra in the episode "Resistance" and taken to a prison. Janeway posed as a prostitute so she and some Alsaurian resistance members could gain access to the prison. In the scene, she lured one of the guards away from his post.
