Sarek's human wife, Amanda, was Spock's mother. One of his best lines is spoken to the adult Spock when he says, "You once asked me why I married your mother...I married her because I loved her". In this simple statement, he reveals the fascinating duality of the Vulcan nature and the strength of the deep emotions they normally hide under their cold emotionless exteriors.

The USS Enterprise NCC-1701 is probably the most important ship to bear the name. It was a Constitution-class starship launched on April 11, 2245, from the San Francisco Fleet Yards. It was the primary setting for the original "Star Trek" series. Robert April oversaw the building of the ship and became the first captain. His wife, Sarah April, incidentally, became the ship's first chief medical officer. The first officer aboard the ship was Christopher Pike who would later become the ship's captain when April would step down in 2250.
