In this episode, the Enterprise responds to the distress call of a Federation transport ship that disappeared seventy-five years ago, which impacted on the surface of a Dyson Sphere due to its' gravity field. Beaming aboard the USS Jenolan Riker, LaForge and Worf discover that the transporter has been rigged to run continuously with two life signals inside the pattern buffer. One is too degraded to restore, but the other turns out to be Scotty, who had been on his way to a retirement colony when the incident occurred.

Benjamin met Jennifer shortly after graduating from Starfleet Academy and they had one son, Jake. Jennifer is killed during the Battle Of Wolf 359 (as depicted in the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" two-parter, "The Best of Both Worlds"). Capt. Sisko blames Capt. Picard for Jennifer's death, for it was Capt. Picard, temporarily assimilated into the Borg collective as Locutus, who led the strike which led to her death as well as the deaths of thousands of others. Later on, Benjamin discovers a version of Jennifer still alive in The Mirror Universe.

In the very first episode of the series, the fact is made known that Ensign Kim plays the instrument when his mother contacted Voyager as he was ready to leave to notify him he'd left his clarinet at home. Actor Garrett Wang, who portrayed Ensign Kim on all seven seasons of the show, didn't play clarinet, but learned enough about it to appear as if he was playing.

As the ship blasts off, the cabin is filled with the music of Steppenwolf.

On the episode "Little Green Men", Quark, his brother Rom and nephew Nog are onboard a shuttle to take Nog to Earth so he can begin Starfleet Academy. Through sabotage on the part of Quark's cousin, the shuttle is transported back in time when they attempt to come out of warp. Unbeknownst to them, the shapeshifter Odo was aboard the whole time.

It is he who manages to fix the shuttle and help get them back to their own time.

Earth is attacked by a prototype weapon designed by the Xindi. The Xindi, who get erroneous information that Earth will attack them in the future, launch a preemptive attack killing seven million in Florida as well as an undisclosed amount of inhabitants in Venezuela. Among those killed in Florida is Enterprise crew member Trip Tucker's younger sister, Elizabeth.

First shown in the original series episode "Amok Time", the hand gesture is derived from the "Priestly Blessing" in the Jewish culture, the difference being it is done with both hands raised. The lesser known reply to "live long and prosper" is "peace and long life".

In the movie "Star Trek: First Contact", when the Vulcan ship arrives on Earth to meet Zefraim Cochrane, the unnamed Vulcan who exits the craft displays the hand gesture stating "live long and prosper". Cochrane, unable to get his fingers apart to emulate the Vulcan, shakes the hand of the somewhat surprised visitor.

The "Star Trek" animated series, which ran in 1973 and 1974, spanned twenty-two episodes over two seasons. Originally, only William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, James Doohan and Majel Barrett were asked to reprise their respective roles. George Takei and Nichols were added later, but Walter Koenig did not return as Pavel Chekov due to budget limitations. Roger Carmel, who famously played "Harry Mudd" in a couple of the original series episodes, returned to voice the character for the animated series.

In this episode, Capt. Sisko's son, Jake, finds out that Quark is having an auction and not at all interested until he finds that one of the items is a Willie Mays 1951 rookie card. Jake loses out to an eccentric scientist, but is still determined to get the card back as a gift for his dad.

The eccentric scientist, Dr. Giger, says that he will trade the card for a list of items he needs for a project. Jake and his friend Nog get into a bit of trouble along the way, but in the end Jake is able to get the card for his dad.

Daniels is from the 31st century and part of the "Temporal Cold War" storyline that ran throughout the series. In it, the Suliban take orders from a shadowy figure from the future. As this never revealed character is from an earlier century than Daniels, the technology from his era cannot make the mysterious traveler fully materialize.

In this movie, Nimoy's version of Spock is caught in a black hole and sent back through time where he meets the alternate reality versions of himself and Capt. Kirk. Leonard Nimoy had no intention of reprising his famous role, but a lot of convincing on the part of the producers led him to change his mind.

After Dr. McCoy accidentally injects himself with a drug which causes him to become delusional, he beams down to a nearby planet. Kirk and Spock follow him down to the planet's surface, but he evades them, jumping through a stone portal which is a doorway to any time and place.

At that point, the Enterprise ceases to exist, as something McCoy did altered history. Kirk and Spock go through themselves, hoping to find him and restore the timeline. Edith Keeler, who was supposed to die in a traffic accident, starts a pacifist movement which delays the American entry into WWII, allowing Germany to win. Kirk falls for Edith, but knows he cannot save her.

He lets her die and the timeline is restored.
