The Billboard Hot 100 for the year 2010 included "TiK ToK" by Kesha, "Bad Romance" by Lady Gaga, "California Gurls" by Katy Perry featuring Snoop Dogg, "OMG" by Usher featuring will.i.am, "Airplanes" by B.O.B. featuring Hayley Williams, and "Love the Way You Lie" by Eminem featuring Rihanna in the top six positions. Kesha used to stylize her name as Ke$ha and saw her first success as the guest vocalist on "Right Round" by Flo Rida. But her breakthrough solo hit, "TiK ToK" dominated the charts and set a record at the time for most downloads in a week with over 600,000.
"California Gurls" continued Katy Perry's major run of success in this era with the collaboration with California rapper Snoop Dogg. The single was released on her "Teenage Dream" album which also saw the title track in the Billboard Hot 100 that year. "Love The Way You Lie" brought together the Detroit rapper, Eminem, with R&B superstar Rihanna. The song appeared on Eminem's "Recovery" album. Later that year, Rihanna released "Love The Way You Live Part 2" on her solo album with Eminem guesting. "Bad Romance" was released on Lady Gaga's "The Fame Monster" album in 2009 but became the huge chart success in 2010. The dance track not only topped U.S. singles charts, it was a smash in over twenty countries.
In terms of movie sales, "Toy Story 3", "Alice In Wonderland", "Iron Man 2", and "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" were the top four of 2010 as based by Box Office Mojo. "Toy Story 3" continued the story of Andy, Buzz Lightyear, and Woody with Tim Allen and Tom Hanks providing vocals for Buzz and Woody respectively. "Iron Man 2" was released two years after "Iron Man". The Marvel super hero starred Robert Downey Jr. as the lead character, a millionaire who invents a mechanical suit that gives him super human abilities. "Twilight: Eclipse" was in the third film in the vampire themed love stories based on the books of Stephanie Meyer. The film starred Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart as Edward and Bella.
"Inception" ranked number six for the year grossing almost $300 million dollars in the United States. The lengthy sci-fi action story starred Leonardo DiCaprio and was directed by acclaimed director Christopher Nolan. The film was nominated for eight Oscars and won four.
At the year end, "Call of Duty: Black Ops", "Halo: Reach", "Madden NFL 11", "New Super Mario Bros. Wii", "Red Dead Redemption" and the "Wii Fit Plus" all ranked in the top ten of the U.S. sales charts as determined by NPD Game. "Call of Duty: Black Ops" was a first-person shooter game that put the video game player in the role of CIA operative named Alex Mason during the 1960s. The "Call of Duty" franchise continued with multiple sequels in the years to come. The Nintendo Wii introduced the "Wii Fit Plus" in late 2009 that added in features to the video game's exercising meets gaming system. The addition of the balance board required players to work on their core muscles while participating in challenging sports and yoga activities.
"Bleeding Love" and "Umbrella" were songs released in 2007. "Call Me Maybe" by Carly Rae Jepson was released in 2012. The animated film "Wall-E" was 2008 and the James Bond film "Skyfall" came out in 2012. The video games "Halo 4" and "Assassin's Creed 3" were each released two or more years after 2010.
