Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In "The Master Builders", what object is used to make a bird house and some cat toys?

Answer: 3D Printer

Muffy and Francine are making cat toys which they plan to sell to a store that sells pet stuff. It takes them a long time to make the cat toys and they have a short deadline to meet. Catherine introduces them to a 3D Printer at her school. She lets them use it (on the condition that Francine does all of Catherine's chores for two months) and they make all the cat toys that the pet store ordered. Unfortunately, someone else makes the same kind of cat toy and sells it to the pet store before the girls can do it.

Meanwhile, Buster and Fritz make a bird house for the community garden to attract birds that will eat the caterpillars that are eating the plants. Fritz has to go before it's completely finished, so he gives Buster one final task. Buster fails to do it and the bird house collapses. Buster asks George to make a new one. George and his father make one in their workshop, but it is too big to fit on the pole in the garden. When they tell Muffy and Francine about it it, Muffy gets an idea to make a new bird house on a 3D Printer. They do just that and the new bird house works just fine.
2. In "Sue Ellen and the Last Page", who donates enough money to save the library?

Answer: Mr. Crosswire

The Elwood City Council votes to close the school library because most people do their research on their computers at home and do not use the library anymore. This makes Sue Ellen sad. She came to a council meeting and gave a moving speech, but not enough people attended the meeting and heard it. Muffy ends up wanting to help. Ms. Turner tells them that if they raise enough money, the library might remain open. Sue Ellen raises some money, but not enough. Muffy finds a photo of her parents dancing in the library (apparently the library used to offer dance classes).

She talks to her rich father and he donates sufficient money to keep the library open because the library is where he met his wife.
3. In "Muffy Misses Out", where does Muffy go?

Answer: Italy

Muffy is supposed to help out at a bake sale, but her father takes her to Italy for a week. The day before she goes to Italy, she tells Ladonna to bake cannoli, Sue Ellen to decorate in an Italian way, and Binky to play Italian opera music on the clarinet. Muffy has a great time in Italy. When she returns to the Elwood City school, she is shocked to see that the bake sale was not what she suggested. Ladonna does not know how to bake cannoli, so instead she bakes beignets, a pastry that is popular where she used to live (Louisiana). Sue Ellen decorates the stand with Mardi Gras masks and Binky plays Dixieland jazz on his clarinet. The bake sale is a huge success. Muffy is horrified that it did not go the way she said it should go and she is sad to know that her friends do not need her.

The next day, she pretends to be sick and she stays home. At recess, Francine calls her to find out what is going on. Francine tells her friends that Muffy is indeed sick, "she has a broken ego." Ladonna figures out that Muffy is sad because they did not use her suggestions for the bake sale. The kids figure out that they did indeed use some of her suggestions. It was Muffy's idea for them to do a regional cuisine and it was Muffy's idea to have Binky play music for the bake sale. After school that day, Binky, Sue Ellen, visit Muffy. They stage a fight about how to decorate a new theater curtain and beg for Muffy's help. This works. Muffy is cured and she is back to her normal self.
4. What famous civil rights leader appears in "Arthur Takes a Stand?"

Answer: John Lewis

This episode was filmed in the 2010s and John Lewis is the only one of these people that was still alive then, so if you got this question wrong, you need to study American history some more.

John Lewis has been invited to Lakewood Elementary School. Ladonna and Sue Ellen are thrilled. Arthur doesn't know who he is at first. The girls tell him that John Lewis worked with Martin Luther King Jr. to stage many protests trying to get equal rights for African Americans. Sue Ellen gives Arthur some examples of things that John Lewis did (boycotts, sit-ins, etc.). Arthur is fascinated by this.

Ms. MacGrady volunteers to serve breakfast and lunch at school. She tells Arthur that she does this because some families cannot afford a proper breakfast and she thinks everyone should have one. All the kids love breakfast at the school, and they had already been loving lunch. There is one big problem: Ms. MacGrady is doing all of this cooking by herself and she is quickly getting exhausted. Interim principal Ms. Tingley refuses to hire an assistant when Ms. MacGrady talks to her, and again when Arthur talks to her. Arthur loses sleep over the injustice of the situation and ends up sleeping in the library. John Lewis is there and he wakes Arthur up (Arthur does not know that it is John Lewis, though). Arthur explains what is going on at school. John Lewis tells Arthur to be persistent and keep fighting until he has achieved what is right, and he asks Arthur where the nearest flower shop is so he can buy flowers for an old friend.

The next day at school, Arthur starts a sit-in (but he does not know that it's called a "sit-in" yet until Sue Ellen joins in and tells him). Other kids join the sit-in and so does Ms. MacGrady. Ms. Tingley continues to refuse to hire an assistant at first. John Lewis is at the school with the flowers. It turns out his old friend (the one he told Arthur about in the library) is Ms. MacGrady. It also turns out she attended some of the civil rights marches. It also turns out that she has a history of taking on more work than she can handle to do what is right. This is when Arthur finds out that the man he met in the library is John Lewis. Lewis remembers Arthur and is glad to see him again. Ms. Tingley is astonished to see John Lewis in the sit-in. The presence of John Lewis is what convinces Ms. Tingley to change her mind and hire an assistant for Ms. MacGrady. John Lewis asks Arthur if he will have any more nightmares. Arthur says he won't. John Lewis closes the episode by saying that if you follow your conscience, you will always sleep well.

John Lewis passed away two years after this episode first aired.
5. In "Slink's Special Talent", what is Slink's job at the beginning of the episode and at the end of the episode?

Answer: Paper boy

Slink is a paper boy, but he is bad at his job. One day, he tells Rattles that he is going to spend the week with his grandparents and he asks Rattles to fill in for him. Rattles agrees to this and he does a much better job than Slink. The newspaper supervisor fires Slink and hires Rattles. This makes Slink upset, but then Rattles convinces him that he was bad at the job. Slink ends up feeling down because all of his friends have special talents that were revealed in previous episodes (Rattles is great at chess which he proved in "Brain's Chess Mess", Molly is great at giving advice to people and she proved that in "Don't Ask Muffy", and Binky is a great dancer and he is proven that in various episodes) and he doesn't.

Rattles give Slink a self-help book and tells him to find three things he is good at. The next day at recess, he tells his friends the three things. The first two examples he gives are not good ones, but then he tells his friends that he is a good packer. Rattles gets Slink a job as a packer at the mall. With his first and only customer, Rattles does a great job packing most of the bags and he gets a tip. However, Slink forgets one bag and the customer drives off before Slink can get it to him. Slink then quits.

Rattles tells Slink off for being a quitter. Slink decides that he does not want to be a quitter anymore and he wants his paper boy job back. Rattles makes him earn it back. Slink must give each of the customers a survey rating his performance from one to 10. If Slink gets a seven, he gets his job back. Slink gets a six. He offers Rattles the money he made from his paper route in exchange for a second chance. Rattles tells Slink to keep his money and he gives Slink his job back, praising Slink for not being a quitter anymore. The episode ends with Slink delivering a paper to Rattles's house. Rattles says that it is a well-folded paper.
6. In "Take a Hike, Molly", we learn the origin of the name Rattles. How did he get that name?

Answer: He is afraid of snakes

When he was little, he would shout, "Ahh! It's a rattler," whenever he saw a snake. That's how he got the name Rattles. His real name was never revealed in the first 25 seasons or in the first seven one-hour specials (it may have been revealed some time after March of 2026 when this quiz was created if the show was rebooted after then).

The tough customers go on a hiking trip. Rattles sees a little bit of rope that is curled up to look like a snake. Rattles is scared of it until Binky shows him what it is. Molly figures out that Rattles is scared of snakes. Later on, while Rattles is walking over a log on a river, Molly says that there is a water snake. Rattles gets distracted and scared and falls in the water. Rattles is not happy and all the boys are angry at Molly. She does not care.

Later on, she breaks Slink's phone. By the end of the hiking trip, all the boys demand an apology from her. At first she refuses to apologize. She ends up getting to the end of the trail alone. When she is alone, she gets lonely. She ends up shouting "I'm sorry" to no one. It is then revealed that Slink recorded it on his phone as that part of his phone still works. After they hike back to the start of the trail and go to a burger place, Molly cannot say anything but "I'm sorry."
7. In "The Lost Dinosaur", who becomes Bud's imaginary friend for one episode?

Answer: Platy

Bud loses Rapty, his stuffed dinosaur who is also his imaginary friend. To help him sleep, Ladonna lends him Platy, her stuffed platypus who is also her imaginary friend. Bud does not like Platy and gets really angry with him. He makes amends with Platy at the end of the episode. Also at the end of the episode, Ladonna finds Rapty and returns him to Bud. Rapty tells Bud that he was in the washing machine and then in the dryer.
8. In "The Princess Problem", we learn that Lydia does not like princesses because she has never seen one who is... what?

Answer: Handicapped

When Lydia becomes the substitute basketball coach at the pre-school, she tells D.W. and Emily to remove their tiaras because she does not like princesses. D.W. invites Lydia to her house to show her a princess movie which D.W. thinks will make Lydia love princesses. Lydia falls asleep before the movie is over. After D.W. wakes her up, Lydia tells her that she does not like princesses because she has never seen one who is handicapped like her. She has never seen one who is in a wheelchair, blind, deaf, or anything like that.

D.W. goes to Emily's house to ask her if there are any princesses like that. Emily says that there aren't because a princess has to be perfect. D.W. does not think so. Emily invites D.W. to a princess-themed tea party. Emily then gives D.W. a tiara with lights that turn on when you flip a switch.

When D.W. returns home and finds Lydia there (playing basketball with Arthur), Lydia tells D.W. that she found a book about Ana de Mendoza, a real princess from Spain. She is half-blind because she lost an eye in a duel. Lydia reads the book to D.W., who decides to dress up as Ana de Mendoza for Emily's party. Emily prohibits it.

At the party, Emily gets stuck in her bouncy castle. D.W. and Lydia show up, with D.W. dressed up as Ana de Mendoza and Lydia dressed up as a princess character that she invented (a princess with a wheelchair). Lydia gets a blanket, ties it to her wheel chair, and gets to D.W. to give the other end to Emily. By doing this, Lydia and D.W. pull Emily out of the bouncy house. Emily draws a picture of D.W. and Lydia and she puts the picture on her princess platoon lunch box to thank them for getting her out of the bouncy castle.
9. In "Invasion of the Soccer Fans", who does not want people to watch TV?

Answer: Dogs

The Read family (including Grandma Thora) and the Molina family watch a soccer game at the Read house. Pal, Amigo, Killer, and Kate are mad that the TV is distracting the people so they don't play with the dogs. Kate ends up watching TV with the family for a while.

The dogs try various things to get the people to pay attention to them. They only succeed in making the people angry and getting themselves locked in the kitchen, and then locked out of the house. At one point, the TV gets unplugged. When this happens, Kate is back with the dogs.

She convinces Pal to let Arthur know that the TV is unplugged so he and his family will be happy. Pal does that, and everyone is happy at the end of the episode.
10. In "Pal and the Big Itch", how does Pal get the big itch?

Answer: By rolling around in garbage

Pal rolls around in garbage for fun. In the garbage can, an insect bites him and gives him the big itch. Arthur takes him to a vet where he gets some ointment for the itch and then he gets a cone on his head. He cannot reach his food dish in the cone, so Amigo feeds him some leftovers from the Molinas' cooking. Killer tells Pala a fake story to distract him from the itch. Pal ends up liking all the special treatment that he gets because of the itch.

The itch heals. Pal is happy at first, but then Amigo stops sharing his food with him and Killer refuses to finish her story. This makes Pal sad. He rolls around in another garbage can, trying to get his itch back. The garbage can rolls downhill. Amigo uses his big body to stop it, but it hits him really hard in the leg. At the end of the episode, Amigo has the big itch and Pal feeds him leftovers from the Read house and tells him a fake story about Perky.
