Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
Answer:

Enid Blyton was an English author who wrote numerous adventure stories for children. 'The Famous Five' were Julian, George (a girl named Georgina), Dick, Anne and their dog named Timmy. The members of 'The Secret Seven' were called Peter, Janet, Jack, Pam, Barbara, Colin and George (this one is a boy). Their dog, named Scamper, isn't included in the number this time.

'The Twelve Days of Christmas' is a popular song in December, with the words 'a partridge in a pear tree' particularly memorable. Every number has something allocated to it, like 'five gold rings' and 'eight maids a-milking', as well as the six geese mentioned in the question.

The rhyme about the dickie birds is quite short and goes like this: 'Two little dicky birds sitting on a wall, One named Peter, one named Paul, Fly away Peter, fly away Paul. Come back Peter, come back Paul'. It is meant for younger children and the person reading it will often wave their fingers to show the birds flying away and coming back.

The story about the three Billy Goats Gruff describes them as being of different sizes, one small, one medium and the other large. They need to cross a bridge to reach fresh grass, but a nasty troll (a kind of giant) lives under it and loves eating goats. The small and middle sized goats trick him into letting them past, as the biggest one will give him more to eat. Sadly for the troll, the big goat tosses him into the water with his horns, and the troll is never seen again.

The story called 'The Wild Swans' involves a wicked stepmother, as so many fairy tales do. This one marries a king who has eleven sons and one daughter, and the stepmother, who is a witch, turns the boys into swans. The sister has to make shirts for each of them to turn them back into humans, which she manages in the nick of time.

'Charlotte's Web' is a popular story for young children as Charlotte the spider, who has eight legs, manages to save the life of a young pig named Wilbur. 'Clifford the Big Red Dog' and his owner Emily Elizabeth, are the creation of Norman Bridwell and have appeared in books, television shows and even in a film. Dogs are quadrupeds which is a fancy way of saying that they have four legs.

Cats also have four feet, of course, but it is the nine lives they are often said to have that fits the story. They are also described as always falling on their feet. Thirteen is an unlucky number in the west and is believed to have a Biblical origin as there were thirteen people at the Last Supper before Jesus was arrested and crucified. Finally, a score is a word which means the number twenty, among other things. If used in its plural form, it means a large but indefinite number - 'scores of people turned up', for example.
