Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. If you and your friend have a "beef", what are you doing?

Answer: Arguing

Having a "beef" may have originated in the late 19th Century. British soldiers may have argued among themselves over the quality of their meat rations. In the 1980's rappers would battle rhyme against each other and called it a "beef".
2. What "meat" word could describe an old-time radio or a slang term for someone over acting?

Answer: Ham

Calling someone a "ham" doesn't mean they resemble a pig but rather it's a term given to someone who is overly exaggerated and making a spectacle of themselves on stage. Hamming it up is a phrase when someone is going over the top theatrically.

A ham radio was used to transmit messages back and forth over radio airwaves. They're still existing today and can be used to communicate with friends, business associates, or even used in emergency situations.
3. You bowled three strikes in a row; what "meat" term describes this?

Answer: Wendy's

Wendy's wanted to be known for their quality burger used in their signature hamburgers. They vowed to "never cut corners" and created square shaped burgers in 1969. "Salmon Fishing In The Yemen" was a 2011 romantic-comedy with an all-star cast. Besides Blunt and McGregor, Kristin Scott-Thomas was also in the film. Answer: Lamb

Under Judaic law, it was not permissible to eat pork, reptiles, shellfish, camels, birds of prey, or to consume blood. These laws were stated in Leviticus 11 and Deuteronomy 14. The Bible often spoke of lamb being served at meals. There is no record of Jesus consuming lamb but it was allowed under the Mosaic laws he lived under.

10. What meat, brought by the Native Americans, was the primary dish at the first American Thanksgiving in 1621?

Answer: Venison

While we always picture turkey at Thanksgiving, that wasn't the case for the inaugural celebration. Five deer were gifted to the colony by Chief Massasoit to the Pilgrims. Venison meat was the primary dish and it was accompanied with corn, chestnuts, waterfowl, and seafood. There isn't any actual record of turkey being part of the first celebration.
