Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who designed the Munchkin card game?

Answer: Steve Jackson

Like it says on the lid of the Munchkin box! Steve Jackson is the founder of Steve Jackson games - and also the designer of GURPS, the Generic Universal Role-playing System. He is not to be confused the other game designing Steve Jackson, the British co-founder of Games Workshop.
2. In Munchkin, what does every player begin the game as?

Answer: A first level human with no class

"Everyone starts as a Level 1 human with no class (Heh, heh)" is exactly what it says in the basic Munchkin rules.
3. According to the rules, how should the players determine who plays first in Munchkin?

Answer: You roll the die and argue about the results

While rolling the die and taking the highest is the commonest way to decide who goes first, it really is up to the players. You are supposed to roll that die, though.
4. How many cards of each type are dealt to each player at the start of a game of Munchkin?

Answer: Two doors and two treasures

You get the same deal if and when you "die".
5. What is the first action taken by a player in a round of Munchkin?

Answer: Turn over a door card face up

If there is a monster behind a face up door, then the player must fight the monster. If there isn't they get to search the room, drawing a face down door card. Or they can "look for trouble" and choose to fight a monster from their hand.
6. What must you normally do to beat a monster in Munchkin?

Answer: Exceed its total with your level, items and other bonuses

There are exceptions to this rule (of course there are - this is Munchkin). For example, if you have the "warrior" class you win on a tie. And there are monsters you have to beat with your level - or certain item types - alone.
7. Okay, so you lose. What do you have (normally) to roll on a six-sided die to successfully run away from that nasty monster?

Answer: Five or better

Of course, this being Munchkin, racial abilities and items can make it easier or harder to run away. If you fail to run away, the "bad stuff" on the monster card happens. This means that can you "die" if it says, "You're dead." or words to that effect in the "bad stuff" on the card. If you "die" the other players get to "loot the body" - sharing out your cards. You keep your level, class(es) and rac(es), and on your next turn you get a fresh set of cards (two door cards and two treasure cards).
8. What does a "Super Munchkin" card allows a player to have?

Answer: Two classes

A second "Super Munchkin" card lets the player add a third class and so on. And in case you're wondering, it is entirely possible for a Munchkin to have two heads.
9. What does a "Wandering Monster" card allow a player to do?

Answer: Play a monster from the player's hand into an existing combat

Playing the "wandering monster" card along with a high-level monster card is one way to make it more difficult for another player to win the game.
10. A standard game of Munchkin ends when the first player reaches which level?

Answer: 10

There is usually a rush of monster enhancement cards being played as a player turns over a monster when they're on level 9. Of course, that means the other players have run out of monster enhancers when the next player reaches level 9 and turns up a monster. Which is precisely how my ten-year-old son won our local Munchkin tournament!
