Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The new race from this expansion is the Gnome. Which of these monsters will never fight a Gnome?

Answer: The Floating Nose

The Gnome is an interesting little race. If you can play this card, you will be treated as a Halfling in battle and gain the pros and cons attached to each respective monster. If you battle the Floating Nose and Shadow Nose, however, you will not be able to fight; you'll run away automatically and not receive levels or treasures. In addition to this, you get special bonuses. During battle, provided you don't receive outside help, you can use a monster in your hand as an illusion adding its level to your attack.

In addition, should you equip any weapons/armor beginning with the letter G or N, they will receive a +1 attack bonus.
2. One new Class card is added into the game with the "Clerical Errors" expansion. The Bardic Luck ability involves which of the following?

Answer: Treasure cards

With the Bardic Luck ability, a Bard can draw an extra treasure from the deck upon defeating an enemy on their turn. This doesn't mean they can keep it though. Instead, the Bard can look at all of their new treasure cards and discard one to the pile. Of course, this is all a choice; you don't need to use this ability. The Bard's other ability is Enthrall which allows them to force someone to join your battle. To do this, the Bard discards a card and chooses someone to join. Both roll a die and if the Bard wins, they must help and can't ask for any treasures. If the Bard fails, they can keep trying with other players.

This can not be for the winning level, however.
3. Curse! You are now in possession of a Hungry Backpack. How do you choose which cards to discard?

Answer: You don't; the player to your left does

The Hungry Backpack could be a real game-clincher should you happen to come across it. If you receive the Hungry Backpack, at the end of your turn, you will need to roll the die to see how many cards will be eaten (discarded). If you roll 1 through 5, the player to your left will need to pull that many cards from your hand. If you happen to remove the curse by any regular method, by all means do. You can, however, end up rolling a 6 during the all-important roll and end up watching the backpack devour itself, which, although oddly graphic, is also quite rewarding to know can happen.
4. You have just used the Typographical Error card. What does it do?

Answer: Reduces a monster's level to 1

Typographical error is a card which can be played during combat. Found behind a door, it'll be added to your hand regardless of whether you're looking for trouble or looting the room. When used in battle, it will instantly bring the opposing monster down to level 1 while retaining the same amount of levels and treasures.

In other words, that Plutonium Dragon you were planning on running from just got a bit easier to face. There are few ways of preventing a player from using this card-- Annihilation, for example, could remove the card from the game.

Not the easiest plan to orchestrate, however.
5. Failure to run away from three of these monsters will result in death. Which of these is the odd one out in that regard?

Answer: Barrel of Monkeys

Death is most frequently reserved for the Bad Stuff of higher-level monsters. The Barrel of Monkeys is the lowest-leveled of the choices given. At level 6, the Barrel of Monkeys only has a bonus of +2 against Halflings (and thus, Gnomes). If you fail to run away, you'll simply lose a small item and a level. The Seven Year Lich, an undead level 17 monster, would kill anyone failing to run away and force them to lose a level; of course defeating this Lich would give two levels and four treasures. Medusa (at level 19) and Kali (at level 20) would give two levels and five treasures each but while Kali kills and forces a missed turn on the losing player, Medusa turns the dying player to stone making it impossible for players to claim their items.
6. Which of these monsters is Level 1?

Answer: Goldfish

The Perfectly Ordinary Bunny Rabbit is Level 2 and, provided you don't roll a 6 at the beginning of combat, will stay ordinary (otherwise it will become THAT bunny from THAT movie and rise to level 15). The Male Chauvinist Pig is a level 8 creature and the Dead Sea Trolls are undead level 12 monsters with powers against Elves...since they stink.
The Goldfish is a level 1 'monster' who you can defeat or, by chance, run away from automatically. If you do have to flee you don't lose anything except, perhaps, pride. Other players will be entitled to mock you.
Other level 1 monsters in this expansion include the Tequila Mockingbird and the Stick Figure.
7. The Vorpal Blade weapon gains bonus strength against what kind of monsters?

Answer: A monster whose name begins with the letter J

The Vorpal Blade has its origins in the work of Lewis Carroll so it only makes sense (or nonsense) to include it in "Munchkin". A one-handed small item with a +3 attack bonus, the Vorpal Blade only sells for a total of 400 Gold Pieces. When used against monsters beginning with the letter J, however, it becomes a +13 attack bonus weapon, making it one of the strongest weapons under special circumstances.

Other new weapons in this expansion include the Stab-A-Matic, a Two-Handed Sword, and some Hot Pepper Sauce.
8. According to the Deus Ex Machinegun card, who destroys all the monsters in play?

Answer: The gods

The Deus Ex Machinegun card is certainly one of the stronger treasure cards out there. When used in combat, this card will instantly obliterate any monsters (very messily) provided they're in play, as a machine gun is expected to do. If you end up using this card to your advantage you will not receive anything extra-- it wipes the slates clean.

In other words, since the gods were the ones responsible for the win, they reap the rewards. Sometimes it's the easiest out.
9. Curse! Uh oh! You're now no longer to look for trouble by drawing a door card. Which curse has been used on you?

Answer: Tourist Trap

If you happen to be afflicted with the Tourist Trap curse, you'll be forced to take a back seat for a while. When this is done, you will not be able to look for trouble and, as such, you'll be unable to loot rooms or take treasure. The only way to rid yourself of this curse is by helping someone else win in battle against a monster. Of course, you can't force them to take you along...can you? Well...sometimes you can.
As is normal with curses, there are ways to eliminate them. Wishing Rings, for example, can rid curses, as can using one of your Orc abilities.
10. The Duck of Many Things can do...erm...many things. Which of these is not something that must be done when the card is used?

Answer: Take another player's Class card

The Duck of Many Things is a treasure card with no sale value but it is an interesting card nonetheless because of its ability to make you do some pretty crazy stuff to change the tide of the game (at least a bit). You begin by taking a card, at random, from the player to your left and then you give a card from your hand to the player on your right. You take the top discard from either one of the decks before singing a little song. You go up a level and then discard two cards before discarding the Duck of Many Things.
Who says you don't have to work for your win?
