Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Dwarf ice planet, source of kyber crystal for lightsabers

Answer: Ilum

First appearing in the novel "Jedi Quest: Path to Truth" (2001), the dwarf planet is important to Jedi for its kyber crystal, used in Jedi lightsabers. The book describes how young Anakin Skywalker travels to the caves of Ilum for some crystal under the guidance of Obi-Wan Kenobe.
2. Industrial planet known for producing capable pilots

Answer: Corellia

A setting for the "Corellia" trilogy by Roger MacBride (1995), it is Han Solo's home world and is one of the Core worlds. More is revealed in the 2018 film "Solo: A Star Wars Story" and it gets a mention in "A New Hope" (1977). Rogue Squadron pilot Wedge Antilles also comes from here.
3. Outer Rim planet near the Smuggler's Run asteroid belt

Answer: Wrea

Wrea is the planet that 8-year old Jyn Erso (main protagonist in the 2016 film "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story") is brought up on when her mother is killed and her father forced to work on the Death Star. The 2017 novel "Rebel Rising" by Beth Revis describes her time on the planet.
4. Consists of one planet-wide city

Answer: Coruscant

The planet was first named in Timothy Zahn's 1991 novel "Heir to the Empire". The planet was the Imperial centre during the Galactic Empire and served as a galactic capital. It appears in the prequel trilogy films amongst others. There is also a dream sequence in the "Rogue One" film where Jyn Erso is there as a child with her father.
5. Spice mining planet fought over by crime lords

Answer: Kessel

C-3PO mentions the Kessel spice mines in the 1977 film "Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope", however the first novel reference was in "Jedi Search" (1994). The southern-half is lush and prosperous while the northern half is given over to the mining of spice, coaxium and kesselstone. In "Jedi Search" Han Solo and Chewbacca are captured and compelled to work in the mines.
6. Rural planet with former rebel base

Answer: Dantooine

Another planet first mentioned in the 1977 "A New Hope" and, in book form, in "Rebel Search" (1994). Too remote to be an effective demonstration of the Death Star, according to Wilhuff Tarkin in the 1977 film. There is more detail on the planet in "Dark Tide I: Onslaught", part of the "New Jedi Order" series (1999-2003), when Anakin Solo and Luke Skywalker's wife Mara are based there for a time.
7. Home to the Aqualish, a water-covered world on the Outer Rim

Answer: Ando

An obscure one, the planet was created for the role-playing game supplement "Galaxy Guide 4: Alien Races" (1989) and first appeared in book form in "Star War Rebels: Head to Head" (2014) by Pablo Hidalgo. The planet plays host to the sentient amphibious Aqualish species. A 2019 reference book retroactively identified or retconned (a portmanteau word from 'retroactive continuity') Andoan wine at the Outlander Club in "Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones" (2002).
8. A Core world where Kylo Ren was born

Answer: Chandrila

Inconsistencies abound in sources such as video games and dictionaries with, for example, the planet's name wrongly spelled 'Çhandrilla'. Kylo Ren, the antagonist in the film sequel trilogy starting with "The Force Awakens" (2015), was born Ben Solo on Chandrila to Leia Organa and Han Solo. This is mentioned in both "Bloodline" (2016) by Claudia Gray and "Aftermath: Empire's End" (2017) by Chuck Wendig. It is also the home planet of Mon Mothma. It is an agriworld in the Core.
9. Mountainous jungle planet with hidden cloning facility and prison

Answer: Wayland

First mention (in book form) of the planet is in the 1991 novel "Heir to the Empire", part of the "Thrawn" trilogy by Timothy Zahn. The planet produces the clones for Grand Admiral Thrawn's plan to destroy the New Republic. More recently it is the source of clones for the 2021 animated TV series "Star Wars: The Bad Batch". Spelling has varied between Wayland and Weyland.
10. Strong presence of the dark side with blood-red sunlight

Answer: Dathomir

Dathomir is the planet where Han Solo secures the hand of Princess Leia, as described in "The Courtship of Princess Leia" (1994) by Dave Wolverton. Han first comes across the planet by winning it in a hand of sabacc, much the same way he won the Millennium Falcon. It is a planet where the Nightsisters (or Witches of Dathomir) are based and is a major location in the 2011 TV series "The Clone Wars". By retcon, the planet is the home world of both Darth Maul and Asajj Ventress.
