7. Roma

The 2018 Spanish-language drama film was written and directed by Mexican filmmaker Alfonso Cuaron and stars Yalitza Aparicio and Marina de Tavira. The movie was also awarded the Best Picture Academy award. Cuaron based the plot of the movie in part on his growing up in Mexico City in the 1970s, and explores themes of love, heartbreak, and class struggle.
8. A Fantastic Woman

Chilean director Sebastian Lelio wrote the 2018 movie, alongside Gonzalo Maza, about a transgender woman living in Chile and the hardship and discrimination she faces in the South American country. The Best Foreign Film Oscar winner features Daniela Vega, who became the first transgender presenter in Academy Award history, and Francisco Reyes, who plays the main character's older boyfriend.
9. The Father

The 2020 psychological drama film was directed by Florian Zeller and stars Anthony Hopkins and Olivia Colman. Hopkins would receive his second Academy Award win for Best Leading Actor for his role as Anthony in the film. 10. The Silence of the Lambs

12. Amistad

13. The Lion King

The 1994 Disney classic was directed by Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff and starred Jeremy Irons and Matthew Broderick. Partially inspired by "Hamlet", Simba is a young lion cub who is tricked by his uncle Scar into believing that he led to the death of his father, the King Mufasa.

He is exiled from his home and has to grow up away from his family before eventually returning to face his uncle.
14. Toy Story

The 1995 Pixar movie was directed by Jonathan Lasseter and starred Tom Hanks as Woody, a cowboy doll, and Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear, a Space Ranger Action figure. The film opens with the toys spying on their owner Andy's birthday party, worried that he might find some new toys that will eventually replace them. Buzz Lightyear, Andy's new favorite toy, is initially unaware that he is a toy.
15. Beauty and the Beast

The 1991 romantic fantasy Disney movie was based on "La Belle et la Bete", a fairy tale authored by French novelist Gabrielle-Suzanne de Villeneuve. Walt Disney had wanted to adapt it into a Disney movie since the 1930s. Gary Tousdale and Kirk Wise directed the film, with voice actors Paige O'Hara and Robby Benson playing Belle and "The Beast", respectively.

In the movie, French girl Belle is imprisoned by an ugly beast in his castle after her father accidentally gets lost and imprisoned. In exchange for his life and freedom, the Beast demands that Belle stay with him.
16. Finding Nemo

Andrew Stanton directed the 2003 animated Pixar movie that starred Ellen DeGeneres and Albert Brooks. Marlin, a clownfish, loses his partner and all but one of his children to a large hungry barracuda. He vows to keep his surviving son, Nemo, safe. However, Nemo's recklessness gets him captured by Scuba divers and domesticated as a pet by humans in Sydney.
