First, Read the Review Trivia Quiz

I've developed this rather poor habit of reading reviews before watching a movie. The upside of this first world problem is I'm able to create a quiz where I give you the "Rotten Tomatoes" consensus review, and you have to somehow guess the movie.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. 89%: A classic Tarantino genre-blending thrill ride, [this film] is violent, unrestrained, and thoroughly entertaining.

Answer: Inglourious Basterds

My favorite movie of all time was released in 2009 to generally favorable reviews. Mostly set in Nazi-occupied France, the film details several plotlines. It starts with the brutal murder of a Jewish family at the ends of SS Colonel Hans Landa in a tense and terrifying opening scene.

It continues as a group of Jewish-born American soldiers attempt to breach a movie premiere that several high ranking German officials will attend.
2. 93%: Bolstered by powerful lead performances from Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, and Tommy Lee Jones, [this movie] finds the Coen brothers spinning cinematic gold out of Cormac McCarthy's grim, darkly funny novel.

Answer: No Country for Old Men

The astonishing performance of Javier Bardem as calm sociopathic hitman Anton Chigurh won him an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in 2008. An unsuspecting man finds a briefcase containing two million dollars in cash following a failed drug deal. Chigurh is tasked with killing him and retrieving the money. This proves to be more difficult than expected for the seasoned killer.
3. 86%: M Night Shayamalan's [movie] is a twisty ghost story with all the style of a classical Hollywood picture, but all the chills of a modern horror flick.

Answer: The Sixth Sense

Bruce Willis plays a psychologist who is treating a young boy with severe hallucinations. He believes himself able to see ghosts that are not aware they are dead. The movie serves up one of the most famous twist endings in film history, which shocked audiences when it was released in 1999.

The young boy was expertly played by Haley Joel Osment, who became a household name following the performance.
4. 75%: Tom Hanks' rigorously earnest performance keeps [the movie] sincere even when it gets glib with American history, making for a whimsical odyssey of debatable wisdom but undeniable heart.

Answer: Forrest Gump

Tom Hanks won an Academy Award for his performance as Forrest, a brave, kind-hearted, though intellectually disabled man who opens the movie at a bus stop, telling his life story to whoever would listen. Although his life story seems fantastical at first, Forrest shows the strangers some proof of his exploits that back up his claims.

His life has been adventurous to say the least, and he is on his way to meet his childhood best friend Jenny, who is also the love of his life.
5. 95%: Director Jonathan Demme's smart, taut thriller teeters on the edge between psychological study and all-out horror, and benefits greatly from stellar performances by Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster.

Answer: The Silence of the Lambs

The chilling thriller won leads Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins Best Actress and Best Actor Oscars, respectively, as well as Best Picture and Best Director. FBI agent Clarice Starling seeks the help of the brilliant psychiatrist Hannibal Lecter in catching a uniquely twisted serial killer. Lecter, however, has been incarcerated for his own serial killing and cannibalism.

He offers to help Clarice, but not before toying with her and everybody else in his vicinity.
6. 0%: All that cash flowing into FIFA's coffers, and they spent it on this tripe?

Answer: United Passions

We had to include something unique in this list. "United Passions" is a uniquely awful sports movie, where the heroes are the executives. Sanctioned by FIFA president Sepp Blatter as a tone-deaf retelling of how he, an honest and hard working executive, rose to the top of FIFA at his own merit, the movie unintentionally struck comedic gold as it was released while Blatter himself was in the middle of a major corruption scandal.

It is one of the few movies to hold a 0% rating on the review aggregation website.
7. 99%: An urgent, brilliantly layered look at timely social themes, [this movie] finds writer-director Bong Joon Ho in near-total command of his craft.

Answer: Parasite

The South Korean director won Best Director and Best Picture Oscars for his masterpiece about class structure. A husband and wife are employed by a rich family as help, and when the owners of the house are away on vacation, the poor family revels in the life of luxury. That is, until they realize that there is someone else living in the house.
8. 81%: [This movie's] blend of irreverent humor and serious ideas definitely won't be to everyone's taste -- but either way, this anti-hate satire is audacious to a fault.

Answer: Jojo Rabbit

The movie is set in World War II-era Nazi Germany, where a ten-year-old member of the Hitler Youth finds out that his mother is hiding a Jewish girl in their home. He grows to like her company, despite his imaginary friend - none other than Hitler himself - encouraging him to turn her in to the authorities.
9. 95%: Sweet, soulful, and smart, Spike Jonze's [film] uses its just-barely-sci-fi scenario to impart wryly funny wisdom about the state of modern human relationships.

Answer: Her

"Her" was released in 2013 and starred Joaquin Phoenix as a lonely man that purchases a rather expensive AI assistant tool who is voiced by the talented Scarlett Johansson. As he gets to know the AI, they fall in love with one another, but he is unable to compete with the machine's ability to retain vast amounts of information and get in touch with thousands of people and other AI applications all at once.
10. 98%: Hitchcock's first American film (and his only Best Picture winner), [this film] is a masterpiece of haunting atmosphere, Gothic thrills, and gripping suspense.

Answer: Rebecca

Sir Laurence Olivier plays a widower who is welcoming his new bride to his home in Cornwall. The new bride's name is never given, intentionally to highlight her supposed insignificance relative to the widower's first wife, Rebecca, who tragically died. The house staff take an immediate disliking to anyone who dares replace their beloved Rebecca.
