Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The movie ranked number nine on "Business Insider's" list was "The Human Centipede (Final Sequence)". What was the main setting for the series?

Answer: A prison in Texas

"The Human Centipede (Final Sequence)" was the third and final film in a series of horror movie spoofs. It was filmed in the Netherlands but was an English-speaking movie. I will omit the gory plot details but needless to say it was panned by the critics. The setting is the fictional George H. W. Bush State Prison in Texas.
2. Number 20 on the list is "The Mangler". What famous author wrote the short story the movie was based on?

Answer: Stephen King

The title "character" of the movie was a laundry press, another example of the "machine come to life" genre of horror films. Stephen King is a prolific writer of horror, science fiction, mystery novels and short stories, many of which have been adapted for movies and television. "The Mangler" was released in March of 1995 and released on DVD in 2004. Reviews were mostly negative, but some acknowledged it as fun in a gory way.
3. Number 25 on the list was "Alone In The Dark". Who played the male lead?

Answer: Christian Slater

"Alone In The Dark" was loosely based on a video game series of the same name. Slater, whose acting career has ranged from soap operas, several movies and TV shows, and voice-overs, played Edward Camby, a detective specializing in occult-related investigations. Tara Reid played Aline Cedrac, an archaeologist and Camby's girlfriend.

The movie's release was originally supposed to coincide with the release of the fifth game in the series, but the company feared backlash from fans of the game and did a complete reworking of it.
4. Number 27 on the list was "The Tortured" from 2010. It's about a serial killer who kidnaps and kills the son of a young couple. How did the couple plan to get revenge on the killer?

Answer: By kidnapping and torturing him

Angered by a plea deal that resulted in a reduced sentence for the killer, the young couple, played by Erika Christensen and Jesse Metcalfe, plotted to kidnap the killer as he was being transferred to a prison van. From there the plot becomes twisted and convoluted. Production on "The Tortured" began in 2008 with Charlie Sheen in the lead role of John Kozlowski the serial killer.

But Sheen quit in June of that year and was replaced by Bill Moseley. The movie was filmed in British Columbia.
5. Number 40 on the list is "Persecuted". What former United States Senator has a role in the film?

Answer: Fred Thompson

The cast of "Persecuted" includes former U.S. Senator and Presidential contender Fred Thompson, contemporary Christian artist Natalie Grant and veteran actor Dean Stockwell among others. The plot centers around the efforts of an evangelist to prevent passage of a bill that would make it illegal to publicly declare that Christianity was the only truth.

The film was later adapted into a novel by Robin Parrish.
6. Number 50 on the list was the 1998 version of "The Avengers". Who played the male and female lead roles of John Steed and Emma Peel?

Answer: Ralph Fiennes and Uma Thurman

Although he subsequently had several movies to his credit, Ralph Fiennes began his acting career on the stage of the Royal National Theater in Great Britain and gained acclaim as an interpreter of Shakespeare. Uma Thurman began her career as a model before appearing in such movies as "Pulp Fiction" and "Kill Bill".

This movie was based on the popular British TV series "The Avengers" and features an appearance by Patrick Macnee, who portrayed the original John Steed in the series.
7. Number 55 on the list was "Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2". Who played the title role?

Answer: Kevin James

Kevin James began his career in entertainment as a stand-up comedian, appearing on most of the major talk-variety shows such as "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno", "Late Night with David Letterman" and many others. Guest appearances on the hit sitcom "Everybody Loves Raymond" led to the development of his own sitcom "King of Queens" which ran for nine seasons on the CBS network.

The first Paul Blart movie "Paul Blart: Mall Cop" was much better received by critics and audiences as they warmed to Kevin's portrayal of an underdog they could identify with.
8. Number 57 on the list was Tom Green's "Freddy Got Fingered". What does Green's character aspire to be in the movie?

Answer: A professional cartoonist

Tom Green co-wrote, directed and starred in "Freddy Got Fingered", playing an unemployed cartoonist. Legendary character actor Rip Torn played his verbally abusive father and Julie Hagerty played his mother. Other notable appearances include Anthony Michael Hall, Drew Barrymore (Green's wife at the time) and basketball legend Shaquille O'Neal. 20th Century Fox released and distributed the movie in April of 2001.
9. Number 65 on the list was "Dungeons and Dragons". What former "Doctor Who" had a cameo role in the movie?

Answer: Tom Baker

Tom Baker was the fourth incarnation of Doctor Who and played that role longer than any of the others. He has had a long career as a stage, film, radio and television actor. In the "Dungeons and Dragons" movie he portrayed Halvarth, the elven healer.
10. Number 75 on the list is "Evidence", a 2013 release about two detectives investigating a massacre. In what southwestern state does the massacre and investigation take place?

Answer: Nevada

"Evidence" begins with the aftermath of a brutal massacre in Kidwell, Nevada. Four video cameras are found at the scene and the two lead detectives use those as the starting point of their investigation. As they review the videos they begin to realize they are being manipulated. Critics were almost unanimous in their dislike of the film.
