Texas was formed in 1984 in Glasgow. Singles are 'I Don't Want a Lover' and Black Eyed Boy'. The Alternative Rock band Jesus and the Mary Chain come from East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire. Formed in 1983, two of their singles are 'Just Like Honey' and 'April Skies'. Travis formed in Glasgow in 1990. Singles are 'Why Does It Always Rain on Me?' and 'Sing'. Deacon Blue originated in Glasgow in 1985. Singles are 'Real Gone Kid' and 'Fergus Sings the Blues'.

Franz Ferdinand was formed in 2002 in Glasgow. Singles are 'Take Me Out' and 'Do You Want To'. Indie band Camera Obscura was formed in Glasgow in 1996. Their singles are 'French Navy' and 'Let's Get Out of This Country'. Idlewild was formed in Edinburgh in 1995. Singles are 'You Hold the World in Your Arms' and 'American English'.

Teenage Fanclub was formed in Glasgow in 1989. Singles are 'Ain't That Enough' and 'Everything Flows'. The Waterboys originated in Edinburgh in 1983.
