Sagna, a defender, was signed by Arsenal from French team Auxerre. This rising star of the French game made his debut for the French national side on May 24th 2007 against the Ukraine. Sagna has won the French Cup with Auxerre in 2005. He was also named in the Ligue 1 Team of the Year for the 2006-07 season in France.

Santa Cruz is a Paraguayan international who has made more than 50 appearances for his country. He appeared in the 2002 and 2006 World Cup competitions for his country. He made his senior debut at the age of 16 for Paraguyan side Olimpia Asuncion in 1998.

He helped his side to league tiles in 1998 and 1999. He earned the honour of being Paraguyan Footballer of the Year in 1999. Then followed his move to Germany with Bayern. Over 8 years he made 148 appearances, scoring 31 goals. During his time in Germany Roque has won the Champions League, World Club Championship, four German league titles, three German Cup victories and two German League Cup titles.

In July 2007, Mark Hughes secured his services and he made his Premiership debut against Middlesbrough.
