The legend of Wyatt Earp actually started in the sports pages. The gunfight at the OK Corral was just local news. It was through the press wars between the anti-Earp San Francisco Call and the pro-Earp Examiner that Earp's "wild west" background became better known. According to Wikipedia, Earp had been the ref. for "about 30" prizefights, but this was the first of national note, as well as his first Marquess of Queensbury rules. (see Wikipedia, "Fitzsimmons vs. Sharkey") When Wyatt Earp died in 1929, his name was as much connected with prizefighting as gun fighting. Today his connection with sports is a trivia question.

Randall Cobb was an American football wide receiver who has had a notable career in the NFL. He was born in Maryville, Tennessee. Cobb played college football at the University of Kentucky, where he showcased his versatility as a receiver, return specialist, and even quarterback on occasion. He was drafted in the second round (64th pick) by the Green Bay Packers, in the 2011 NFL Draft.

Cobb made an immediate impact, scoring a touchdown on his very first NFL touch, a 108-yard kickoff return, which tied the record for the longest kickoff return in NFL history. Over his years with the Packers, Cobb became known for his reliability, route running, and ability to make plays in crucial moments. His best season came in 2014 when he recorded 91 receptions for 1,287 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Cobb then moved to the Dallas Cowboys and then the Houston Texans before being traded back to the Packers. He reunited with star quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who had publicly expressed a desire to have Cobb back on the team. This move was seen as part of the effort to appease Rodgers amid his discontent with the Packers' management. When Rodgers was traded to the NY Jets, Cobb also came along for the trip. However, his year with the Jets was a huge disappointment, scoring only one touchdown. After that year, Cobb became an analyst.
