After a successful youth career at Birmingham City, Bellingham moved to Germany's Borussia Dortmund in 2020.

Bukayo Saka was born in Ealing, England in 2001 to Nigerian parents. Saka, who spent most of his youth career at Arsenal and then debuted with the main team in 2018, already had a few international goals under his belt before the World Cup. At minute 43, almost by the end of the first half, Shaw crossed the ball from a corner kick and Maguire used his head to assist Saka. Saka then fired a powerful shot and scored England's second.

England found confidence with their first two goals and were fired up by the closing of the first half. In aggregate, England again successfully beat the Iranian defense, and Harry Kane was able to pass the ball to Raheem Sterling. Sterling didn't even flinch and confidently pushed the ball into the net, leaving England with a hefty 3-0 advantage at the conclusion of the first half. Sterling, who was born in Kingston, Jamaica, had just moved from Manchester City to Chelsea earlier in 2022.

The motivated English team continued delighting the crowd in attendance at Khalifa International Stadium. At minute 62, Bukayo Saka got his second goal of the match after successfully shaking off two Iranian defenders and kicking the ball into the net with his left foot.

It looked like the Iranian goalkeeper perhaps could have done more, which suggests that maybe his line of vision was blocked and he couldn't react in time. Saka would score once again in England's Round of 16 match against Senegal.

In the 65th minute, just when England coach Gareth Southgate was preparing multiple substitutions, the Iranians showed that they weren't ready to give up just yet. Iran successfully got into the box, and Mehdi Taremi surprised goalkeeper Jordan Pickford with a shot that hit the top post and then went in. During the almost 14 minutes of aggregate that were played in the second half, VAR awarded a penalty to Iran which Taremi scored, bringing the final score to England 6-2 Iran.

Taremi started his career in his native Iran, and after a brief stint in Qatar, he emigrated to Portugal to play for Rio Ave. He then signed with Porto in 2020.

After Iran's first goal, England made several substitutions, which would prove successful quite quickly. At 70', Harry Kane gave a great assist to Marcus Rashford, who had entered the match just seconds prior to the play. All Rashford needed was to touch the ball twice to score England's fifth. Marcus Rashford was born in 1997 in Manchester, England.

He started his professional career at Manchester United in 2015 and is also known for his social activism.

In the 88th minute, England started a fantastic play all the way from the back. A series of quick passes in the midfield was followed by a through pass from Bellingham, which reached Callum Wilson in an optimal position. All Wilson had to do was play it to Jack Grealish, who easily put the ball into the net. Grealish then celebrated by waving his arms like a worm, which is something he had promised to a boy with cerebral palsy prior to the World Cup.

He spent most of his early professional career at Aston Villa and signed for Manchester City in 2021.

Senegal and the Netherlands played their first 2022 World Cup match at Al Thumama Stadium. Both squads defended very well and the match went scoreless for almost the entire time. At 84', Frenkie de Jong gave a fantastic pass to Cody Gakpo, who pushed the ball into the net with the back of his head.

This was a blunder by Senegal's defense, since de Jong was incredibly left all by himself, which allowed him plenty of space to make the successful assist.

At the very end of the match, Memphis Depay managed to get close to the box and attempted to shoot from a long distance. Though goalkeeper Edouard Mendy stopped the ball, his deflection sent the ball straight into Davy Klaassen's position. Klaassen easily scored and clinched the victory for the Dutch. His career had seen him play for clubs like Ajax, Everton, and Werder Bremen.
