Jack Bauer explained to George Mason that Penticoff had information on the threat against Senator Palmer. Mason told Bauer that he would interview Penticoff himself, but Penticoff told Mason he wouldn't talk to anyone except Bauer.

Jack Bauer had been allowed in the cell to see Penticoff by the policewoman's partner. While in the cell, Bauer antagonized the partner until he attacked Bauer, and in the ensuing scuffle, Bauer managed to remove the officer's keycard and hand it to Penticoff. Bauer wanted to find out what Penticoff knew about Kim Bauer, and the only way Penticoff would talk was if Bauer got him out of jail.

After Lyle Gibson, the rapist of Senator Palmer's daughter, Nicole, had allegedly committed suicide, a man checked into a hospital emergency room with wounds that could have come from a scuffle. A different name was used, but Maureen Kingsley had the handwriting analyzed, and it was Keith Palmer's. Keith Palmer refused to discuss the matter with his father.

Answer: To dispose of a body in the trunk of a car

George Mason followed Jack Bauer to the scene and took Penticoff back into custody. Bauer finally explained to Mason that there was someone in the agency who was involved with the threat against Senator Palmer. Bauer told Mason that he needed to get the body to CTU for ID, and Mason agreed to let him do so.

Answer: Ira Gaines shot him.

The boys had turned Kim Bauer over to Ira Gaines, and Gaines told them to meet him back at his compound to get their money. When Gaines arrived, he asked Dan what had happened to Janet York. Dan said that they had killed her, but Gaines told him that she had been taken to a hospital. He then shot Dan and told Rick, Dan's partner, that he had been promoted.

Answer: His wife, Sherry Palmer

After reporter Maureen Kingsley told Senator David Palmer about the allegations against Keith Palmer, Senator Palmer asked Carl Webb to investigate the allegations for him. When Senator Palmer threw Webb off his campaign for being involved in the cover-up, Webb told him that Palmer's wife, Sherry had also been involved.

Mike Novick told Senator David Palmer what to expect when the news broke. He pointed out to Palmer that Palmer wasn't involved in the cover-up and that publicly coming clean would be his best move. Novick said that "the voters know how to forgive" and that Palmer "just [needed] to ask for it".

We found out that Alan York wasn't who he said he was. When he entered her hospital room, Janet asked who he was, and he then suffocated her. He then told Teri Bauer that Janet had given him an address, and he left with Teri Bauer to go to that location.

Answer: Ira Gaines

Ira Gaines told Jack Bauer to go outside of the hospital, get into a car and drive to CTU. He had him put on an earpiece so that Gaines could hear him and talk to him. Gaines told Bauer he would have to follow his directions if he wanted to see Kim again.

Nina Myers tried to call Jack Bauer with the identification of the body, but she couldn't reach him, so she left the message with Teri Bauer. Teri was in a car with the man she thought was Alan York at the time that she received the call.
