Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. 'Risk'

Answer: Rimmer

'Risk' is a strategic map-based board game. Players control armies and conquer territories. Rimmer is a huge fan, as well as a collector of war figures and books about military history, and in 'Meltdown', he bores Lister and Cat by telling them about how he beat his Cadet School Training Officer at 'Risk'. (A friend of mine, who was also a 'Red Dwarf' fan, was surprised to learn it was a real game - she thought it had been made up for the series!)
2. Guitar

Answer: Lister

Lister plays the guitar, albeit very badly. In 'Marooned', he pretends to burn it but has actually burned a guitar-shaped piece of wood from Rimmer's camphor wood chest. Lister's terrible guitar playing actually saves his and the crew's lives - in 'Psirens', when a Psiren enters the ship and imitates Lister, the crew are able to tell which one is the real one by asking the Listers to play the guitar.

The Psiren reveals its identity by playing it well, and is shot dead. Kryten explains that because Lister believes himself to be a brilliant guitarist, the Psiren assumed he was one.
3. 'Nova 5'

Answer: Kryten

The 'Nova 5' is an American ship that has crash-landed. Kryten is a service mechanoid employed to care for the crew, and he continues to care for them long after their deaths. When the 'Red Dwarf' crew get an emergency message in 'Kryten', Kryten mentions that three female officers survived the crash, but neglected to mention that they have been dead for a very long time and are now skeletons. Kryten only accepts the truth when Rimmer tells the skeletons to put their hands up if they're still alive.
4. Duane Dibbley

Answer: The Cat

Duane Dibbley is the Cat's alter ego from 'Back to Reality'. He is the antithesis of the stylish Cat, a badly dressed man with huge buck teeth and a bowl cut who lives in a Salvation Army hostel. The Cat is not pleased, to say the least. Rimmer and Lister are a pair of half-brothers called Billy and Sebastian Doyle, while Kryten is a policeman called Jake Bullet. Duane Dibbley returns in 'Polymorph II: Emohawk', when the Polymorph steals the Cat's cool.
5. Liverpool

Answer: Lister

Lister wasn't originally intended to be from Liverpool, but Craig Charles is a Scouser and Rob Grant and Doug Naylor ended up rewriting the character to suit him. Lister mentions Bootle (he lost his virginity at Bootle Municipal Golf Course) and Aigburth (a pub where he played pool), both of which are areas around Liverpool. Charles himself is from Cantril Farm, now known as Stockbridge Village. Lister was also intended to be a 41-year-old white man, but Charles - who is mixed-race and was 23 at the time - asked to audition for the part and got it.
6. 'Tongue Tied'

Answer: The Cat

'Tongue Tied' is a song performed on the show by the Cat in 'Parallel Universe', with Rimmer and Lister as his backing dancers. Danny John-Jules, who played the Cat, released the song as a single in 1993. Instrumental versions of the song also feature in 'Parallel Universe', 'Better than Life' and 'Stasis Leak'.

'Tongue Tied' is also the name of a 'Red Dwarf' fan wiki.
7. Small off-duty Czechoslovakian traffic warden

Answer: Kryten

In 'Camille', Lister is trying to make Kryten go against his programming. Kryten has done it in the past, such as when he painted Rimmer on the toilet in 'Kryten', but he is unable to lie. Lister teaches him to lie by giving him a banana and asking him what it is. Kryten struggles, but eventually manages to lie; one of the things he calls the banana is 'a small off-duty Czechoslovakian traffic warden'.

He also refers to it as a 'blue and red striped golfing umbrella' and 'the Bolivian Navy on manoeuvres on the South Pacific'.

However, he loses his nerve when asked to demonstrate his new-found ability to the Cat.
8. Gazpacho soup

Answer: Rimmer

In 'Me2', Rimmer's clone upsets him by calling him 'Mr Gazpacho'. When the original thinks Lister is about to switch him off, he explains what the clone was referring to: when Rimmer was alive, he was invited to dine at the captain's table one night. They served gazpacho soup and Rimmer asked for it to be heated up. The other crew members laughed at him. Later, when Rimmer died, his last words were 'gazpacho soup'.

After Rimmer tells his story, Lister reveals that he had already deleted the clone and that he just wanted to know what the 'gazpacho soup business' was, because Rimmer refused to tell him. Lister promises never to mention it again, apart from one parting shot at the end of the episode: "Souper."
9. Riviera Kid

Answer: The Cat

When the crew join Kryten in the Western Artificial Reality world in his dreams, they take on the identities of cowboys. Kryten himself is an alcoholic sheriff. Lister is a knifeman called Brett Riverboat, Rimmer is a bare fist fighter called Dangerous Dan McGrew, and the Cat is a gunman called the Riviera Kid.

He gets a neat black cowboy outfit and does a trick involving shooting bullets out of the air. However, he loses his gun skills when the virus affects the Artificial Reality unit.
10. Kebabs

Answer: Lister

Lister loves Indian food, especially vindaloo - a notoriously hot curry - and shami kebabs. He has a notorious recipe called Shami Kebab Diabolo, which was so hot it put his late friend Petersen in the sick bay for a week. In 'Polymorph', the Polymorph turns into a kebab while Lister is making and eating kebabs, and it attacks him before turning into a pair of boxers.
11. 'Casablanca'

Answer: Kryten

In 'Camille', the crew meet a Pleasure GELF (Genetically Engineered Life Form) called Camille, who appears to each crew member as his perfect companion. To Kryten, she's a female mechanoid; to Lister, she's Kochanski; to Rimmer, she's a female hologram; and to Cat, she's a copy of him because he loves himself.

When she reveals her true form to Kryten, they go on a date and watch 'Casablanca'. Kryten quotes the film to Camille before she returns to Hector, her partner.
12. Alphabetti Spaghetti

Answer: Rimmer

In 'Polymorph', when Lister is bitten by the Polymorph and loses his cowardice, he is taken to the sick bay. The Polymorph takes the form of Rimmer's mother and lovingly strokes Lister's chest, claiming she just had sex with him. Kryten, who has lost his submissiveness, laughs while Holly tries to warn Rimmer, but Rimmer gets increasingly angry.

When the Polymorph claims Lister did obscene things to her with Alphabetti Spaghetti, Rimmer loses his cool and screams, "Alphabetti Spaghetti?!" as the Polymorph consumes his anger.
