Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
Answer:
Waylon Jennings was a legendary outlaw country music singer known for his collaborations with Willie Nelson and hits like "Luckenbach, Texas" and "I'm A Rambling Man". In 1975, Waylon was the narrator of a 1975 called "Moonrunners" about bootleggers in the American South. The movie set the tone for the CBS television series "The Dukes of Hazzard" in 1979. In the TV series, Waylon continued his role as narrator. The CBS series was a huge hit and made actors Tom Wopat and John Schneider TV heartthrobs. "Dukes of Hazzard" included their classic car named the General Lee, an orange 1969 Dodge Charger R/T. Daisy Duke, their TV sister, and Boss Hogg, the town sheriff, became television icons of the early 1980s.
The song, "Dukes of Hazzard Theme Song," was recorded twice by Waylon Jennings. One version added the verse of a modern-day Robin Hood for television. The rendition released on Jennings' 1980 album "Music Man" changed the verse to "I'm a good old boy, You know my mama loves me. But she don't understand, they keep a-showing my hands and not my face on TV." The song reached number one on Billboard Hot 100 Country Singles chart in 1980.
