"SNL's" Iconic Characters Trivia Quiz
In the first fifty years, "Saturday Night Live" created so many memorable characters. Can you match up the "SNL" character to the actor most associated to it? The picture describes a character, iconic prop, or catchphrase in the sketch.
Dana Carvey debuted the Church Lady sketch in 1986 and he even brought back the character for the 50th anniversary special. The Church Chat segment and the catchphrase "well isn't that special" were part of one of the most memorable skits on the series.
2. Michael Myers
Michael Myers played Wayne Campbell in the sketch, Wayne's World. Together with Dana Carvey, who played his best friend Garth, the popular "Saturday Night Live" sketch became a Hollywood movie in 1992.
3. Cheri Oteri
Cheri Oteri and Will Ferrell teamed up as the Spartan Cheerleaders in a sketch that debuted on November 11, 1995. Cheri was only on "Saturday Night Live" for five seasons but her cheerleader sketch was a regular staple on the series.
4. Adam Sandler
Adam Sandler introduced the "Hanukkah Song" on December 3, 1994. The song was written for all of the Jewish children who didn't have a popular song like those made for the Christmas holiday. Adam recorded a second version for "Saturday Night Live" in 1999 called "Hanukkah Song. Part II".
5. Chris Farley
Chris Farley played the motivational speaker, Matt Foley on "Saturday Night Live". His overly enthusiastic approach, physical comedy, and the catchphrase, "I live down by the river in a van" became one of the series' most beloved bits.
6. Bill Murray
Bill Murray created the character, Nick the Lounge Singer, in 1978. Nick loved to banter with the audience and is most remembered for his "Star Wars" song in the skit.
7. John Belushi
John Belushi became Samurai Futaba on the early seasons of "Saturday Night Live". Dressed in a kimono, speaking only Japanese, the Samurai would take on unusual American jobs like being a cheeseburger chef in a diner.
8. Eddie Murphy
Eddie Murphy did a number of great celebrity impersonations on "Saturday Night Live". For the role of legendary soul singer, James Brown, Eddie created the "James Brown, Celebrity Hot Tub Party" in 1983. As Brown attempted to dip his foot in the hot water, he'd jump back and give a signature James Brown yelp.
9. Will Ferrell
"We need more cowbell!" In a episode on April 8, 2000, Christopher Walken portrayed a record producer working with the rock band, Blue Oyster Cult. As they were recording the track, Will Ferrell played a loud and dramatic cowbell. With his belly coming out of his shirt and his wild '70s hair, Ferrell stole the iconic scene.
10. Dan Aykroyd
On January 15, 1977, Dan Aykroyd, Jane Curtin, and Lorraine Newman became the Coneheads on "Saturday Night Live". A family of aliens were trying to fit into American culture. Akyroyd played the role of Beldar Conehead.
